Thor Dark World Movie ReviewIn Thor: The Dark World, Thor confronts an enemy powerful enough to destroy all of the nine realms. To battle this evil he will reunite with Jane Foster and risk the ultimate sacrifice to save us all.

With the Bifrost destroyed in 2011’s Thor, and Loki’s invasion of the Earth in 2012’s the Avengers, the nine realms are quite a mess. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his Asgardian allies have spent the last two restoring order across the realms.

Meanwhile astrophysicist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) unknowingly releases a dangerous element called the Ather. Her discovery awakens Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), an ancient evil that dates back to Thor’s Grandfather’s time. When the all-seeing Heimdall (Idris Elba) alerts Thor to Jane’s predicament, Thor returns to Earth and brings her to Asgard where he feels he can best protect her. This set the rest of the movie into motion as Malekith and his army of Dark Elves relentlessly pursues the Ather; hell-bent on casting the nine realms into eternal darkness.

I guess you skipped that whole middle where Thor, was bested by mere mortals in the hospital, couldn't lift the hammer, oh and sacrificed himself for the town people. Campfire indeed. pft.

Thor:dark world. It made me smile in a good way.
Action, humour, in color, sound, 3D, I-MAX what was there not to like.
Loki & Thor a great double act. Escapism at it's best.

I disagree with the average rating which I would reserve for the first movie. Thor 1 had a beginning and an end but no middle whatsoever. Remember how he was exiled to Midgard to learn humility which he did in one campfire session with Jane? There wasn't even a montage to make it seem like he had experiences.

Cut to the new movie and there was much more going on and it didn't feel so much like chunky transitions between middle acts. I felt this was a much better Star Wars than the recent Star Wars flicks and visually it was a good use of the bigger budget that they had. This movie was good fodder for HeroClix scenarios as well what with the dimension-hopping ideas.

Im 3 comes up because it had more holes than Swiss cheesey.

Thor 2 was better, but still had it's issues. Here is hoping Cap 2 doesn't disappoint.

Awesome movie. as good as the first. It felt balanced for the most part. Not sure why Ironman 3 is coming up, but also awesome.

Thor is one of the few franchises where lack of depth is really a good thing. Malekith didn't need depth, he just needed to be a threat. The movie treated the threat light heartedly because it was absurd. The movie was very self aware even the parts where the science is being explained it is interrupted by something ridiculous. Thor does a very good job of knowing it is only a part of a whole this movie was simply set up for more movie universe building and it does a great job of being that superficially entertaining.

Not quite as good as the first one, but still a good movie overall.

After how bad Ironman 3 was I was worried movie studios lost there grove but Thor dark world showed me they are still going strong. And Cap. America Winter Soldier looks like it wil be good but only time will tell.

I must be easily entertained because I thought this movie was good. I definitely think it was a lot better than the Iron Man 3! And speaking of off putting comedy, Iron Man 3 was loaded with terrible comedy drops. Anyways, I like this movie as much as the first.
