Gandalf The Wizard has always been the powerhouse of the Dungeons and Dragon universe. He starts off weak, but by the time he can cast 8th level spells he's making wishes and turning dragons into puppies. Magic has always been kind of broken in D&D, so balancing him in ClixCraves: D&D was a challenge.

HeroClix World: ClixCraves: Dungeons and Dragons

By far the Wizard has the most versatile dial -- giving him literally a little bit of everything. After all, he has a huge spell book to choose his spells from. Whether it's Penetrating/Psychic Blast, Energy Explosion, Pulse Wave, or even Telekinesis, the Wizard has it all -- but for HeroClix you want to take most advantage of his Memorized Spells special power. Having such an unpredictable dial is a blessing and a curse!

From wikipedia: Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, and first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). The game has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997.

Okay I posted that last comment before I got to the ranger, and I gotta say I liked the prior ones enough, but after seeing this I'm gonna stop reading. If you pick the RCE deal, on click one, without leveling up it can shoot with a 12 atk for 5 damage from 8 squares if you shoot a character with something you chose and +2 dmg from RCE. Then sit back with a 19 or 20 d at range. For 120 points. Then it only gets stronger. Really fast. Honestly how hard is it to KO 150 pts and max out at a 14 and 5 plus the healing (6 clix in 300 pts) and 11 clix of life, spec in larger games? Ridiculous. 120 points lmfao

I believe the Paladins Smite Evil trait, while cool, should have been worded like this:

At the beginning of the game and each time the Paladin gains a level, place a Smite token on his card. Give the Paladin a power action and remove a Smite token…to do what the trait does.

I feel that's easier to understand and more akin to how Wizkids would do it. Just my opinion though. I dig these very neat idea. Props

Fun ideas, and I agree this would be a great addition to Heroclix. You're on to something interesting with the "Experience Levels" Traits, but it just doesn't quite work. Perhaps individual characters with the Trait should gain a level when they KO a figure? Also, point values in general seem very low for so many clicks.

Love that I live in the birth state of D&D.

Energy explosion with 5 lightning bolts!!! Awesome!
Love the levelling up mechanic too.

Dials seem over powered but leveling up mechanic is a good idea, just needs tweeking so that they have less life. Also Alignments shouldn't be keywords as every character has them (such as Spider-man being Neutral Good).

@Cyanbloo Good call. I must have failed my Intelligence check...

For a moment, I thought i'd lost ten years off my life. Unfortunately scanning down the page I read "first published in 1974".
This surely makes it a 40th anniversary and not 30th as stated in the opening of your article.
Nevermind, i enjoyed reading it and your dials.

@Kannenxela: you are correct! that's what I get for writing at 5am! I have made fixes to the article! Thank you!

I know i'm being nit picky here, but from everything i know about D&D, Tiamat is a female. This may be just for 4.0 but it's just bothering me.
