Combat Values

As far as his combat values go, Spidey is no slouch on the battlefield. His speed values are nice and consistent mix of 9’s and 8’s. His attack values are well, amazing. Starting with an 11 attack, and never lower than a 9. His defense values are finally where they need to be, an 18 to start that drops to a 17 for most of the dial and finally a single 16 on his last clix. Mr. Parker can also dish out some solid damage. A 3 damage value shows on most of the dial, with a single 2 on his final clix. Unfortunately his range value is 0, but he has a special power that helps make up for this, more on that later.

Powers and abilities
Ok so what powers can supplement those solid combat values. First off Spidey has a full dial of Leap/climb. So he can get in and out of combat with ease. Next he has Super Strength sprinkled in on his 1st, 4th and 5th clix. Not a whole lot of standard powers but that takes us to our next section-special powers and traits.

Special Powers and Traits

This version of the wondrous web head has a special power called Web Shooters. Now if I understand this correctly, the character stays in the web space until they break away. This may not be effective on characters that have powers like Phasing or Leap/Climb, but for figures that don’t; this has potential to be a pain in the buttocks. It should be interesting to see how it works out in an actual game.

This version of Spidey also has a trait called Spidey Sense. This allows him to use Super senses on a roll of 4-6. Now what makes this so cool is the word “use” (see Use and Possess). This verbiage means that his Spidey Sense ability cannot be the subject of an opposing characters Outwit. So Spidey can take comfort that his Spidey Sense will be in effect almost always. (I say almost always, because we still don’t know if the new Venom or feats will have a way around this).

Yes up to 2 spaces and you break away for free.

I guess I don't understand Lunge does it let you move and attack if you don't have it normally?

Aside from that amazing Super-Duper-Senses ability i think i prefer the Black suit, longer dial that seems more combat effective, not to mention the sculpt is a lot better.
would have prefered the red part of the costume to just have been painted on rather than an extra layer of modelling putty, it just looks a bit iffy IMO.
Dial is pretty decent but i do prefer incap to web shooters, although i do agree that the web shooters ability seems more comic accurate

Feats are out in the modern age format not in the golde age format :) It all depends on the game. We just got a bunch of feats from brave and the bold.

So just so everyone is clear, there is mention of "feats" at the end of the article, and with the release of WoS, feats other than ATA are outy 5000

I personally like the Secret Invasion Spider-man a bit better, because he is cheaper. At 50 points, he can do a lot of damage, and he still has a decent defense of 17w/Super Senses. Though I must admit, this version is growing on me. The ability to avoid damage %50 of the time is VERY good, and his web shooters make perfect sense. AND it's a trait. A double whammy. This Spidey's gonna cause a lot of trouble real soon. I would rate this version of him a 4.5 out of 5.

sweet so my superman can merc him

@MikeInferno: They only have to roll break-away if they MOVE. They can make attacks without moving if they want. It's too bad Web doesn't stop Hypersonic Speed characters.

wait let me make sure i understand web terrain marker. does the character you use web shooter on have to break away to take any action or just to move?

Posted by: MikeInferno on 8/2/2010 8:20:53 PM
Spudeus -- You can see his dial, he doesn't have any defensive powers at all.

I love the Spidey Senses on this figure, I roll a lot of 4s when trying to roll Super Senses... but of course, all this will guarantee is that I'll rolls 3s now... LOL. I think the Web Shooter power is an excellent way to represent Spidey's webbing -- it doesn't always cause damage (especially not knock-down-a-wall, hurty-Superman damage), but it does interdict his opponent... it's like Incap-lite with no To Hit roll!

Since I started playing Clix, I've thought Spidey should have 'super' super senses. . . finally! To be truly comic accurate, he also needs energy shield/deflect. Do we know what's on the back of his card?!

Good info...Thanks!

You don't have to worry about Spidey Senses being outwitted. It's a trait and traits can't be outwitted.

I really like this figure (and the black costumed one too). I can't wait to play him. I don't understand why so many people are stuck on the fact that he doesn't have range. It's an amazing piece.

I concur. This Spidey feels like the real deal.
