#3 Line of Fire Tool
Laser Badge ToolFiguring out line of fire (LOF) is critical during games. It needs to be quick, fast, and reliable. So forget that chart in the back of the rulebook!  The easiest and most common method is to use a line of fire tool. The tool can be as simple as a piece of string or as complex as a laser pointer.

Probably the most common tool used is the ID badge clip. These can be found at any office supply store and have a retractable string attached to them. Place one end in the target square and pull out the string until you get to the originating square. When your done it rolls itself back into the badge clip for easy storage.  It's exact, cheap, compact, and easily replaceable if lost.

The perfect solution!

The Mage Knight cups also work really well to turn the H-style bases from the golden age sets. Like the old rings, but so much better.

I realize I'm in the minority, but I miss the flight mechanic. It made the action more comic book acurate, and really why else are we playing? I just use the 2d objects and bystanders for action tokens. Simple and available.

I know a guy who uses LEGO people heads (with hats/hair) for action tokens.

Maps, I argue, aren't an "accessory"... they are a necessity! Kinda hard to play 'clix WITHOUT a map. ID rings, I can see as an accessory. Those Flight stands, certainly. Action tokens are similarly a "must" for the game.

I offer in place of "maps" & "action tokens" for this list: a "marker token", and 3-D map elements, such as trees or walls. By marker token, I am referring to a token of some sort to mark where that figure you just picked up was originally, after clicking it. (I use a small Necronomicon from an Ash ["Evil Dead"] action figure.)

I once used M & M's for action tokens..By the end of the game I was all out of tokens and had a bellyache

What about dice? ;) There is nothing better then a set of loaded dice to sway the outcome of a battle.

Me and my friends always use pop tabs for action token. Most figures have some part of them it can hang off of whether it be the arm or head.
