Review
Marvel studious has been steadily producing superhero summer blockbuster movies for several summers now. The latest is in the form of the star-spangled Avenger, Captain America. With a rich comic history spanning 70 years, there is plenty of source material for the film. However, with a character that is not as well known to general audiences as some of Marvels other superheroes, the film focuses on the Captain’s origin for most of the film.
The story begins in the present-day with a team of scientists discovering what appears to be an enormous flying wing that was buried in the frozen arctic. Inside they find the legendary shield of Captain America in a block of ice. Now the film flashes back to the early days of the Second World War. A village in Norway is under attack by the nefarious Johan Schmidt (played by Hugo Weaving) the leader of a Nazi splinter group Hydra, who obtains a fantastic new power source. We are then introduced to young & frail Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) who has been rejected for military service yet again. The effect used to make Chris Evans look so scrawny is amazingly seamless. It left no traces of CGI’s handiwork at all.
