Godzilla has always had more of a cult following in the States. Even the best of the classic Godzilla series looked well… cheesy. I assure you, nothing in this movie looks cheesy. When a monster emerges, the perspective is from the human viewpoint, creating a true sense of awe. You can almost feel the weight of the buildings as they topple over. As for big G himself; he looks pretty amazing. The CGI effects in Godzilla are arguably some of the best to date. From destructive rampages to battles with the military, it’s all here and it looks magnificent.

I’ve heard criticism about there not being enough Godzilla in the movie. I completely disagree. The story’s slow boil method made for a more satisfying payoff in the films climax. Giant monster movie may not be for everyone.  But I’d dare to say, even conventional audience should enjoy this movie. With alluring film making and imposing special effects, Godzilla delivers everything one could hope for in a big budget release.
