Awesome Clix: Max Fury
Welcome to another edition of Awesome Clix, where we discuss Golden Age figures that are still viable in today's Modern Age. Today we discuss MAX FURY from the Marvel Chaos War set.

For 69 points, Max fury is a very interesting piece -- he has the ability, but also sports the S.H.I.E.L.D. keyword, making him workable in many teams (especially with figures from the Nick Fury Agent of Shield HeroClix set). He also gets a couple other keywords (robot, Shadow Council, Zodiac), but making a S.H.I.E.L.D. team will definitely give you the most bang for the buck.

Awesome Clix: Max Fury

While it may be tempting to take Max Fury into the front lines, keep in mind that he is ultimately a utility figure -- Stealth, 6 Range, Indomitable, and Outwit means you should move him into hindering terrain right away and just sit back and Outwit your opponents.  Combat Reflexes will bring his defense up to an 18 should someone come up close to try and hit him.

Of course, the best part about Max Fury is that trait that shuts down the opposing TA. Again, he's a great figure to play with all the new S.H.I.E.L.D. figures running around from the Nick Fury set. Oh, and note that the trait only effects opposing figures -- so if you're playing a S.H.I.E.L.D.team you'll be fine.

In a 300 point game Max Fury would work great on your team, especially if you can get some Shadow Council Soldiers in there  (unfortunately that would break the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, but would be pretty cool if you have more than one Soldier available).

Shadow Council Soldier HeroClix Dial

Max Fury is has a pretty simple yet effective dial. Even if he gets into trouble later, he can stay in the fight with Steal Energy and a bit of Ranged Combat Expert in the end to let him dish out 4 damage. There's a lot to like with this figure. In higher point games he can be even more effective since he's cheap and can just sit in backfield hosing that opposing TA.

If you need a little more movement, I recommend Double Time. If you want to be really ironic, team him up with Nick Fury Jr.

Congratulations Max Fury, you're this week's Awesome Clix!

Your Comments:
Always bugged me that Max hasn't got the Soldier keyword. Makes it really hard to build teams with him and his soldiers. Loved the Secret Avengers run with his storyline so Shield teams don't feel right for me. Nonetheless getting the Hydra TA into Shield is always a good thing and, coupled with Stealth and Outwit I'd say your suggestions are pretty spot on tactically The Le.
