12-20-2010. The official Free Comic Book Day website is saying that the 2011 HeroClix Freebie will be a Green Lantern of some sort (i.e. Hal Jordan). Not only that, they've got a picture up! (note that we haven't heard anything official from WK, but the FCBD website is official enough in our eyes!). Special Thanks to Matt J. for pointing this out!

Free Comic Book Day arrives May 7th, 2011.

I really like this piece. Up front sniping and Boot troop movement and hard to hit at range. When he takes a good 3 to 5 damage smack (hopefully in Close) he can either run away to reposition or sit there and slug it out with Blades (also Toughness for potential Poison basing is nice). Tail end looks like he's limping around being a nuisance from range. For 137 points, he is very usable. Great playability and not impossible to take out. Looks like a nice balance.

1) the sculpt of this peice is kind of horrible (but i prefer this over the "waiting for the bus" pose)

2) STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DIAL! this is a 140 point, indomitable, 20 defense character while sitting in hindering terrain. he has the Justice League of America keyword, set him next to a batman, wonder woman, or SOMETHING to protect him up close.

HE IS MADE TO BE A SNIPER. for 140 points he can sit at 20 defense, ten attack, and four damage (with perplex), not to mention his 14 square hit radius, you honestly would be an idiot to think this dial sucks.

yes, the mid dial blades claws fangs and plasticity are disgusting (i never was one that like toughness: doesnt stop the hit, and too low of a damage reducer to be helpful), but think about how powerful this would be in a Justice League of America team, with his *i can carry 8 people* his *20 defense from afar, indomitable, and perplex* and his ****RUNNING SHOT FOR FOURTEEN SQUARES****

Look at other green lanterns, this one is the second least expensive (of any kind of recent sets to my knowledge), after guy gardner, and if im correct tied with another guy gardner (dc 75 is 110 points, the Guy gardner with charge and flurry is 137 i think)

honestly, you cant debate this is a PERFECT character for a justice league of america team, a nice low(er) point hal jordan, that can taxi all of your figs, with indomniable and perplex.

Posted by: Sparkdemon on 5/3/2011 5:06:56 AM
ok heres the team im going to use with him im going to useworld war hulk grey hulk wolverine rookie superman rare flash unique uncommon and free comic bok day rookie hulk and lockjaw

Posted by: calvin on 5/3/2011 4:49:07 AM
wow at first that sculpt is very nice i absulutely love the i dea of that sculpt second the dial is amazing a bit less point value would be nice and its a super rare and it comes absulutely free with the comic and its dc 75th witch is pretty new

Posted by: calvin on 5/3/2011 4:44:33 AM
Looks nice. I can't wait to let Wolverine base him, and rip him shreads. Go ahead and use him. I'll put him to bed just like my kids!!! Dial SUCKS!
With this clix you need to hit hard, and FAST. Cause if not you won't be around for long and the game is over! Thanks W.K.now I can replace my broken one with this one... Is this the new replacement program???? I still need a Bagman with the correct Dial!!!Please!!!
Hof OUT

Posted by: Hof on 5/3/2011 3:13:18 AM
I like it. B/C/F is a nice touch. He seems like a nice troop-transporter incarnation of Hal. I have to agree with the comment about new & different GLs, though. Also: cheaper GLs would be nice, so a Corps team could be a feasible option. We need Boodikka, Salaak, and F-Sharp Bell. 8)

Posted by: dittobeetle on 5/2/2011 9:26:36 PM
OH. MY. GOD.
LOVE IT.
WANT IT.
NEED IT.
NOUGH SAID.

Posted by: The Yellow Fear on 4/27/2011 2:21:06 PM
Kilowog would have been my pick. But I love me some GL so im not complaining.

Posted by: Undeadpool on 1/13/2011 9:15:26 AM
Great... they use the worst mold they've done of him so far? And I think we've been Hal'd out lately... why not push Bruce? who cares that we've got the GL movie, they're forcing GL down our throats at this point, the way it feels... Give us somethin worth its salt... Make it a redo of Scar or Ganthet, and name it Krona, for pete sake! I mean, geeze....

Posted by: VicSaber on 1/7/2011 9:24:08 PM
I would like to see DC use more but different lanterns that we have not seen in clix form, but have been in comics, over the years.and take a chance and bring in some really old school stuff they own the rights to like ULTRA, more swamp thing and the characters from VERTIGO I know they have to gowith popular trend, but as a collector different is great.

Posted by: gary on 1/7/2011 3:33:48 PM
I don't mind them using other figures. This keeps the cost down for the boosters. If they made new figures all the time, the prices would go way up. I am all for a new Green Lantern figure....I wish it was Gnort.

Posted by: Brendan on 1/5/2011 10:09:13 AM
upset the least they could do is make another fig of green lantern but they just really gotta do a rep. of the gr. arrow/gr. lantern piece from brave and the bold.. although i do like green lantern

Posted by: y_so_serious? on 1/4/2011 2:14:39 PM
(less than)(less than) How does one go about getting one of these?
Posted by: Zach on 12/25/2010 4:56:00 PM (greater than)(greater than)

Your Local Comic Store (LCS) will probably purchase a bag or so of these to use as promotional items on Free Comic Book Day, in 2011 it is May 7. Some LCS' may sell the figs for a $1 or so, or may give them away with a purchase.

@Jace
Welcome to the club, pal...

Posted by: Owlman166 on 12/26/2010 9:25:48 AM
I'm quite disappointed on the fact of A NOTHER GREEN LANTERN.......ALL THE BAD ASS dc characters and they produce this...dc is SERIOUSLY pushing the green lantern movie way to much....there is so many lanterns in dc 75 and this one on top of it....don't get me wrong, I like the greens and will be getting this fig when it hits comic stores. I just feel they could have came out with a bad a** "death" fig or "Catwoman"..some different fig...

Posted by: Jace on 12/26/2010 6:26:13 AM
How does one go about getting one of these?

Posted by: Zach on 12/25/2010 4:56:00 PM
At least we'll know that there will be new stats AND the figure is now alone instead of part of a duo. So he's still kinda new.

Posted by: Lord Logan on 12/24/2010 8:57:59 AM
well this IS just the free comic book day fig and we all know that the fig for free comic book day is based off a newly coming out movie which in this case is the green lantern, honestly I'm OK with this I honestly see no need cry over it, yes the last blackest night had a Hal and so did brave and the bold did too not to mention dc 75th has 2 more but its just a game or better yet a hobby so really id say just get over it :P

Posted by: bonez on 12/23/2010 10:23:49 AM
Again.....the whole LANTERN CORPS to choose from....and yet we go straight to Hal Jordan, not to mention it's the same scuplt from the Green Lantern & Green Arrow Duo. My only hope is that this will be the best version of Hal thats playable for the points....I hope.

Posted by: hairylegoflamb on 12/22/2010 11:03:26 PM
ok I like the Lanturns in 75th,but Im with the majority here !Not another Hal!Wheres my Bwana Beast,My Doug Ramsey,or even Squirll Girl

Posted by: Black Panther on 12/22/2010 2:18:13 PM
@sparks4289
wow, you think Thor is lame? uhh... the last couple Thor's' have been really, really good. Thor (especially Ultimates Thor) could take on ANY version of Hal Jordan, ANY day of the year. He's not my fav hero, by any means, but Thor kicks more butt than GL ever will, IMO. 'Nuff said... However, I will consent that we definitely needed a new John Stewart. The Cosmic Justice version royally sucked.

Posted by: Owlman166 on 12/21/2010 10:19:46 PM
Of course it's hal jordan green lantern, with the movie coming out who else would it have been? I'm just glad to see it wasn't another lame thor or captain america. WTG Neca!!

Posted by: sparks4289 on 12/21/2010 8:39:25 PM
After some thought instead of a new Hal maybe one of the other characters we saw in the trailer may have been a better choice... Anyone else dying for a new Kilowog? Or even better a Green Lantern Corps version of Sinestro! Give us the greatest GL before his fall from grace.

Posted by: Jowzam on 12/21/2010 4:59:31 PM
Yay its another "Not another Hal Jordan post" coz yes its another Hal Jordan!!! man this guys been done moree times than iron man, bat man and spiderman combined over the last few sets... he's taken to appearing at least twice in each of the last few sets and again at every other availible chance. Now i was expecting this as a FCBD; seeing as his movies out soon but i think people would have been a lot happier if the white lantern version in 75th was just a repaint of the blakest night version and the green lantern version in 75th wasnt made... i mean he's appeared 6 times in the last 2 sets... over kill!!!!

Posted by: Ste on 12/21/2010 4:42:11 PM
@bgreyloc
I still say we did NOT need yet another GL Hal Jordan. All the Lanterns crowded out other characters who should have had a chance. I understand the need for a few new Lanterns (Like Atrocitus, Larfleeze, and Sinestro.) Those I can agree with. But did we really need 4 Flashes, 3 Supermans, 7 GL versions (Including Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, etc...) And another Ganthet?! I don't think so. How about redoing some older figures next time, like Ultraman, Owlman, Lex Luthor, Shade, etc... OK, NECA?

Posted by: Owlman166 on 12/21/2010 1:57:52 PM
This set is awesome. Yes, the character selection is not very big, but we got some great dials, and some long over due characters. The lanterns are cool, and since they're so tough it makes me ok with them being chases, and that there are 10 of them. I have a hal for different themes, and all of them will see play because of the keyword differences. i like the free comic book hal because its going to be a cheaper version that will fit a different theme and build. i'm not stuck with 1 or 2 giant hal jordans. it's a great set, just enjoy the ride.

Posted by: bgreyloc on 12/21/2010 12:33:56 PM
If it's Lantern, I want... (greater than):^}

Smart marketing move, NECA, given the release of the Green Lantern movie next Summer... now about making WL's chases... WTF?

Posted by: MEsch on 12/21/2010 11:21:25 AM
Good grief, NECA...
Do we really need yet ANOTHER Hal Jordan?!@#$%* They've made WAY too many frickin Lanterns in DC 75th. What about Lex Luthor? A new Joker?? Even Harly Quinn would have been welcome! How about some CSA figs? I'm sorry, but since I'm not a fan of the Lantern storyline, this set has really been a disappointment, with the exceptions of Star Sapphire, Ragdoll, Deadshot, John Stewart, and Bane... I think NECA went a little overboard with the White Lanterns. They're a little TOO powerful, in my opinion. Anyone else agree, or am I whistling in the wind?

Sigh...

Posted by: Owlman166 on 12/21/2010 9:38:03 AM
Hal Jordan is hands down one of my favorite characters of all time but having said that we sure have seen a lot of him recently. I agree this is a movie tie in much like the War Machine last year. I'm hoping this is a lower cost rookie version of Hal which will affordably fit in variety of builds and give us a bit of a different dial then were used to seeing.

Posted by: Jowzam on 12/21/2010 9:17:53 AM
Can anyone say MOVIE promo!!!

Posted by: john on 12/21/2010 6:27:40 AM
Really!!!! I'm all lanterned out with this new set and now this? Wasn't there enough lantern related things already like the Blackest and Brightest box sets and DC75th with like a quarter of the set being lanterns or lantern related.......if it had to be a lantern why not a character that deserves to be made seriously the corps consists of way more lanterns than just the human counterparts!!!!!

Posted by: bigcarecat on 12/21/2010 3:47:37 AM
ANOTHER HAL JORDAN?!?!?!?! Come on!!! Please stop!! There are enough Hal Jordans since the Brave and the Bold!!! Please put another character!! DC has A LOT OF characters they could include. Maybe this is because of the material, and... they want to save!? (by the way this figure seems to be the same green lantern in the duo character with Green Arrow in Brave and the Bold!)

Posted by: JasonCR on 12/21/2010 12:13:13 AM
I REALLY wish they would stop putting a Hal Jordan in almost every DC set here lately, don't get me wrong I like the character but why not make some Green Lanterns that haven't been made yet (like: Sadam Yate, Salaak, or Sinestro's daughter for example) or that desperately need a re-make (like: Kilowogg). After Free Comic Book Day, I hope we don't see another Hal Jordan for AT LEAST 3 or 4 DC Sets.

Posted by: DSK007 on 12/20/2010 11:40:15 PM
I LIKE IT lol, I'm glad they took the sculpt off of the Brave and Bold Duo dial, i just hope this is a cheaper Hal closer to 120pts, and i hope they make singles of all those Brave sculpts
