Angel wasn't my favorite character of the series, but he really showed his stuff in his own spin off show, Angel. In many ways Angel was superior to Buffy if only because the last seasons of Buffy had way too much whining from Buffy herself. Still, Angel as a character added a nice twist to story lines when needed.
