HeroClix Capital City 3d objects HulkFat Dragon Games (FDG) sent me a cool new accessory for HeroClix and other Superhero games (Mutants & Masterminds, etc). FDG specializes in cardboard 3-d objects and printable maps, all contained in jpg/pdf for easy printing and assembling. Really, it's darned easy.

(note: This is not a paid advertisement. It's just a really cool product we want to highlight for our readers.)

Fat Dragon Games has a multitude of products, mostly for medieval settings and future settings, but we're just going to focus on their moderen setting products, since that's what works perfectly for HeroClix.

The set that Fat Dragon Games sent to us is CAPITAL CITY. This is just hella cool and brings a brand new realism to your games.

HeroClix Capital CityFrom the manufacturer:
CAPITAL CITY brings a visually stunning urban environment to your tabletop. Everything you need to create a dynamic city is included in this set, from streets and cars to buildings and all the accessories you've come to expect from FDG. Most files include user selectable graphic options, allowing you to customize your city your way. This set also includes support for 1" grid, 1.5 inch grid (clix miniature games), no grid, and 1" hexagons. This model set includes:
• 5 unique building styles, each with user definable graphic options
• Exclusive 'Quick Collapse' building design for easy transport and storage
• 1.5" grid street tiles • 1" grid street tiles • No grid street tiles • 1" hexagon grid tiles
• Crashed car • Taxi • Sinkhole tile • Dumpster • Fire escape • Fire • HVAC unit
• Rooftop access • Traffic light • Rooftop water tower
• Full color instructions • Beginners guide to card modeling
• User selectable graphics include pot holes, police tape, broken and boarded up windows, litter, body outlines (including super villain themed), various weathering effects, building details and color options, bird poop and much more!

Overall I found the pages super-easy to view and print. Constructing of the bigger pieces was a little more difficult for me, but I'm pretty sure it's just me -- I gave a printed set to one my friends, who emailed me the next day and said, "You're an idiot. My 16-year-old put everything together in under an hour."

My buddy and I played with the 3-D terrain it did add a lot more depth to the game experience, pun fully intended.I will say I've got a littele bias in favor of the product. My fiance's is brother in law runs Fat Dragon Games . In one of the sets my name appears on one of the buildings, Jose's Shoes

I have bought some of the Fat Dragon Games sets and they are fantastic. The art is great and the assembly is easy for a novice like myself. And I do have the Cthulhu set which was also a great buy!

brojase, just find some Cardboard-stock paper to print them on. Any printer will do. Honestly, you could probably get away with using regular printer paper, but your final product will be fragile. You can print them directly from a browser or other image program.

These Dumpsters are very cool. Print two on a page and they're only slightly larger than the good-ol' Dumpster 3D object. These fit perfectly in my case.

A couple of assembly tips on these, for those who haven't assembled them yet: Glue the back flap with the phone number last. Doing it this way made it easier for me to line up everything else and toss in a couple of packing peanuts for a bit of heft.

I'm really thinking about buying their stuff- it looks so good! I'm wondering what to use to print it out. Anyone have suggestions?

HarleysJoker, Fat Dragon Games allowed me to send the GREEN version of the Dumpster to our HeroClix World subscribers (see free subscription link at the very top) -- I like to do something special for them once in a while. Note that a number subscribers have NOT received it yet due to an email glitch I am trying to resolve. Thank you for your patience.

Fat Dragon makes great stuff. I loved their EZ Heroes set and Capital City is even better, with customizable layers in the PDF allowing you to choose which details to put on your building or street tile.

Wintremute, what do you mean by green?

This is a great set. As long as you have a good printer and some cardstock. Cant wait to try this out for my next clix game.

This looks great! I just got the Heavy Object set for X-mas last year and quickly went looking for a Canadian Postal Box at Hobby train stores only to be told I would have to pay a fortune for a custom paper one. The result of their example was far less than stellar and I walked away. This looks great and very promising. I look forward to seeing more endeavors.

Thanks for the free Dumpster FatDragon/HCW. Both the green and the blue.

This looks A-Mazing! Wanna get a set and see what my judge thinks about it...

This looks pretty good. Probably will be best for home games instead of regular tourneys. I think I'm going to pick it up. But the site is pretty good. Besides this set I'm thinking of buying the Mech Battle terrain set. It looks good and I asked FDG if its "to scale" with my old mechwarrior pieces. Besides heroclix, its the only other figure game being played at my venue.
