Clix Beat: Thanos (HeroClix Strategy)Thanos. The word trembles in fear, except maybe in HeroClix. Lets face it, the original Infinity Challenge Thanos was expensive and hasn’t held up well over time – but with the right TLC, he could still be viable in your Golden Age games.

Clix Beat is a series of articles that helps you play with certain HeroClix characters, and preferably win with them. Special shout out goes to Trey Guerrero.

Let’s get the first thing out of the way – he’s expensive. For 185 he’s more than half your team in 300 points, and almost half your team at 400 points… and no real powers except for damage reducers and Regeneration. Sure he doesn’t look like much in today’s power game, but he was quite a beast back in the day.

HeroClix World Thanos Dial

At 185 points though, he’s going to be tough to build a team around – he’s definitely going to be your tenpole / primary, so you need to protect him well. The first thing I recommend are some feats to keep this poor guy from getting hammered too hard. Remember, this is Golden Age, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t be using Feats – in fact, it’s a must for a figure like this. At least he has Flight...

We could just put a FULL Gauntlet on him and be comic accurate ...
This will solve a lot of issues with this fig.

I remember this guy. That 18 defense was a lot harder to hit back then. And outwit was not as common. Some outwit and perplex and this guy is toast.

Although, that 13 to 15 attack is devastating. Enhancement helps. Shield TA can help too. The Scorpio Key or a ring of the Manderin.
