Natalie Portman in ThorThe always stunning Natalie Portman plays the role of Jane Foster, scientist and object of Thor’s attention. Natalie actually lets her hair down in this one and isn’t afraid to be a combination of competent scientist and damsel in distress.

Let’s not forget the film’s villain played by another new comer Tom Hiddleston. Hiddleston gives an incredible performance that makes us both despise and feel for Loki.

@ silentpat

umm he didnt say it was a negative, he said its not entirley accurate. He also said the actor did a fine job. Wow, some people just have to be offended any chance they get.

Isn't it a bit pointless to review a movie that came out in May at this time? I know the DVD came out today but why not review the contents of the DVD instead of a sad recap of the plot of the movie? We know all that, what we don't know is what and what quality are the extras for this film on DVD.

Give us something new.

I have to disagree with this review for the most part.

Tom Huddleston as Loki was easily the best part of the film, both for the acting and the writing of the character.

The Asgardian intro to the movie was fine (although Thor's CGI fighting looked a bit too fast and silly) and the ending was acceptable.

What they got wrong was the middle. Where was the beef of this Asgardian sandwich? Thor is banished to Midgaard to learn humility, right? Well the film is so abridged that we have to expect that he learns humility over one marshmallowy campfire talk with Jane Foster! This is about as opposite from the Donald Blake punishment as you can get...

The only casting problem I had was Volstagg the Voluminous. They couldn't get somebody to look huge, cute, funny and badass at the same time?

Seriously? You're bringing up the casting of Idris Elba as a negative? I point you towards this article that appeared in December. (http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/12/16/racists-thor-idris-ebla-racism/) Enough, already! Who cares what colour his skin is? He was awesome!

Hogun has always been Asian. In the comics he's been portrayed as a Mongolian-like warrior.
