Galactic Guardians Gravity Feed Super SkrullPlayers that enjoy using Skrull theme teams are sure to get a boost with the upcoming “Galactic Guardians” set. Speaking of Skrull’s, it’s time we have a look at another cosmic threat from the Skrull Empire, #208 in the “Gravity Feed” set -- the Super Skrull!

(Click left image to see full dial)

Like many of the other figures from this set, this version of Super Skrull is ranked a rookie. It is safe to assume the main set will offer a more powerful take on the character with a higher point cost. At 100 points however, this version provides a more economical option for players to use.

Keywords
Super Skrull has two keywords for theme team building; Skrull & Warrior. If nothing else, at least he has both a generic and non generic option for us to work with.

Combat values
Super Skull’s combat values aren’t terrible, they just aren’t spectacular either. His combat values start out just fine, but as he takes damage he slowly loses his potency. Super Skrull’s combat values include a range of (6) with a single targeting bolt, and 6 clix of life. Ok, so his values are kind of average. Let’s see what his powers can do for him.

Special Powers
Super Skrull comes to the battle map equipped with two special powers. The first is called Invisible Shields and Rock Skin. This special power allows you to choose between Energy Shield/Deflection, Stealth or Toughness at the end of your turn. Options are always good and I’m sure some might feel that choosing between Energy Shield Deflection and Stealth is a no brainer. Nevertheless, when you consider there are quite a few characters out there that can ignore the effects of stealth, having the option to choose Energy Shield Deflection is not such a bad thing.

HeroClix OnlineToughness is always a good choice and probably the best choice if you are in close combat. The greatest thing about this power is that you choose at “the end” of your turn. This allows you to play your turn out and see what the opposition can throw at you before you make your choice.

His second special power is called Rock Fists and Elastic Arms. This Special power allows Super Skrull to use Close Combat Expert, but with a twist. He can target characters up to 3 spaces away and still benefit from Close Combat Expert for added damage! The catch is he has to be able to draw a line of fire to the target.

News Flash!!! The SUPER SKRULL and SKRULL ASSASSIN are both available at the HeroClix Online store this Thursday for just 45 cents! Come join the HeroClix Online community now!

@Tiny Tim: The Slade Files are not "reviews" -- they are analysis on ways to play with and against certain characters in the HeroClix World (see what I did there?).

Nice dial. Kind of a blah review.

Fists and Arms is something similar to what should be on every Mr.Fantastic piece.

Rock Fists & Elastic Arms SP is going to be one of those weirdo power descriptions that going to be in question by a lot of players. I'm assuming since it's still a close combat attack then powers like ESD & hindering terrain bonsues won't work even though it's coming from 3 squares away and requires LOF?

On the other hand I do like Invisible Shields and Rock Skin SP. It's always good to have options! I think at 100 pts. this version of Super Skrull, while not a powerhouse by any stretch, is a very tactical finese piece for it's points in the hands of a good player.

Seriously nice spread of abilities. He goes from being a mild annoyance piece thanks to stealth/energy shield/shapechange/skrulls TA to being quite the formidable tie up piece. He may not even be viable for secondary attacker status, but in larger games he's going to easily stop teams that tend to cluster and stay close together.

Yes yes, I see Kl'rt, but what I'm really curious about is if he can team with Praxagora in the main set.

I do love Stealth as one of the defense options.
