Superman Brave and the BoldPlaying Superman
Playing Superman is a matter of using his Hypersonic speed and high damage to its fullest potential. Position him so that he can move in with his great speed and hit. Using either his range or pick up a heavy object and move in close for even more serious damage. I like to go after stealthy targets making use of his range and Superman team ability. If he does take a hit its not the end of the world. Use his range and Heat Vision(RCE) to make your opponent wish he'd left Supes alone.

Combating Superman
As with all strong brick type characters, Outwit is a serious bane to them. If you can set up a strike and position an character with outwit before the strike, Superman will take the damage like an other mere mortal. Psychic blast is still my favorite way to take down a figure with damage reducing powers. Just move in and zap them for full damage. Perplex is also a good way of to deal with this version of Superman. Try taking his 9 attack down by one or 2 and see how he does.

Feats

The Fortitude feat would be gravy on this figure but with his well placed multiple clix of Hypersonic, it’s not a must. I would lean towards cheaper feats like Vendetta. It states: Choose a character. At the beginning of your first turn, choose an opposing character with a point value greater than this character. Modify the attack value of this character by +1 when it is making close or ranged combat attack against the chosen character. If this character defeats the chosen character, you score additional victory points equal to half the chosen character's point value. If the chosen character defeats this character, the chosen character's controller scores additional victory points equal to half this character's point value. This will help his attack value in case there is a figure you really want him to go ballistic on. At 6 points it’s a steal.

Large Object HeroClix featOr you could go with Large Object it states: When any character you control uses an object as a weapon, you may reduce the damage increase provided by the object, to a minimum of 1 damage. The character gets +1 to its attack value for that attack for each 1 damage reduced. It cost 3 points per 100 points of team build so try to keep it for 300 point games. For 3 points Alias is also a great option and goes great with this figures sculpt, Alias: Choose a character. (Optional) This character can use Shape Change, if it cannot already. After this Feat is used, remove it from the game.

Wrap Up

Personally speaking I prefer this version to the Justice League version any day of the week, and he’s 10 points cheaper than that one. Now the Vet from the Icons set is awesome, but where he starts to drop off the TB&TB version starts to pick up and he’s 35 points cheaper. At 216 he leaves some room for support character or feats that will improve his chances in the game.

Your Comments:
Nothing is good about struggling to hit a 17 DV for 216 points.

That is correct the review was written before the release of the set. These things happen. :)

"Keep in mind we have not seen what other figures will have the trinity keyword, I’m guessing it’s a safe bet that the Batman, and Wonder woman in this set are going to have Trinity as well."

Yes, Batman and Wonderwoman (and alter egos Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince) do have the Trinity keyword. How old is this review? Seems like it sat in someone's inbox a couple of months and didn't get corrected before being put online.

I have to agree with Nightwing-fan. Now personnally, I'm a Black Bolt and Batman fan myself, but, in my humble opinion, Supes should ALWAYS have at least a 10 AV or higher. I mean, come on, he is Superman! The mid-dial HSS plus good AV should help him out, though. He's not even close as good as the legendary KC Superman was, but he's not as bad as the Hypertime version. I would give him a 4 out of 5, only because of the late dial HSS.

Well, I haven't had conplete ill luck with this piece. Its not as good as some 'supes out there, but he has his uses. My brother uses 5 clark kents in a 300 pnt game, and it wupes @$$! Perplex up the gazoo leading to 'egoing' in 'supes...its a team that whups on me a lot :)

As far as 216 points goes he isnt bad and all his starting stats are pretty good except for his Attack Value. At a 9 or 10 at its best is a bad joke. Considering that a low defense is now a 17 on average, and that 18/19's is middle of the road. They made it so he has to roll an 9-12 to hit if the character is in hindering. Its just not going to happen all the time. Granted he doesnt have Bats or WW fighting skills up close, but he is Superman. A 10 should be his worst AV on the entire dial. Whoever decided to give him that low of a AV did not know what there doing. At worst he should have gotten an 11 AV to start with.

I prefer the 222 Icons Experienced over this version. It may only be 6 points more but he goes 10/12/18/5 to start with, and a 10 range with running shot.

As far as comic book accuracy goes, hes not. I've been reading Supes on & off since the late 60's when I was a little kid. He use to be able to go against the biggest, baddest villians and hold his own and come out on top. This version maked him out to be a joke.

The only good place for this version is on the sidelines and in my storage box. Unless you have 3 Con Artists to perplex up his attack every turn.

As far as Feats go, this Superman can use the new "Not So Special" feat for his whole dial. A nice bump of the attack value to a 10 for only 3 points against most Modern Age foes. Its probably a better value for the 3 points than Alias.
