Marvel ZombiesINTRODUCTION
It started with a flash in the sky, and a ripple through the clouds. The hunger is what brought it here; and feed it did, until the Marvel Heroes were no more. They were replaced by soulless monsters, driven only by an insatiable craving for human flesh. This is no world of Marvel Heroes. This is the world of MARVEL ZOMBIES...

PLAYERS
This HeroClix scneario can be played with 2-4 players. There is one ZOMBIE HORDE team. All others are HERO teams.
:For 2 players, the Hero team gets 1,000 points
:For 3 players, each Hero team gets 600 points
:For 4 players, each Hero team gets 500 points

FIGURE SELECTION
Figures should only come from the MARVEL universe (player's discretion).

ACTIONS
:For 2 players, 5 Actions per turn
:For 3 players, 4 Actions per turn
:For 4 players, 3 Actions per turn

CARDS
Feats/BFCs/Bystanders Not allowed. ATAs are allowed.

ZOMBIE HORDE TEAM
The ZOMBIE HORDE team has only 1 figure, Sentry (any version allowed). This figure must start in the middle of the map. This figure is a ZOMBIE -- it loses it's current keywords and gains one keyword: MONSTER. This figure is known as PATIENT ZERO (see below)

•At the beginning of the game, place a HUNGER TOKEN on the SO HUNGRY card.
•All zombies (including Patient Zero) is assigned the MARVEL ZOMBIES card.
•This team gets to go first.

Marvel Zombies HeroClix CardPATIENT ZERO
Patient Zero is also assigned the ZOMBIE SOURCE card.

•Optional:
HeroClix World scenarios are all about having fun. If you want to replace PATIENT ZERO with a different Marvel character or even DC character, then go ahead! We encourage it!

HERO TEAMS
Each hero team must place half of it's total figures (rounded up) within 4 squares of Sentry. All others are placed in the starting areas. Of the figures placed near Sentry, the closest must be the highest costing figure from each team.

ZOMBIE INFECTION
If a ZOMBIE successfully deals damage to a Hero, as a result of close combat attack, follow these steps after the action is resolved.
1) Place an INFECTED marker on the target's character's card (optional).
2) The target character cannot be given any actions on it's controller's next turn.
3) At the beginning of the next ZOMBIE HORDE turn, the target character becomes a ZOMBIE -- it loses it's current keywords and gains the MONSTER keyword; this character is now part of the ZOMBIE HORDE team and is assigned the MARVEL ZOMBIES card (see below).
4) Place a HUNGER token on the SO HUNGRY card (see below).

Marvel Zombies Cards HeroClix

OPTIONAL: ALTERNATING ZOMBIE PLAYER

At the beginning of Zombie Horde turn, the current Zombie Horde player should switch places with a different Hero player. This gives each player a chance to play with the Zombie Horde.

ZOMBIE HORDE TACTICS
The first turn is critical. You want to make a close combat attack on a powerful character in order to bring it to your team. However, you need to make sure you land a successful hit, so make sure the target defense isn't too high. You also need to make sure your teeth penetrate the skin, so you likely want to avoid Impervious characters for now since a good roll will reduce the damage to 0.

Edit: The So Hungry card has been modified to prevent impervious and mastermind effects from working.

Make good use of the SO HUNGRY card. You definitely want to use it on your very first turn, especially if you miss your first attack. You only get one extra token on that card per new ZOMBIE, so use it wisely. It should be used tactfully - it shouldn't always be used on your most powerful character.

Even though your ZOMBIE characters possess the Masters of Evil team ability, it doesn't mean they should use it every turn. You definitely need to use it to convert more Heroes early in the game, but be careful -- your characters cannot be healed.

HERO TEAM TACTICS
You're screwed.

Your first order of business is to take down Sentry if you can. When your character gets bitten, move your other ones out of the way as soon as possible. ZOMBIE characters "possess" Willpower and Charge, which means you can outwit those powers! But you can't do anything about their Masters of Evil team ability though.

Your saviors will be the half of your team that is in its starting areas. Hopefully they'll be good enough to survive the onslaught. Ranged attackers is definitely a good idea. Make no mistake about it -- the odds are against you.

HISTORICAL OUTCOME
Sentry infected the most powerful heroes at the scene first (Captain America). Caught completely off guard and unwilling to fight former teammates, the heroes fell one by one to the growing zombie threat. Tricked by a zombified Mystique (pretending to be Scarlet Witch), Quick Silver was bitten and turned; his super speed allowed him to spread the virus to other continents, spreading the infection world-wide. Within 24 hours the entire world's human population was consumed.

looks like fun, going to give this a try. Also thinking about taking a zombie from horrorclix, and glueing him to supermans base. Also what is the masters of evil team ability? still new to the game sorry

waaaaaay to complicated for casual play

The addition of the Zombie Source card made things VERY interesting. Patient Zero became a force to be reckoned with, and made my heroes pay for killing him off earlier. Thank you LE, for giving some undeath to our traditional Saturday night Clix matches.

I'll try this out with the guys tomorrow. Maybe the dice will decide to not hate Superman, and he may be able to land a blow.. or as it is, bite.

Hmmmm... this is the second time I've heard of the Zombies getting hammered. I have made another modification to this scenario, to beef up Patient Zero. See above.

Posted by: The Le on 3/25/2011 7:48:31 AM
Ouch.... This was brutal. Superman (Rare from JL) was pretty much ripped to shreds. His player for this match could not hit the borad side of a barn. Before too long Superman and the now zombie Aaron Stack were overwhelmed by Mystic Doom, Cable/Deadpool, and Aaron's NextWave allies. This time, the heroes one.

I'll be sure to let you know how it goes LE. Thank you very much...

@The Blue Hope: My scenarios are meant to be a template to spice up your HeroClix games and have fun. The keyword here is FUN...

So if you think you'd have fun using SUPERMAN as the primary zombie instead of SENTRY, then I fully approve! Give it a try, and post your results here!

Posted by: The Le on 3/24/2011 12:00:24 PM
I know this may be a little late, but how about allowing Superman to be the origin, as was originally intended. Marvel changed it to The Sentry to avoid reprecussions. Just an idea.

MSsch:you could do this game with the the real mavel zombies but at a lot lower point cost with spider-man or giant-man like they did in mavel zombies returns

Posted by: ikari on 2/7/2011 8:43:37 AM
Just wondering if you could make a feat card or BFC card that grants a team the key word "Black Lantern Corps",and some bystander token's for the black lantern's like lois lane earth 2 and so on, thank's.

Posted by: Nelson on 2/4/2011 6:34:49 PM
Ever run this with the actual SN or MM Marvel Zombies? That could be interesting... and comic-accurate.

Posted by: MEsch1974 on 1/26/2011 8:30:14 PM
lol guess i shouldn't have said anything. oh well thanks for acknowledging my cleverness.

Posted by: mr kitty on 10/19/2010 10:24:37 PM
@mr kitty: Thank you for pointing out the easy way around the Zombie Apocalypse. Very clever. As such, I've modified the SO HUNGRY card to prevent such things in the future. Thanks!

so we played this at my venue the other night. there were 5 of us. sentry couldn't handle us all. my team was sick though. SI Dr. Doom, Norman Osbourne, Bomastic Bag-man & 6 R moloids. Doom and 4 of the moloids were placed in the middle. Sentry had no use going after Doom since the dmg would just be dealt on to the moloid. Norman had 2 moloid's of his own to MM on to, and Bombastic Bag-man is, well... nobody wants a piece of him. btw, Norman was t-bolted to Mystics :)

Posted by: mr kitty on 10/16/2010 6:19:07 PM
Sweet! Would be kool to make alternate scuplts of a zombified version of each infected character with all those extra REVs and CURs lying around.

Another possible game twist for a three-player game is to have a zombie player, a Hero player and a Villain player, complicating matters as both heroes and villains need to stop the zombie plague but also have to be mindful of not letting the other side be the one with the last man standing. Probably not the best way to play it the first game, but something to consider for a second go at it. It could turn very nasty depending on which direction zombie Sentry decides to attack; the unmolested side may decide to withdraw and/or train fire on their opposite numbers, reckoning that a)they're busy with the immediate problem of the zombie attack and b) if they've already been knocked down a bit before being infected most of them will become weaker zombies.

Whichever scenario, on an indoor map Barrier-generating pieces could be critical.

Thanks again for posting the scenario and cards.

@Miraclo: My original draft gave zombies Steal Energy, but the more I thought about the more I realized that Marvel Zombies never "got better" when they ate people -- they simply retained their intelligence longer. If anything, they're more dangerous when they haven't eaten!

As for your question... YES, since it is a free action, someone who was just been carried CAN be given the "So Hungry" free charge action. Free is free!

(Definitely use it on Sentry immediately so that he can bite two heroes on the first turn!)

Posted by: The Le on 10/6/2010 9:47:52 AM
This is definitely the sort of direction it should have been handled from the start; Marvel Zombie clix such as we've seen are a dead end, being so limited. This always cried out for treatment as a scenario or even Event Dial, and a few of us have taken a shot at it.

I like what you did here, only questioning the (likely bold/balancing) move of not imbuing the zombies with Steal Energy. It's worth trying out this way, but part of me feels it's making the job easier for the heroes than should be the case.

Still, the Zombie Horde/token element is a cool twist. As it's a Free Action then, as one does with Outwit or Perplex, a friendly zombie could carry a teammate into a position in which he could Charge immediately after being carried, right?

Good work. If I can find the time I hope to get to play this.
