How many of the 2012 Convention LEs do they make?

finally a Convention figure that sucks. It is nice to know that Heroclix finally made a convention figuare that I will not be bummed out that they do not release later to the public for those players that actually can not afford to take a weeks vacation to go gaming (AKA Parents that their spouce thinks a vacation includes the entire family not a 1 week escape from the family)

If Wizkids ever would get smart they would make the convention exclusives available for the general public perhaps a year or a year +next November - A Christmas present - Wink Wink- . People would still buy them and the convention goers would stil get a Year or more to play them before everyone else.

Posted by: Sirchristopher on 7/15/2012 10:05:10 PM
I tend to agree about not likeing that this is a convention exclusive. I just hope it does become avaible to the general public later for thse that cant make it to the conventions.

as to the figure itself, its very nice for the point cost, and it the new duo split ability allows you to use any 2 figures that qualify then i would suggest AN050 Superman for 120 points and the remaining 150 from either SM001R Superman or FFSM001R Superman (either one as the Rookie level)

Posted by: Grim on 6/16/2012 5:12:57 PM
Ok this really takes the cake Wizkids. I hope as a company they have enough sense to make sure all these con-exclusives becomes available as B&M prize support later this year. Otherwise you WILL HAVE A LOT OF ANGRY CUSTOMERS!!!!

On to the Superman & Superman dial. Damn this figure is great for it's points! The traits & Special Powers makes it extremely .playable.

i love punisher so im really wanting to go to gencon and i might but i wanted stan lee but comic con is sold out:(

Posted by: alex on 6/13/2012 4:27:37 PM
yet another awesome piece i cant get

Posted by: mario on 6/13/2012 3:42:51 PM
I really like this duo Superman, but wish they weren't convention exclusives. I just hope come next year when their con ex pieces are released I can afford to get this years DC cons.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 6/13/2012 1:26:06 PM
@ Ste - Don't feel too bad my friend, those of us here in the USA feel just as miffed as you do. Tou say that no one outside America can get there hands on them, actually that should be no one outside of the cities with cons. It's just as improbable that I could get one where I live as it is for you fine folks over seas & I live in the midwest of the states. The ONLY way I can get a hold of them is same as you. 1. spend thousands of dollars to travel to a con (no I don't think so) or 2. spend WAY too much much to get them off of eBay. Too many convention pieces in my opinion!

Posted by: Davyd on 6/13/2012 1:20:08 PM
right im getting a bit miffed now!
all these con exclusives coming out that no one outside of america can get their hands on and pretty soon brick figures and participation prizes are gonna be one and the same figure!

so i go to my local store here in the UK buy a brick get my brick fig and leave happy... the following week i take part in a sealed event and get the same fig again for taking part!
meanwhile the kid across the pond takes part in the same sealed and goes to a few conventions and ends the year with 8 extra figs(and counting) that will never even see the light of day over here!
way to go neca/wizkids! you let your international customer base know just how valuble they are to you!

TELL ME IM WRONG... PLEASE!!!

@Kragnorak

I think it works when Venom is the only remaining member of your team as well as a single OMA team build. The chase Kal from the Superman set has the same special power I think.

From Superman #58 Kal:

There's No One Else Who Can End This: If Kal is the only character on your force, modify his combat values by +1.

Posted by: phep on 6/6/2012 11:38:24 PM
"I Work Best Solo"

Um, does that mean you should take him in as a single 159 point team, or does this kick in if you get his teammates killed?

Posted by: Kragnorak on 6/6/2012 9:10:57 PM
Aww...NUTS!!! Venom is another con-exclusive.

Ok now I'm sad again. :(

Posted by: phep on 6/6/2012 9:03:23 PM
Whoa! The new Venom can out punish the Punisher! I like it. Sharpshooter, Shield TA, Shape Change & Stealth as a trait, decent Attack & Damage values thoughout his dial, and late dial regeneration at the end makes this guy a winner in my book!

Posted by: phep on 6/6/2012 9:02:20 PM
To those who asked: It appears that the Giant-Man collosal has a dual dial, one of which is exchangable for the other 75 point Hank Pyms. I think is has a special size trait that makes it giant, not collosal.

Posted by: Benjamin on 6/6/2012 7:01:12 PM
To me it looks like that giant ant man MIGHT have a dial point value of 194... however, i have crappy eyes LOL so i could be wrong :P

Posted by: sparkdemon on 5/22/2012 9:58:37 PM
JLDark, there's no need for flaming on this forum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't necessarily have the same problem with continuity that FanofSteel is talking about but he has a right to say it.

Posted by: The Dark Knight on 5/22/2012 4:23:55 AM
I'm looking forward to the Giant/Ant Man pair coming out. I'm also very surprised that Wizkids/Neca wised up to finally sell us a convention piece. The only thing that looks to bug me by looking at the pictures is he's leaning over. Is he going to be stable or like the old Secret Invasion Thing who has balance issues and would always fall over? I know I won't be happy if he keeps falling over and breaking.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 5/21/2012 10:03:02 AM
I've wanted a full scale giant man FOREVER! I wont be able to make Comic Con but I have my fingers crossed for Wonder Con in San Francisco. Looking forward to following the updates on this figure

Posted by: ProfessorDiablo on 5/19/2012 9:19:02 AM
Thank God Wizkids had the sense to SELL the Giant Man/Ant Man combo pack at the conventions instead of having to win it in a grinder. It's maddening to think how hard it is to get the con-exclusives by the general public (especially since they are by and large very good heroclix figures or at least very popular ones) but at least the availability for this particular one will be easier to obtain compared to the other 4.

Another thing is that I hope there will be more lead up this time if there is another convention style OP kit because the Supremecy League one that they had last year from what I'm told was a spur of the moment thing wizkids put together at the last minute with a short notice annuouncement (2 weeks) so only a few B&M retailers were actually able to put any orders in for it leaving the rest of us in the cold.

Posted by: phep on 5/18/2012 7:07:02 PM
@Fanofsteel Martian Manhunter is a con-exclusive and is not part of New 52 set. Since Heroclix is a toyline, it can choose whether to release New 52 stuff or not. It is not controlled by DC. And please stop spamming about the New 52's continuity it's already everywhere. Why not post comments like that on comic reviews/forums/thread. Fanofsteel! Get your act together!

Posted by: JLDark9 on 5/18/2012 6:19:49 PM
My convention exclusive depression continues.... :-(

It's a very interesting dial. I like the layered defensive powers he got on clicks 1, 3, & 7 (Stealth, Shape Change, then a damage reduction power). He'll be tough to take out. Damage output is a bit iffy on his HSS clicks but as long as there are object tokens to be used he can still bring the pain (definitely would want to use Rip It Up feat cards in Golden Age games for this figure).

Posted by: phep on 5/16/2012 7:41:28 PM
I thought it was strange when DC "rebooted" under the New 52 banner but said that some of the past continuity still was in effect but some of it wasn't, with no clear distinction as to what was what. Even those who are not huge continuity buffs have found it hard to figure out which storylines still matter and which don't. I tried some of the rebooted titles but this confusion was a big reason I only collect a few DC series now.

And they're making it even more confusing by releasing Heroclix figures in boxes branded "The New 52" but featuring pre-New-52 characteristics and histories. Because Martian Manhunter's card references his JLA affiliation and not Stormwatch (as he is in The New 52), this appears to be one of those.

C'mon, DC! Get your act together! Anyone else agree with me?

Posted by: Fanofsteel on 5/16/2012 3:03:19 PM
@David Riches I don't display the full cards here, but you are correct. On the official HeroClix website, the card is incorrect.

Posted by: The Le on 5/16/2012 10:05:54 AM
Is it me or does his card say Martian Manhunter has Super Strength as a Defense? I personally would have added 10 points and made him indomitable.

Posted by: David Riches on 5/16/2012 10:00:49 AM
Thanks phep!

Posted by: MantisWarrior on 5/11/2012 7:51:55 AM
@ Mantis Warrior this version of Punisher is right after civil war and the death of Captain America storylines. He "assumed the mantle" (this version) to fight Hatemonger II who was killing illegal immigrants in his own version of Captain America's costume.

Posted by: phep on 5/10/2012 6:48:12 PM
I don't recognise this Punisher outfit at all. He looks like a cross between the Frank Castle Punisher i know and Bucky-cap! Can anyone explain this guy to me?
Nice ranged attacker who would enable a great ranged 'castle' tactic (pun possibly intended depending on the answer to my previous question!)with stealthed rangers clustered round this guy. Not sure why he gets invul, seems a bit steep for a guy in kevlar. Nice shooty effect though!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 5/10/2012 8:54:14 AM
Doh!!! Another Con Exclusive I want but will have a hell of a hard time to get! Why Wizkids WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

Ok, rant over. The figure has an interesting mix of powers. The Special Power Infared Goggles combos well with the Sharpshooter combat ability essentially giving the figure trickshot. His front loaded 3 damage + RCE can seriously damage Tentpole figures & his trait insures that you can push other attackers without them having to take push damage as long KO the figure they are attacking and are within 5 squares, under 200 pts.,& has LOF to the Punisher.

Pretty good despite him being slightly north of 100 pts. & having only 6 clicks of life.

Posted by: phep on 5/9/2012 8:59:24 PM
As I said on WK Twitter, "and impossible to get outside the US". Otherwise, isn't better than actual punishers, but it's funny to play. The fig is cool, if the final model looks like the 3D...

Posted by: Guille on 5/9/2012 10:35:29 AM
I will never own this figure. Based in the UK I don't think we even have conventions. However it doesn't really matter. I suppose there are two types of clix collector those who have to have EVERY FIGURE and those who don't. If you want to be completist then you have to have lots of money. If you don't you can't be completist about anything clix or otherwise. I don't have lots of money so i'm not completist. I'm not complaining it's just a fact. For me LE figures, chase figures, prize support and convention exclusives are figures i do not want. If i get all the commons in a set and my few favourite heroes i consider that set complete. The fast forces packs are great for this, all i needed from Galactic guardians was a silver surfer. One FF pack later and mission accomplished! Anything i pull from boosters now is pure profit!
Oh and back to topic: nice doctor fate sculpt and dial- 18 def with ESD and JSA! Fun!

Posted by: MantisWarrior on 4/29/2012 10:26:07 AM
Only 5 clix of life????? So, i like the jsa teams, but now i need another good shooter with a long range.... Maybe with running shot

Posted by: Omoud on 4/28/2012 9:00:37 AM
I'm soooo glad they made another Dr.fate and this one i really like.

Posted by: Green scar89 on 4/28/2012 3:42:59 AM
My favorite. Why the f! did they make him con-exclusive. (greater than):(

Posted by: IP on 4/28/2012 1:11:25 AM
Sigh... Want the figure... can't go to the conventions to get the figure... will probably have to pay an arm & leg to get the figure...

Dang plasti-crack addiction!!! :)

For a lord of Order he seems to be a little lite in the Life department (5 clicks) and damage(3 at most). Still with Mystics and JSA he's going to be a potential nightmare to deal with.

Posted by: phep on 4/27/2012 7:28:27 PM
This Dr. Fate is probably the last JSA piece we'll see for some time...

Posted by: Wombatboy on 4/27/2012 5:32:25 PM
Awesome piece! Annoying about the con exclusive thing. But don't forget, folks, they are making the CEs available as in-store prize support.

Posted by: Preacher13 on 4/27/2012 3:58:41 PM
hmm it reminds me the wizzard shazam!

Posted by: Galord on 4/27/2012 2:50:41 PM
Awesome! Freaking love it

Posted by: Mario on 4/27/2012 12:01:11 PM
Finally! A Doctor Fate worthy of the name! Awesome Nerfing Trait plus Mystics & JSA Team Abilities! I so MUST have one of these!

Posted by: The Dark Knight on 4/27/2012 11:55:35 AM
What an awesome sculpt! I hope they use this sculpt in another set b/c I won't be getting to any conventions and won't pay lots of $ to buy him on Ebay. I am still waiting to get the Wonderwoman for cheap.
His Trait is CrAzY good. I would go right for this piece if I saw him across the board. Send in a lower point figure with Charge and Superstrength and KO him in on shot. 5 clicks shouln't be too hard do.
Make sure you outwit that Prob Control though.

Posted by: Top10 on 4/27/2012 11:09:45 AM
I officially hate tracking down convention exclusives. I cant get to one and now that make one I will want more then anything else. I love the fact we are going to get a new Dr. Fate. But why much he be a CE? He is one I will have to track down and get even if it takes me a few years to afford him.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 4/27/2012 9:43:27 AM
Sir Christopher---agreed. Or maybe the Con Exclusive's have a better dial than a Fast Forces set duplicate that would be coming a few months later with other redone figures.

However, as it is, WhizKids is creating a system that allows the fans to be extorted into paying outrageous prices at the benefit of greedy private players, not the company itself. They are manipulating supply and demand principles and it only helps ebay savvy traders, not the players themselves that want to bring these pieces to a local game. It's absurd overall.

Posted by: ChronoFett on 4/24/2012 7:40:47 AM
I understand the concept of convention only pieces. I just don't like it. Not all of us can take a week off to go play games. I wish Wizkids would make these con exclusive pieces available a year later to the public with the same dial maybe just a grey base rather than black. I know alot of players would purchase these if they were available on-line. even if they had to wait for a month to get them.

Posted by: Sir Christopher on 4/23/2012 12:51:00 PM
How do you even get these when you go to a convension? Is there a guy selling them, are they prizes, do you just get one for going? Have always wondered.

Posted by: Japete61 on 4/20/2012 8:14:42 AM
what convention will he be at?

Posted by: mario on 4/20/2012 7:40:05 AM
gsx fast forces should be this sculpt plus archangel (renamed death) and the sculpts of last year's convention exclusive war, famine and pestilence figs.

the 6th would prolly have to be horseman wolverine for mass market appeal

Posted by: baron impossible on 4/20/2012 5:32:49 AM
Sucks that the guys who live nowhere near the convention spots and can't afford to travel that far to go to them have to lose out. Just like with the horseman. Those things are still high priced even if you try to buy them. This one will be the same.

Posted by: Viking19 on 4/19/2012 6:53:59 PM
Yessss ChronoFett and Nightwing-fan. Let the hate flooowwwww.....

Posted by: Dark Lord of the Sith on 4/19/2012 1:36:42 PM
Well, BOOOOOO! Who cares. I can't make it to the convention and I won't pay $100+ dollars for a single figure when the people who get it go straight to ebay. This figure looks awesome, but most of us will probably never get 100 feet from the thing.

Posted by: ChronoFett on 4/19/2012 1:14:54 PM
Just great, this sucks! While he is a decent looking figure, I really wish they would just go back to giving them out with a $$$ purchase like they use to at all of the conventions. It would make it easier to get him.

But he will be another figure in the $50 to $200 price range that I will try to get since I cant make it to either convention.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 4/19/2012 12:20:24 PM
I like it! Uses an AE mechanic to become a Colossal Apoc, cool! The trait is good, as we, removing the limitiation from the best 1-pt ever used (sorry, Lian Harper!) HoA ATA!!

Posted by: Hodak on 4/19/2012 11:54:04 AM
