I was ready to hate the superior spider man but I have to admit that I love it. Yes we all know peter will be back someday, (probably after Otto has destroyed the improved life peter had built for himself)but in the meantime the book is freaking hilarious and I have loved seeing the different ways otto handles peter's problems. My prediction otto will eventually fall flat on his pompous butt but what a ride to get there. Love it.

The reason I will not be reading Superior is the fact that this is not Spider-Man. I read Spider-Man for Peter Parker. I thought we had the new Scarlet-Spider to be the more violent Spider-Man. They may be good stories and a fresh approach, but this is not my Spider-Man.
Not mad at what happened, but not buying either and will be reading Spider-Man when Peter comes back

Sorry killing off superheroes to makes sales is a "so 90's" approach. If Marvel had any guts they would stay committed to "peter dead" and stick with Doc Ock as Spidey (something they shouldn't have done considering they've already rubbed Peter Parker out of the Ultimate Universe) but since as you've stated they set up the safety net for Peter's return this is just another sales gimmick (the kind that angers long time readers/buyers).

@Garrett: You can hate all your want. I hate Marvel for Brand New Day. I REFUSE to read any of the new spider-Man stuff -- nothing makes me angrier than the fact that over a decade of "Peter Parker Being Married" stories have been thrown down the toilet because of the retcon.

I cannot speak for the other fans complaining about this series but, I can speak for myself. I'm upset that Marvel never really committed to Pete being dead, reassuring readers that he's still "alive" in the very next issue. This just seemed like a safety-blanket in the event the book tanked completely. Western comics (as a whole) are too afraid of progression to be truly interesting. Also, the 700th issue of ASM was a waste of $8 when in comparison to issue 600. Sub-par art and side-stories, which is a shame for a supposed "final" issue. Whatever, I'm just "hating," right?
