Hiro Clix: Goten

10-01-2015: We're back with a brand new Dragon Ball Z inspired HeroClix Dial -- GOTEN!

In today’s Hiro Clix article we examine a character with a never used, hardly seen generic keyword, the Kid keyword. This keyword has had a hard time shining as all that can have even a small amount of potential is the Power Pack (while using the Fantastic Four TA with FF members) and Molly of the Runaways however, using Fantastic Four members is breaking theme and Molly is the only kid on a team of teens. Thus today Hiro Clix represents a kid with potential, Goten!

Hiro Clix HeroClix Golten

Goten is the second son of Goku who inherited much of his power from his saiyan father. He grew up under the mentorship of the Z-Fighter Piccolo since his father was dead (but not forever). Goten’s best friend is the son of Goku’s rival, Vegeta, and together the fuse into potentially the most powerful kid on Earth, Gotanks!

Hiro Clix: Attack on TitanWhile a traditional kid that rushes into battle, Goten begins with Hypersonic Speed which soon becomes Charge. He however doesn’t lack range with his father’s attack, Kamehameha or Kamekameha to Goten (who pronounces it wrong). As not being an expert on it, this special attack power is not quite as potent and powerful as Goku’s (see Insert link to Goku article) but it certainly has its uses. For 50 points, Goten has a lot of damage potential.

Playing with Goten: Goten is a fair secondary attacker that should be supported by a character with Outwit so he can really lay down the damage. The opening Hypersonic Speed is his only click of it so hiding him behind blocking and walls is a must. A support with Probability Control in his mid-dial would also be helpful to nail his Kamekameha attacks. Being that there are rarely Kid teams anymore, Goten is likely to break them (especially in sealed) but as such, he can at least benefit from his special defense power.

Playing against Goten: As mentioned, Goten’s likely course of action in the beginning is to Hypersonic Speed, shoot/punch, then hide. A good swarm is a good method to use against him since, after all, he only has Toughness for his best defense and most swarms have at least 2 damage. Once he is stopped in his tracks and loses Hypersonic Speed, poking him with the swarm should be quick and easy enough.

Your Comments:
50 points? Great filler. With the right primary attacker I'd have him poke with that hypersonic speed for awhile until that CCE comes in handy

Nice secondary attacker. Someone to keep at bay until alpha strikes have subsided.

Posted by: Stealthcat on 10/3/2015 4:51:19 AM
Goten would be a great third line attacker, put him in behind a tentpole attacker like AA Thor, who could give energy explosion to that kamekaameha attack, then sit back while the big piece attacks and holds a secondary or tentpole in place, just picking off secondary or third line pieces

Goten is great at 50pts. He can help someone with his Support as he taxi's them around. A good low point attacker with the Hypersonic, he can easily fit on any team.

Whoops, I mean combat value, not point value.

Posted by: Lord Logan on 10/1/2015 1:02:26 PM
@UhhitsJohn

Defend is to represent a compassionate traot that is suppose to represent Goten following his father's footsteps; this is a character accuracy reason.

For strategic reasons, Defend is there to help support other Kids which are likely to have a lower point value. Some adults, such as humans, may need the support too.

I need this so badly!!

Posted by: Alex on 10/1/2015 11:22:14 AM
Defend is an odd choice for Goten. Any particular reason why he has it?

This clix needs to have a companion clix of kid trunks then the Fusion:Gotenks ability. That would be awesome! This fusion ability could replace them with a Gotenks clix. I can see this series now. All the Z-Fighters and major villains. Lots of morph and Fusion: abilities. How cool would that be! Martial artist keywords everywhere to be used with likes of AvX Lin-Kuei to raise abilities, and a Master Roshi clix would just be awesome

Dragon Ball Z: A lot of shouting for no reason.

Goku at McDonalds:
"I WOULD LIKE A BIG MAC PLEASE!!!
AND A DIET COKE!!!"

Posted by: Gilly25 on 5/19/2015 7:01:01 AM
Hey DBZfan(boy), maybe they should give him a trait like this: If Goku is part of your force, you automatically win the game. That good enough for you? Jeeze, gimme a break! Goku is NOWHERE NEAR as powerful as you DBZ fanboys think. I am a DBZ fan myself, so I say this objectively (kinda)

Posted by: ClixKing on 3/8/2015 2:47:38 PM
Those pink powers on regular Goku are empower. Precision strike is in the attack slot.

Posted by: Nordles on 10/21/2014 8:24:59 PM
Good catch! The power should be errata'd with "...that deals no pushing damage..."

Posted by: Lord Logan on 10/15/2014 5:34:00 AM
You do realize that the Spirit Bomb on his last click in regular Goku form would kill him right? He needs something like Willpower instead of Defend in order to use it at all or else it is instant K.O. slight problem you might want to fix unless you have some other ability that the Z-fighters share.

cool. great discussion

Posted by: @dbzfan on 10/7/2014 11:55:06 AM
@dbz fan

The Sodam Yat idea is certainly good, I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps I'll incorporate that in future DBZ clix dials.

Posted by: Lord Logan on 10/6/2014 3:50:40 PM
@ lord logan

even before super saiyan goku should not have so many twos on his dial and to be honest the battlefield promotion is not the easiest to pull off in a traditional 10 rounds/45 min 300 pt game. so it will be rare to pull it off. at the very least he should have stop click that lets him transform. similar to sodam yat's dial

Posted by: dbz fan on 10/6/2014 10:05:27 AM
dang, it might be time to scour the internet for gashapon figures the right size for this.

Posted by: Darwin_green on 10/2/2014 6:26:43 AM
@DBz fan

You are correct that Goku is more powerful than what his first dial shows but, as the article states, this is a representation of how he begins his fights holding back. Like Superman, he works his way up during the fight and then when he is maxed, he'll step it up (i.e. Super Saiyan, etc).

Posted by: Lord Logan on 10/1/2014 4:51:12 PM
my first reaction to Goku's dial is, 25 points for 4 clicks? No way is that right. 25 points PER click is closer to the norm on a multi start line dial.

Posted by: superfriend on 10/1/2014 11:02:07 AM
why is hitting with 2 or 3 damage most of his dial. sigh. goku is alot stronger than this. what's the point of his instant transmission if he can't do anything after it. the whole point of that move is to get the drop on people. like i always thought i don't think this series is respected enough by superhero fans to ever get an accurate dial or close to accurate. lol these are krillin's stats
