JV "Goldeeh" Villarama has been playing HeroClix since 2003, and he's an avid modder. Between modding and... well... more modding, Goldeeh has built up quite a collection of custom HeroClix figures. Let's take a look...
The Le: How long have you played HeroClix? Any favorite figures?
Goldeeh: I don’t know about playing (since I’m more of a collector), but I first learned about HeroClix at the San Diego Comic Con. It was 2003, I believe, and I was walking around the main floor and stumbled upon the Wizkids booth. They had this huge 3D Map display, with the Colossal Sentinels and a bunch of small figures on dials. I was intrigued, but didn’t really give much thought about the figs after that.
A couple of months later, I was at Toys R Us, “looking for a gift for my nephew” (translation: buying Star Wars figures), and found a couple of boosters of DC Heroclix Hypertime. They were on clearance, and since they were cheap, I decided to purchase a couple.

As soon as I got in my car at the parking lot, I decided to open one. I remember the first figure I pulled out… a Flash figure with a blue ring on the dial. Needless to say, I opened up all the boosters I had in my car, went back into Toys R Us, and bought all the boosters I could find. Since then, I tried to collect each and every piece available, except for LEs and PRs (though I do have some), up until the Avengers set (wasn’t too happy with the quality of the figures). These days I’d buy a booster or two, but now I’ve mainly been buying singles online.
Regarding favorite figures, the Hypertime Experienced Flash is still one of my favorites since it was the first figure I ever pulled out of a booster. CT Nightcrawler (one of my favorite X-Men) that I pulled out of a booster, not knowing how valuable it was back then, is another. Since I love the Kingdom Come graphic novel, Unleashed KC Superman, to this day, is still one of my favorite figures (I think I have three of him). I was also fortunate to be able to purchase the original Galactus with the chrome Critical Mass Silver Surfer at the 2004 San Diego Comic Con (absolutely love those figures). When Legacy came out, I participated in a sealed pre-release tournament and played a team with a Ravager E in it. I won 2 out of 3 rounds because of her, so she still holds a special place in my heart.
