HeroClix War MachineOn Saturday May 1st (2010), comic book shops across the nation will be giving away free HeroClix Warmachine figures, and we've got the info! Here's what you need to know:

Name:
War Machine
Set: Hammer of Thor
Rarity: Super Rare, silver ring (unique)
Cost: 137
Range: 10 ??
Total Life: 8 clicks

Enough of this... Let's take a look at the card and dial. (There's actually nothing on the other side of the card, other than a Wizkids/HeroClix logo, so you're not missing anything)

HeroClix War Machine Dial

HeroClix Warmachine Card BackPersonally I love this dial. For 137 points we have a flying figure with an excellent range and huge Running Shot... and lots of upfront Invulnerability.

I'm actually shocked that this figure has no Special Powers. I've argued against the extreme proliferation of Special Powers in the past, and it seem as if Wizkids plans on giving every figure White Powers in the future. So Kudos to Wizkids for keeping this figure Special-Power-Free, and giving us a great dial. The best creativity comes from working within confines (not total freedom), and this dial proves it.

04-28-2010: Some of our readers requested that I scan the back of the War Machine card. Here you go!

Your Comments:
I own this figure. its a great figure and i think it should have some stronger defense....should be in 19-18s most of the time....when i play him he tends to die to quick....

If memory serves, the front end of the Armor Wars WM was similar to this, but nowadays attack seldom drops as precipitously as it used to, and I think the AW version was weak later on. This one holds up fairly nicely. Range 10 with RCE and two bolts is lovely, and a 9 attack at his weakest point is very nice.

Wow no white powers and a solid hitter and range attacker the only thing missing is either a SHIELD or Avengers Team Ability. Mind you not much room left under the keywords so you take what you can.

He just joined my Avengers team in a tourney. He looks pretty good and I like the new dial. He'll be a good secondary attacker for alot of teams I run. WK/N did a good job with him.

I have been looking forward to this FCBD for months since saw a pic of it in previews months ago. I will also be picking up a few TBATB boosters. Its gonna be a good weekend!!

Note: This figure uses the same mold/sculpt as the War Machine from Marvel Armor Wars. However, the dial/stats are completely new. This dial has never been seen in HeroClix before (and frankly, this new dial far superior to the Armor Wars versions of War Machine).

It makes me really miss clear plastic flight stands.....(sigh). I think the pose would be more dynamic on a flight stand, rather than having his right foot on a rock. It's still a nice figure though. I'm pretty sure it's the same (stat wise) as the Vet War Machine from Armor Wars.
