#7 ISSUE 365

Issue 365 was really the ultimate gimmick at the time. As part of the 30th Anniversary of Spider-Man, four "hologram" covers were commisioned for the current Spider-Man titles at the time (Amazing, Web, Spectacular, and just Spider-Man).

When these babies were released, they sold out fast -- in the aftermarket they were going for $15+ each. Back in 1992, comic book speculation was at an all-time high, which just added gas to the overpriced fire. (side note: I was one of the fools that bought 5 copies of anything with a "#1" on the cover. That's right, I helped cause the 90's comic book crash).

To this day I have no idea what the stories were about in these books, but I can tell you that the hologram covers were really cool (I still have 3 of each in my attic). My understanding is that Marvel actually created real models and laser scanned them to create the hologram.

I have no idea how they did it, but I urge you all to find a copy of this book today -- if only to cut out the hologram and put it on your fridge. I've seen them as cheap as $2 on eBay and it's a real topic starter at the office!
