Captain America Winter Soldier ReviewFollowing the events of the Avengers, Steve Rogers (Captain America) attempts to find his place in the modern world. When Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the target of a ruthless attack, Steve becomes entangled in a conspiracy that threatens the free world. Aided by Black Widow and a new ally the Falcon, Captain America strives to uncover the source of this new threat while combating a legendary assassin: the Winter Soldier.

Every now and then, a blockbuster comes around that offers movie-goers more than mere spectacle. There are plenty exciting effects and smartly staged action sequences in Captain America: the Winter Soldier for sure. But in between all the “oo’s’” & “ah’s,” is a well-crafted story full of rich character development.

Much of the blame can be placed on Chris Evans. Evans gives a marvelous (heh) portrayal of Steve Rogers aka Captain America, emphasizing Cap’s humanity as he struggles to understand the shifts of modern society without compromising his beliefs and values. Despite his reported lack of enthusiasm for the fame associated with the character, Evans still delivers.

Great movie. Not #1 in the MCU for me (Avengers owns that spot), but the plot and story in this movie is hands down the best we've seen yet. I feel that this movie more than any of the others could appeal to someone unfamiliar with Marvel who wants to go see a legitimately good action movie.

Good review, you touched on a lot of why I liked it as well.

I thought the movie was amazing! A sign of things to come from Marvel studios!

I agree with the 4.5 out of 5. When we bought tickets, a theater employee said that this movie is 10 times better than the first one. Well, the first was an alright movie so I don't know about 10times, but it's still far more epic. There's a great flow and doesn't feel like a bunch of set pieces stapled together. The sound-sculpting is phenomenal, and each character had a sound-effects leitmotif that added to the action.

This movie especially shines when compared to recent sequels like Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, one of which was horribly flawed and the other of which was a plain 3-star popcorn flick. That's what I expected from Winter Soldier, but those expectations were far surpassed! The only flaws I could find were nitpicks like preposterous physics in the climax but we all know to suspend disbelief in comic book movies, right?

Marvel have excelled themselves. A top class blockbuster!
Go see it. Eric great review but only 4 out of 5?
4.5 out of 5 for me.

Haven't seen winter soldier yet. But i like captain america in the first movie and avengers. With civil war comic storyline and avengers movie i have become a big fan of him because of scenes like when black widow said "they are practically Gods". And cap responding "m'am there is only one God and i'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that"

I am looking forward to watching winter soldier.
