Our friends at ICV2.com have released the top collectible games in the fourth quarter of 2009. This is based on SALES, and guess what? HEROCLIX is the only miniatures game to make it into the top 5.
Top 5 Collectible Games Over-all -- Q4 2009
1. Pokemon TCG
2. Magic: The Gathering
3. Yu-Gih-Oh! TCG
4. World of Warcraft TCG
5. HeroClix
That's pretty damn impressive, especially since HeroClix wasn't even available for the year leading up to Q4 2009. The TCG (Trading Card Game) boys still take the top ranks (but I find it curious that Magic The Gathering isn't #1).
Regardless, this is highly impressive for HeroClix to be on the list. It's the #1 non-TCG!
Even more important is the list for the Hobby Games channels (that's your local gaming store rather than Wal-mart). In this list, HeroClix is #3 overall, and is still the #1 non-TCG on the list.
Top 10 Hobby Channel Collectible Games -- Q4 2009
1. Magic: The Gathering
2. Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
3. HeroClix
4. World of Warcraft TCG
5. Legend of the Five Rings
6. Pokemon
7. D&D Miniatures
8. Star Wars CMG
9. Monsterpocalypse
10. Naruto CCG
Wow! Look at that bottom four! What happened to D&D, Star Wars, and Monsterpocalypse?
Well, Star Wars is being dropped completely by Hasbro/WOTC this fall, so that explains that.... and D&D 4th edition has been sucking for a long time... but what what happened to Monsterpocalypse?
Regardless, HeroClix World would like to congratulate NECA for reaching the #1 for a non-TCG game... on their first try (congrats to the Wizkids staff too). This is definitely a sign of great things to come!
