Lone Wolf & Cub - Ogami Itto
Ogami Itto was once the Kaishakunin to the Shogun – he was in charge of chopping off people’s head after they committed seppuku. In a grab for power, Yagyu Retsudo framed Ogami Itto and got him fired and arrested. Rather than going quietly, Ogami fought his way out and struck a deal – after defeating Retsudo’s minion, Ogami fled the countryside and vowed never to step into Edo again. Of course, that didn’t stop him from becoming the most infamous assassin that Japan has ever seen.
Lone Wolf and Cub is one of the best comic books I have ever read. The condensed format can be a little hard on the eyes, but this is one story that has a true beginning, middle, and end. I urge all of you to pick this up.
Ogami Itto gets some pretty powerful abilities. Blades / Claws / Fangs thanks to his stash of weapons, Flurry since he can kill dozens of opponents at once (eat your heart out Crazy 88), Super Senses since he has eyes in the back of his head, and Exploit Weakness since his Dotanuki sword can cut through thick torsos.
