X-Men Days of Future Past HeroClix Spoilers...

01-03-2014: Our first X-Men Days of Future Past HeroClix Spoiler is the powerful Nimrod! You can play Nimrod at 150, 250, or a whopping 350 points! He's Ridiculous!

Throw some Automatic Regeneration on him for Golden Age games and he's a beast!

HeroClix Nimrod Dial Days of Future Past

Nimrod's powers include Hypersonic Speed, Sidestep, Pulse Wave, Precision Strike, Impervious, Probability Control, Empower, Invincible, Regeneration, Outwit, Energy Explosion, Phasing/Teleport, and Running Shot

From wikipedia:
"The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future."

Your Comments:
Went to see the movie last night. Very happy with it. Hope you all like it too.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/27/2014 11:39:35 AM
The reports are coming in on this. Nimrod is definitely NOT 1 per case. Numerous cases (2 sealed GFs in one sealed box) have been opened with no Nimrod found.

I predict the result will be that Nimrod is amazingly expensive on the 2ndary market while the rest of the pieces will be cheap. Especially the commons and uncommons. The rares may retain some value for a while, but Nimrod will be THE piece to have. The exception will be the various Sentinels as some players like to collect multiples of generics.

It will be interesting to see.

I have been informed this set should be out this week.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/19/2014 1:06:14 PM
With Deadpool out, this set is up next. End of May.

I may not be excited for the characters which have been made a lot or very recently, but I am looking forward to picking up Angel and the Freedom Force members.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/16/2014 6:55:27 AM
Nimrod, DOFP #024 is the chase in the GF. Expectation is that if you get a sealed case, 2 full sealed GF in the same master box, you should get a Nimrod. But as with all random blind box, nothing is guaranteed.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/12/2014 7:59:30 AM
Is nimrod part of the sentinel scenario or is he in the feed?

Posted by: me on 5/10/2014 9:41:55 AM
Franklin was killed to early in the original book so they did not show how powerful he was in this form. Rachael claimed the phoenix power during her time in the regular time line. But yea being a rookie version looks nice.

Posted by: scourge101 on 5/9/2014 5:46:43 PM
Franklin and rachel should of been a lot more powerful. They could of done three different point cost. I mean rachel Grey (Summers) has the phoenix power and Franklin can manipulate reality and he did this as a child. Boooooo.

Posted by: pandab0mb on 5/9/2014 3:58:38 PM
And with today's preview, Franklin Richards is finally confirmed and we have the whole set!

Posted by: superfriend on 5/9/2014 10:15:29 AM
So two questions about nightcrawler. Can he use the prob more than once per turn? Like if he's attacked 3 times in a round can he use prob each time? Also, If he's targeted with flurry, does he get to use prob for each roll?

Posted by: jwats on 5/7/2014 2:38:39 PM
# Storm: Really pricey for a 7 click dial at 150! That second click, with the transporter ability, should do decent damage whilst being hard to hit but I'm reluctant to push a figure of that price range. Marvel 10th Storm (or even the old danger room one) would be my preference.

#Moira: Really glad to see this figure made. She is a pretty important X-universe character and a great medic combined with the X-men TA on her probably allies (Infinite health cheat activated!). Fortunately she can be KOd by practically any modern age figure in one hit (she's one click too deep for my tastes actually) so if the trait or healing annoys your opponent she'll be gone!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 5/7/2014 7:53:25 AM
I like the Moira figure but don't think i need to make room on my team for a medic most times. Its funny to see what you get here tho compared to the 28pt Jane Foster.

Posted by: Predator on 5/4/2014 11:59:02 AM
As far as I'm concerned the Capture ability should not even exist, so Moira's trait is perfectly fine with me. If anything she's far too effective of a healer for that point cost.

Posted by: Adamantium on 5/2/2014 12:35:33 PM
@Superfriend, I can understand the lack of excitement about people like Moira, but I can tell you that I much prefer seeing these characters in 3D rather than as a pog. And I definitely like having them in case I'm doing a scenario replaying an X-Men scenario where the X-Men try to protect Senator Kelly against a Brotherhood assassination or whatever.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 5/2/2014 11:51:07 AM
#Moira MacTaggert
@LE, I'm not sure the trait is unfair, not after seeing Senator Robert Kelly. The trait only comes into play if the opposing player brings pieces with the capture ability. Other than Sentinels, its pretty rare in the game (Leash from the Teen Titans set has it). Its VERY situational.

Overall, I'm not a fan of people pieces. The alter ego thing does nothing for me. I'd rather have another costumed character than Bruce Wayne, Matt Murdock or Bruce Banner. Lucius Fox and Moria here are in the same category. I want to re-enact or create super hero battles, not face down civilians.

So for me, this set is pick up singles of the Freedom Force members on the secondary market and spend the money on the Deadpool set instead.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/2/2014 11:15:14 AM
Ah, but were they in the DOFP comic story? That is what seems to really be the driving force behind character selection here.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/1/2014 6:22:41 AM
Freedom Force? I wont some Mutant Liberation Front!!! They are in the "never made category"!!

Posted by: che on 4/29/2014 8:59:42 AM
In case you missed it, the DOFP set has been delayed.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/25/2014 7:10:48 AM
I think its more about Freedom Force membership than Brotherhood, WK trying to get as much of Freedom Force included in this set as they can, the same way WK put the cast of the most recent Legion Lost comic in SLOSH.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/23/2014 11:04:42 AM
I'm glad blob is in the set, only blob i can think of is from gsx
Good to see another being made

Posted by: Christian on 4/19/2014 11:42:59 PM
Thats a terrible blob. So many other choices for brotherhood but another blob.

Posted by: HeroclixHater on 4/19/2014 3:16:57 PM
best Wolverine ever!

Posted by: Apov1 on 4/19/2014 8:30:29 AM
I thought it was 2x Storm, but every pic I found of Storm was the same figure, so I thought I was mistaken. Also, I miscounted my own list.

I think with your additions we are at 23 out of 24.
I wonder what the last one is.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/17/2014 10:27:21 AM
@superfriend
Confirmed
X2 Storm

Not positive but thought i saw mention of these two as well
Moira MacTaggert
Rachel Summers

If so thats 22

Posted by: Predator on 4/15/2014 8:22:41 AM
So
2x Colossus
2x Kitty
2x Wolverine
Storm
Nightcrawler
Angel
Prof X
Magneto
Avalanche
Blob
Destiny
Mystique
Pyro
Senator Kelly
2x Sentinel
Nimrod

19 out of 24.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/15/2014 6:59:12 AM
@superfriend yes we will have a second colossus in this set, his sculpt was previewed on their twitter in his prison camp gear and mid transformation.

As for this one i love the trait and special power and I've said on here before i don't mind repeat characters if they can fill different roles at different point values, but at these points and lack of keywords I'll prob reach for other versions better for their points.

Posted by: Predator on 4/11/2014 5:45:38 PM
Rumor is there are 2 versions of Colossus in DOFP. My guess is pre and post like Wolverine and Kitty Pride. There will be a lot of Colossi in Modern Age after this set comes out!

Posted by: superfriend on 4/11/2014 9:47:27 AM
I didnt like DoFP kitty. I liked the WatX kitty better.

I agree that some characters are being released way too much and way to soon, but they kinda had to with DoFP since some characters (wolverine) were importan in the story line same with t-bolts.

As an x-men fan i am extremely happy with all the sets and with the upcoming war of light and rumored flash set im more than happy. My wallet isn't and that makes me sad.

Posted by: pandab0mb on 4/10/2014 8:52:44 PM
I hope that between WatX, DOFP, and Deadpool, the X-Men fans are VERY happy for a long time.

WatX: As I said, I loved WatX. Every piece I have played has had some interesting stuff revealed as I played it.

DOFP needs to venture more into characters I have not seen in a long while to make me want it more. The Brotherhood/Freedom Force are a good step, but I'm not excited about more Wolverine, Kitty, Storm, Colossus, Prof X, etc, so soon.

Deadpool is hitting it out of the park so far. Deadpool Corps, Bullseye, Cable, Venom, ... Except for Daredevil and Punisher - who I feel got over exposed in Hulk - I am stoked for everything announced for this set.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/10/2014 8:01:13 AM
Sorry. Was talking about one set and then bomb drop another. I meant WatX. Dont get me wrong i liked WatX, but i wanted to love it since I'm a huge x-men fan especially the 90s. I just felt some important models were missing. I just dont want to feel the same way about the deadpool set. I do like my big bertha( or what my nephew calls mommy just to anger my sister) and my white lantern magneto.

DoFP im very excited about especially with nimrod and sentinels in it.

Posted by: pandab0mb on 4/8/2014 10:08:06 PM
Deadpool better than WatX? Or do you mean Deadpool better than DOFP?

Overall, I loved WatX. I've played a lot of games using figs from that set and I still have a number of teams I want to run from it. Also, still need to hunt down a few pieces like Gambit and Magneto (snagged Bishop the other day).

Posted by: superfriend on 4/7/2014 10:11:36 AM
I like 3D pogs - they should just be closer to 10-20 pts is all, like the Toymaster's toys. I agree with Mantis Warrior that the humanitarian (get it?) senator is well-designed.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 4/7/2014 8:13:31 AM
OK maybe i'm devil's advocate here but I like Senator Kelly. Remember this is a Days of Future Past themed set and he is the reason (along with the MR act) for the story and therefore set's existence. The fact that including him in your team effectively puts the MRA in play is pretty cool. The way it works, forcing 'mutants' to go slower and do less to avoid being spotted by authorities and therefore shot (the damage from pushing in my imagination)is fine by me. I object to his other support powers somewhat but he's very K.O.-able (which gives your team even more determination to fight harder, thus saving his unconscious behind and preventing the sentinel rampage in the future)

Sorry The Le, I'm going with "cool fig" on this one!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 4/5/2014 6:25:53 AM
I'm still looking forward to this set. I like some of the characters. Especially the sentinels and nimrod. Older wolvy is a bit pricy, but I like him. I can see why some people are disappointed. I also expected a bit more. Hopefully the deadpool set is better than WatX set.

Posted by: pandab0mb on 4/5/2014 1:49:18 AM
the esteemed Senator from the State of ...

Just No. Lets stop including characters which have essentially no combat skills. Did we need Lucius Fox? No. We certainly did not need Lucius Fox in both movie and comic book versions. Did we need Howard Stark? No. Jonah Jameson? No.

While I might field a piece like this in sealed to fill points and get the support powers, I would never run them in constructed. For a few points more I'd run a cheap version of Batman instead.

That said, his trait is pretty cool.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/4/2014 11:18:07 AM
As for the Emerald Empress, - Yeah! DC set hijack of Marvel preview thread - I greatly enjoyed running her and Persuader at their lower point levels with Tharok in a 400 pt game. To be honest, my opponent put his piece just within running shot / psy blast range so I skipped picking up the eye and did the RS + PB combo to hit his Mr Majestic. That roll may have even missed, but the look on his face when he was sure I would spend the action picking up the Eye was worth it. I went back and grabbed the Eye only after Majestic was KOed.

Posted by: superfriend on 4/3/2014 7:24:52 AM
I'll back the Wolverine commentary. It's a cool effect if you can pull it off, but it's going to be difficult to pull it off.

As for PW, it's not so much PW that's the problem it seems as the character selection. That said, against a good player a single figure PW is not always the easiest thing to pull off. And I think Emerald Empress is relatively balanced. Been seeing her played a lot recently and while she starts off great...after she takes a hit and loses the Eye I don't often see her pick it up again and she's relatively easy to handle after she's off those top clicks.

Posted by: Analysis on 4/2/2014 2:48:51 PM
Was all about buying a gravity feed for this set but...yeah. The rares are garbage. The only things I'd even want would be Destiny, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine (All uncommons). Such a shame, I was really looking forward to the set.

Posted by: jwats on 3/30/2014 11:15:33 AM
How do you spell overcosted?
W..O...L...V...
I love the potential of the new Wolverine (20 defence with a 14 attack perma-stealthed an un-counterable) when adjacent to 3 foes. However he seems to be costed as if he's permanently in that situation! Perhaps you could build around him to profit but it hardly seems worth it.

Such a shame as the sculpt is fantastic!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 3/29/2014 7:20:07 AM
@jake: I wish I implemented a 'Like' feature, just so I could 'Like' your post.

Posted by: The Le on 3/28/2014 1:37:00 PM
I seems like there trying to make x-men lose AvX.

Posted by: jake on 3/28/2014 1:33:05 PM
Wow this wolverine is garbage. And a "rare"? gtfo.

Posted by: Jwats on 3/28/2014 11:32:45 AM
If you are an X-Men fan who cannot get enough, this set is for you. Today's preview of a 2nd Wolverine, which we already knew was in the set, does nothing for me. I was huge into WatX, but many of the pieces here leave me cold.

Why? I think its mostly because I took a break. When the game folded after Arkham Asylum, the store stopped running events and I stopped playing. I only got back in with Superman and Hulk. So I missed GSX. That meant it had been a long time since I had seen most of the X-Men in clix form. Now we have DOFP which feels like mostly a retread of WatX. Today's preview of Wolverine reinforces the feeling that "I just got these characters."

I am excited for pieces like Pyro and Avalanch, and the Deadpool set looks amazing, but at this point, buying into DOFP blind boxed feels crazy. This set feels like 2ndary market singles, which I haven't done since Marvel 10th.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/28/2014 9:18:15 AM
" Hawkeye, Green Arrow, Punisher they all need PW or PB just because."

I have no issue with giving these guys PB or EW if their damage is 1 on that click. The problem is when you give - well anyone - the defense ignoring powers and a damage of 3 or more.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/24/2014 9:38:41 AM
@Analysis and Wacko,

Pulse Wave itself is not broken, but the way it's used in newer dials might be. Take Emerald Empress on her first click. She can Running Shot and Pulse Wave EVERY TURN (because she can do so as a free action after she has 2 action tokens). Rather than using Pulse Wave as an AoE, she can position herself to hit one opposing figure for 4 clicks every turn, where the target has no bonuses to their defense or powers with which to defend themselves.

Check out how many newer figures cost 200 pts or so on click 1 and 100 pts on click #4. Emerald Empress can conceivably cost an opponent 100 pts per turn!

Posted by: Kragnorak on 3/24/2014 7:59:16 AM
@Thordude12

There are multiple sentinels in this set.

1. There is a colossal/giant that comes in a separate box which I think the stores have to order separately. Think of the Batman 66 set with the Batman 66 Batmobile.

2. The Sentinel Alpha 3 previewed on Friday is numbered 023. The main set includes 24 pieces that we know of, so this one should be in the single packs like the rest of the pieces in this set.

3. Considering how integral sentinels are to the story, I expect we will see an additional version in a common slot.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/24/2014 7:10:08 AM
I wonder if the sentinel will come in the pack like it did in the giants size x-men

Posted by: Thordude12 on 3/21/2014 4:08:58 PM
"Sentinel Alpha 3 Dial is a beast" - I agree. Kind of interesting to compare big point pieces. Would you spend 300 points on this or All-Star Superman? I really don't want to see this on the other side of the board.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/21/2014 1:19:37 PM
@Analysis well it's the amount they throw around all those powers to often to a weaker clix to help balance them out. Like Hawkeye, Green Arrow, Punisher they all need PW or PB just because. Sure Green Arrow had 1 arrow that could kill superman but you miss that 1 shot and he's screw.. lol

Posted by: Wacko on 3/21/2014 11:25:17 AM
@Wacko: Pulse Wave/Psychic Blast/(and I assume you meant Exploit Weakness and not CCE) aren't really problems. Pulse Wave is the great equalizer in the game and since it tends to be limited to 1 damage it's not all that brutal. PB and EW are meant to represent finding a weakness. It's Outwit that's the real problem for those defensive powers.

Posted by: Analysis on 3/20/2014 2:00:36 PM
I @#$%# hate how broken pulse wave is area damange abilities shouldn't EVER be penetrating. Yes I understand it's limited to 1 damage but still your telling me a guy with a gun/grenade/bow shouldn't be able to do damage to anyone with some type of defense ability. The logic is flawed... Oh no it's superman hurry up shot next to him then he can't deflect the attack. Dont get me wrong psy blast or close combat is something totally different I also think both those abilities are broken in their own right over used way too much but I'll leave that rant for another soapbox... lol

Posted by: Wacko on 3/18/2014 7:52:04 AM
i find it interesting that 009 is an Uncommon. What are people expecting?
8 common
8 uncommon
5 rare
3 sr / chase ?
similar to Marvel 10th?

Posted by: superfriend on 3/17/2014 6:22:23 AM
I wouldn't say 'stop' (pulse wave), but yes you'd still get to probability control it once. it once. 11 on a 17 is a 50/50 shot of a hit.

Posted by: Novacalico on 3/16/2014 9:08:23 AM
I like him. This set looks awesome so far. doesnt his everywhere at once stop pulse wave? I just want to make sure. Thanks.

Posted by: pandab0mb on 3/15/2014 2:16:09 AM
Holy hell. Praying I get this Nightcrawler in my gravity feed!! Thing is SICK!

Posted by: jwats on 3/14/2014 6:18:22 PM
Let us not forget the Outsiders TA would render his trait useless. His weak point will be clicks 3 and 4 without the probability. One solid hit on those and he is down. No bcf with his teleport ability is a bit of a dissapointment, but flurry is a fair exchange. Even still, he is a great replacement for the existing nighcrawlers; not crazy overpowered, not undefeatable, but still definately a threat.

Posted by: Novacalico on 3/14/2014 11:04:58 AM
I'm curious what Nightcrawler's trait costs compared to +2 Defense on every click.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 3/14/2014 10:27:50 AM
DOFP Nightcralwer is up. And its going to be hard to take him down. Traited CR and ESD? PC on every attack? The only reason I can see for giving CR and ESD as a trait instead of just upping his defense by 2 in pure stat numbers is for when the powers cannot be used. Since it is a trait, it cannot be outwitted. To me, that only leaves Pulse Wave. Going to need to pack some PC of your own to get this piece off the map.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/14/2014 9:45:59 AM
Played against the AvX Prof X last night. If you can get to him, avoiding the "double power action" thing, he's hitable, but he has mastermind to shift the damage to an underling.

I paid the double power action cost of two tokens until I took out the mastermind candidates and then hit Prof X to get rid of that. But its a pain to deal with. Anyone with one token cannot do a power action. Free actions and clear.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/11/2014 2:40:38 PM
Avalanche certainly has some potential with a little TK for positioning but I'm overall diappointed. Been waiting for ages for a new special powered version and was hoping for something a bit more tidal wavy than big bombish. A moving barrier that caused damage and knockback would have been much cooler. Also does his helmet fall off mid dial?

On the +ve I do love the sculpt.

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 3/8/2014 1:05:11 PM
I really like this avalanche. That earthen tidal wave could be mean

Posted by: pandab0mb on 3/7/2014 7:00:41 PM
Do my eyes deceive me or is that wolverine uncommon?

Posted by: jwats on 3/7/2014 6:27:14 PM
I like the new Avalanche, especially the Earthen Tidal Wave.

Overall, I see a lot of characters that were just in WX and some as recent as AvX. I'm probably going to get some, but my focus will be on characters not made in WX and AvX. That may mean picking them up on the secondary market or trading for them instead of the usual blind purchase.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/7/2014 12:21:37 PM
If we are going to compare Prox X dials, we might want to look at the AvX piece as well.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/6/2014 5:21:16 AM
#Prof X
Probably my first 'meh' of the set so far. The GSX version is so much better AND cheaper. No LOF needed is great but having to get within 8 squares with the new version is going to leave your un-counterable, unmodifyable, non-existent defence up for a good clobberin'!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 3/4/2014 12:08:08 PM
dofp wolverine 3 clix of empower are helpful for weak cheap figs to make up for 130 pt cost. i just wish combat reflexes
would change the rule to give the attacked cr character the option of staying put or being knocked back the damage amount(even if the damage is not taken).

Posted by: plowshares on 2/18/2014 8:35:41 AM
DoFP Wolverine is using Regeneration 2 out of every 3 turns. It's difficult to beat that.

As for range, both are just as likely to be picked off by ranged attacks. If your team is going to allow that to happen then neither is right for the team.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/17/2014 12:04:12 PM
I've had a lot of success with the WatX 001 Wolverine. You can push him and then heal him at the beginning of your next turn, effectively leaving him on the same click. To me his sweet spot is click 3 with the Invincible. Just feeling overwhelmed with Wolverine at this point.

Posted by: superfriend on 2/17/2014 7:07:01 AM
Dofp Wolvie will get picked of by ranged attacks before he gets a chance to flurry + B/C/F, I prefer the cheaper option.

Posted by: Shaft on 2/16/2014 2:58:06 PM
Dofp Wolverine is far and away the best Wolverine ever printed. Charge flurry blades is a ruthless combo. And push to do it twice, (no one can super senses out of it, thanks precision strike) and regeneration for free.

I like the look of WATX dial over the DOFP dial Wolverine simply because the point cost is cheaper, the Healing Factor is automatic, and the defense is slightly better overall.

Ok so.. Not only is the superman and LOSH set delayed not one but two weeks, but marvel seems to be getting three consecutive sets in days of future, that stupid looking deadpool set and guardians. And there will probably be no more updates for the DC set. Good to know who Wizkids and NECA favour. Way to go. I am seriously considering quitting heroclix. The only solace i have is that wizkids keeps releasing the same marvel figures just in different poses.

Posted by: HeroclixHater on 2/14/2014 7:07:00 PM
Needs to be corrected. That is not the Giant Sized X-Men Wolverine, but the Wolverine and the X-Men common.

Posted by: Sentry on 2/14/2014 7:04:38 PM
Re Wolverine: I'm liking him. Countering Berserker Barrage! really slows him down. But overall he's looking pretty good. Like superfriend I like that Regeneration as a trait. And having Indomitable means he'll be using it frequently as well.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/14/2014 4:05:09 PM
Wolverine?
Really?
I mean I know there are probably at least 2 versions of Logan in the set, but previewing them is not going to get me excited for this. We all know the big names will be in here. I need to see the less frequently made characters to determine how much I will buy.

The traited Regen is nice, but other than that, nothing new here.

Regarding Pyro, I like that dropping the construct is a free action. Too many characters need to waste time with their bystander token. This Pyro can spend time attacking rather than spending time to get a bystander into play. That said, while I'm not as bothered by the lack of defensive abilities as some, I do think GSX Pyro is better in the end. That special power on GSX Pyro makes him deadly to everyone.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/8/2014 10:05:18 AM
I really like that new Pyro! A lot of figures can drop down bystanders these days but Pyro really deserves to! I would have preferred a little LESS mobility on Pyro himself and more on his construct (which seems more fitting for the character) but I'm stoked that we're getting a common Pyro that really works.

@The Le: Really good idea pasting the older version for comparison. We now clearly have a defensive and offensive Pyro to choose between.

@ Superfriend: Good point on the invulnerable issue but at 90 points for this Pyro i'm glad he can at least chip away at the tougher figures. Not comic accurate but makes him playable.

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 2/8/2014 6:48:14 AM
This Pyro is just Ok. I feel shorted not having barrier but relieved that he gets the RS/SSt with EE and the construct is cool being good for those surprise drops and poison in one turn. A lot of things are better at that 90-100 point range so he will probably just end up on large brotherhood theme teams for me and never something really competitive.

Posted by: Predator on 2/7/2014 5:45:41 PM
That is pricey for 90 points...No Shield!!!!

Posted by: David on 2/7/2014 2:40:17 PM
#Pyro
I like the running shot/sidestep Energy Explosion combo.

I have an issue with the fire creature. Why the exploit weakness? 2 Damage for fire I can see. Buy why should Superman take damage from fire? I think invulnerable characters should be "invulnerable" to fire.

Posted by: superfriend on 2/7/2014 9:34:44 AM
@Predator
Your reasoning of wanting lots of your favorite character is fine. I prefer a more diverse character choice than a diverse dial choice for one character. Why? Because I find playing the same character over and over again to be boring.

Simply, for me, 1 version each of Colossus, Hulk and Thing is better than 3 versions of any of them. Having missed GSX (I did not play between Arkham Asylum and Superman), I found myself wanting all of WatX because I had not seen any of the characters in a long time. SLOSH makes me feel a bit less excited every time they preview another character that was made in Superman (ie Lex, Bizarro, Wildfire) and more excited when they preview a character we have not seen in forever (ie Orion, Emerald Empress, Stargirl) or ever (ie Lightray, Blok, Highfather, Universo).

Posted by: superfriend on 2/3/2014 7:23:05 AM
Destiny is awesome. Im excited for this set more than i was for watx. Want that nimrod for a sentinel army. Would like to see a new bastion but i know he doesnt belong in this set.

Posted by: Pandabomb on 2/2/2014 3:30:58 PM
@Superfriend from a while back
I don't care how many version of a single character we get as long as each has different point value and or unique roles/aspects they bring to a team such as the brawler on his own to scare a team -Juggs/Phoenix or the defenders that support groups and funtion better when multiple figs move forward with defend and empower or duos split/merge but no single version will ever have all the special powers. Plus as i said Colossus is my favorite and with both versions confirmed in this set i have many different theme options with him such as mystic, brute, xmen, future, acolytes, defenders, excalibur, warrior, armor, etc. And of course i love the abundance of it all because of how long we waited for a viable colossus

Posted by: Predator on 2/1/2014 5:36:17 PM
I like the back and forth Battlefield promotion effect between the two versions of Kitty Pride.

Posted by: superfriend on 1/31/2014 3:19:49 PM
@Superfriend. Good catch -- I have moved the angel preview to this article, page 5.

Posted by: The Le on 1/31/2014 11:15:23 AM
@LE
the Angel preview belongs here, in DOFP.

I LOVER HER!! I NEED HER!!!

Posted by: JasonCR on 1/27/2014 7:45:23 AM
Oops I meant her Damage abilty...

Posted by: SeekerMuadib on 1/24/2014 12:54:19 PM
Destiny....just wow. I do not even care about her attack power. That Trait and her Defence ability, all for 50 points. Yeah we will be seeing alot of her in play.

Posted by: SeekerMuadib on 1/24/2014 12:51:52 PM
isnt not is....

Posted by: decoder on 1/20/2014 1:55:16 PM
...ok..?? how come that sentinel is a giant size ?????? really???!!! and if he's by a "Square of blocking lines of fire are blocked at him?? wtf??

Posted by: decoder on 1/20/2014 1:53:55 PM
Or the book of the skull and a hammer. 9 points = automatic pickup and +2 to attack. Don't leave home without it.

Posted by: superfriend on 1/16/2014 9:18:52 AM
@superfriend Just wait until you see people slapping resources on them, and maxing out on cheap Perplexers. Might as well make it 16 attack 9 damage. With Multiattack. *rolls eyes*

Posted by: Adamantium on 1/12/2014 6:45:38 PM
The new Sentinel is amazing. But not something I want to see on the table across from me. I know it should be amazing and it should be able to take on a squad of other characters, but in terms of game balance, an attack of 13 with 6 damage that cuts thru defenses (thanks to either pulse wave or exploit weakness) is just not my idea of fun.

It is easy enough to hit with a 16 defense, but I'd rather see the inherent toughness of these colossal pieces represented by long dials and not by overpowering damage and attack that can barely miss. Hitting on a 4 or higher is not a challenge.

Posted by: superfriend on 1/10/2014 2:11:55 PM
DOFP could definitely use an Avalanche and a Destiny. Neither have been made since Clobberin' Time (over a decade ago.) I love Mystique and would always be about another of her. I'm just not a Blob fan so I'm not sure I need another and would like to see that slot go elsewhere. And finally, I think the GSX Pyro is pretty great so it probably doesn't need a remake.

Posted by: Analysis on 1/8/2014 2:30:58 PM
@Predator:
How many versions one character do you need at a time? Versions of Colossus since this past summer: WatX, WatX GF, FI Juggernaut, WatX Phoenix powered, AvX starter.

Me:
DOFP may have a bunch of remakes of recent characters, particularly the bigger name X-Men, but what I am looking forward to and hope to pull will be those who have been made less recently like Mystique, Blob, Pyro, Avanche, Destiny.

Correction- first appearance of Nimrod, "Uncanny X-Men" #191.

Posted by: Ho1ocau5t on 1/4/2014 9:29:49 PM
@mario

Actually his trained multi attack only works at 350pt value

Posted by: The GOG on 1/4/2014 1:01:20 PM
no they did not nimrod will be another broken fig, for 150 he can running shot you for 4 x2

Posted by: mario on 1/4/2014 7:56:19 AM
wow did they really not learn after making sentry and void?

Posted by: boobin on 1/4/2014 5:00:42 AM
I just wanna say *WOW* about Nimrod. Sculpt looks to be based on John Romita Jr's artwork from the issue of his first appearance, which I believe is Uncanny X-Men #194, very cool. His white powers are phenomenal. Nuff said!

Posted by: Ho1ocau5t on 1/3/2014 11:10:17 PM
Also wanted to say Heck Yea on Another Colossus and as it looks like we are getting old and young versions of wolvie and storm i can only hope for an old man colossus. The Ruskie is my favorite comic character of all time and i love to have all the options and cool sculpts to chose from to fit any team :)

Posted by: Predator on 1/3/2014 6:00:47 PM
I just wanted to point out that all tho a very similar pose that is not a reused sentinel sculpt biggest difference is the leg stance has been switched, and it looks like this one will be on a standard size base

Posted by: Predator on 1/3/2014 5:55:03 PM
The Sentinel sculpt they used is actually from the Days of Future Past. The one with Cannonball was no longer used by that time. So I imagine this made more sense to them.

I agree I wish they had not reused a sculpt.

Posted by: lordoracle on 11/16/2013 9:59:23 AM
yeah they should have reused variant with cannonball but repainted to match the regular (wolverine) one, if any at all.

very happy for the avalanch & destiny sculpt tho.

Posted by: Ste on 10/20/2013 11:55:25 AM
Seriously? They recycled the Sentinel sculpt? Lame!

Posted by: Fang the Javatar on 10/2/2013 6:25:37 PM
I'm happy we are getting an Avalanche remake and a Destiny remake. That Wolverine looks really cool too. Does anyone think we will get a Hound remake? Franklin Richards (adult)? I wouldn't mind another Rogue. Compared to the other X-men she is one of the X-men with the least amount of remakes. Blob and Pyro from GSX are really good, imo.

Posted by: Dan on 10/1/2013 2:09:08 AM
Finally, Avalanche!!! Hmm, this must mean we're gonna get ANOTHER Blob, Pyro and Rogue remakes? Ugh, I hope not. The GSX versions are good enough. And I can't wait for the movie!!! Awesome...

Posted by: Ho1ocaust on 9/30/2013 11:03:18 PM
I'm really looking forward to the movie too! I am hoping it will be better than the other 4, and with the time-traveling, maybe they will fix some of the mistakes. ...Maybe lol.

This is the first I'm hearing from this set. It's X-men related so I know I will want them. I had better start saving my money again.

Posted by: Dan on 9/30/2013 6:43:55 PM
wow im pretty excited for this movie and set it is going to be sweet
