HeroClix TrekkieCritical Hit: Trekkies
In this business you should never underestimate the loyalties of Trekkies. The fact of the matter is that Trekkies are loyal, rabid, growing in number, and most important of all, they're willing to spend money on the franchise.

Critical Miss: Cost
The Star Trek License isn't cheap, especially if you're only focusing on starships. While Wizkids may be able to be able to get 60 DC licenses with bulk pricing, you won't be so lucky in the Star Trek (I'm not even sure there are 60 kinds of ships in the entire Star Trek unvierse). Even the Starter set has already been annouced with just 4 ships, compared to the 6 figures DC/MARVEL starters come with.

Don't get me wrong -- a 4 ship starter for under $15-$25 is still a great price when you consider that a single metal ship of the same size will cost $15 alone. I personally have no problems potentially paying a higher price tag when compared to superhero HeroClix.... but HeroClix players may not be able to see past the Superman Starter vs Star Trek Starter comparison, which will be too bad.

I simply enjoy collecting the figures, and star trek ships,my space is small and trying to collect full size models is just not going to work this way I can collect all i want and still play a table top game plus i can get into modding and create my own story,s to play!!!!

Hello nothing about the scale of the models. Having a Hulk that's bigger then the Fleet ship is bad enough. But Heroclix has usually kept close to the right scale within each universe example Sentinals in X-men. Its a major failure to have things like a Reliant the same size as a Klingon Flagship. That was one of the most disappointing things about the Micro machines sets. Now they just rehashed the same sculpts, how pathetic. If your going to make it compatible at least make the ships more powerful and just increase the point totals for a fleet game instead of putting in a bunch of low point garbage. Then only two Fleets to choose from... could they get any more lazy!?!

I've got some preordered, and I hope it's successful enough to get more expansions.

Now if they'd only let NECA make Star Wars: Tactics too...imagine the nerd-wars that would erupt at your local gaming venue!

I hope this game does do well. I have purchased the Star Trek Fleet Captain game which plays very well, pity it is not directly compatable with ST Tactics. The article states that there is no good Star Trek rules other than Star Fleet Battles (whoses new version makes it more playable), but there will be competition as Mongoose are producing a Star Trek Call to Arms rulebook in 2012. I will be getting both to add to my collection.

I could see a WarHammer40k Heroclix game 100% compatable I would see it as a smallscale skermish battle nothing close to the Epic scale of regular 40k the only problem I can see is how to convay the shear number's of units and Factions from Chaos/Space Marine Chapters,Ork Tribes,Eldar Aspects,Dark Eldar Kabals,Imp.Guard Companys,Tau Septs, to Necron Leagions, in the end I don't think it would be feasable oh well one can dream.

More Clix! Yay! Given that our beloved game has died once I can't be upset ever about more clix! I'm not planning on combining the two sets except for one deliberately silly game before I have enough Trek clix to play them on their own. Daft, but nice to have the option. As long as buying licences like they're going out of fashion doesn't bakrupt NECA and kill clix again I'm happy.
Besides I can now use spare Trek dials to mount Star Wars mini sculpts and play wars vs trek!!!! Nerdvana!!!

Star Trek Tactics - By Le -Continued-

Castle Ruins Map- Labeling it doom castle ruins map is rediculas. It is too small for a Doom Castle. It not even the size of a football field amd not enough indoor rooms. A keep size maybe but not a castle.

Still not liking the size issue with the ships. The ship that is bigger than the biggest aircraft carrier ever build and it akes up the same space as Superman. The only senerio I can see is that Star Trek invades or lands on a planet of supersized super heroes but that senerio gets old fast

Star Trek Tactics - By Le
Just not agreeing with the article.
Yes it's possible to screw up little starships, and Wizkids must be very careful not to upset the Trekkies, because they will withhold their dollars for a sub-par product.”
Gee. It is certainly nice to know that Wizkids is concerned with the “Trekkies” “because they will withhold their dollars” and are not concerned the least with fixing the issues they have on production of the Heroclix line or the current players $$$. It would be nice to at least have one set where they do not have an Errata that came with it. It would be nice to have a person that understands the difference between the words AND & OR {AND allows you to do everything in the sentence under the same action while OR means that you choose 1 power to use per turn.} as well of the use of a Comma in a sentence.
Wizkids is the only company that I know of that consistanly produces sub-par products and can not get the problem solved. I don’t even think that they have a quality control department in the company.
Sucking up to Seth Johnson; Yes lets look at some of the project that he was involved in:
Toys R Us Colossals – Only available in certain states. If you did not live in those 4-5 states You could only get them on the secondary market. The Sentinels in the whole X-men set lost the capture ability. Last time I checked Sentinels did not KO a Mutant and leave them there.
Anti-Monitor Action Pack – Great grunt piece of the Thunderer of Quard. To bad not many people can afford to my multipule Anti-monitors to get a second Thunderer. The Anti-monitor pulse wave that has to draw line of fire to the target when no other Pulse wave has the restriction. Thus he does not get played.
Marvel Mutations and Monsters- I believe this was the set that had a Pete Wisdom with the power of “Orange” on his character card.
Castle Ruins Map- Labeling it doom castle ruins map is rediculas. It is too small for a Doom Castle. It not even the size of a fo

Still too early regarding Star Wars. I heard Fantasy Flight is picking up Star Wars licenses and X-Wing game looks good.

I'm personally very much looking forward to this new spin on Heroclix. I do have three main hopes though...

1. That this is not a one-hit-wonder. (i.e. That there will be future expansions to the Heroclix Tactics brand down the road.)

2. Sort of an extension of my first point, I'm hoping that future Heroclix Tactics expansions come from more licenses than just Star Trek. I might be a Star Trek fan but I would absolutely love some ships from Stargate and other franchises.

3. I hope that sometime sooner rather than later we also get a 'non-Tactics' Star Trek Heroclix set. We could get Borg Drones, Klingon warriors, Starfleet Security Officers, etc. to add to our Heroclix battles.

Also, for those who use the "100% Heroclix compatibility" as an argument against this set, please remember that Wizkids has quite firmly established that the new Heroclix Tactics game is 100% compatible for the purpose of being to jump from one game to the other without learning new rules, not so that they can be played together. They have explicitly stated that the two games are not really meant to be played together, hence the lack of compatible scale and such.

I will buy some. I can't not at least get a starter and some extras. and force my kid to play probably. I did buy the entire Starship battles set too, just cause it looked cool, but never actually played it...oops.

Hope it's good
