From wikipedia: Gen 13 is a fictional superhero team and comic book series originally written by Jim Lee and Brandon Choi and illustrated by J. Scott Campbell. It was originally published by Image Comics under the banner Wildstorm, which went on to become an imprint for DC Comics, who continued publishing the Gen 13 title. The comic features a loosely organized team of super-powered beings composed of five teens and their mentor.

Your Comments:
Now Rainmaker here falls into the category of we got one, why would we need another for 5 years characters. Pyslocke is a popular member of the X-Men. But while Rainmaker's power set is interesting, the character is not interesting enough to chase down.

And that is my problem with most of the monthly OP kit offerings. If I got the piece it was based off of, I'm just not in the chase. I'll go for the X-Men because the team bases I pulled were 2 copies of the Shiar. The rest, like the GotG LEs, I'll leave for someone else or trade.

@LE: Going to agree to disagree.

2014 retirement retired the SM Kryptonite pieces that DC10th Lex Luthor can place on the field. DC10th Lex is still an amazing piece without them.

Lynch here can be used with the team base, but does not require it. It is an option.

IMO, any cost relating to using the team base is included in the team base, considering that adding any character to any team base is 5 points, regardless of the power the pieces gives to the team base. Being able to deploy 200 point WatX Gladiator along side the Shiar team base is way more potent than being able to deploy John Lynch.

@superfriend: I did think it over, and I decided it a new article is not needed. This John Lynch dial, for example, is supposed to go with the Gen 13 team and it's team base -- this article was already created for that. This dial should have have come out last year, but instead was released now -- but it doesn't change the fact that the cost of the Team Base ability is in there (you're paying for it), and you can't use it unless you have the base. It's part of this set and belongs here.

Think about this -- what happens when Teen Titans rotates out of Modern Age? What happens to John Lynch? It doesn't change the fact that he has to be part of this team and this team dial.

@LE
as I said in the Angel preview, I think these would be better served with their own article and a link to the related team base articles.

i don't have any interest in gen 13, not a hater. just
ignorant like ernest t bass.

I've been waiting years for this to get released. Missed their chance with Indy all those years ago.
Only team I'm exited about in this TT set.

Word of advice to the haters: read the comics.

It was also sad that the DC cards never had cover at on them.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/19/2013 1:38:15 PM
I'm kind of with Creed on this one as I have really no interest in Gen 13. I have no idea who they are. Some nice dials and amusingly named traits :) but little else. I really wish wizkids would put the characters back stories onto the cards again. As I read relatively few comics, but love games with dice, it was the carded clix of Avengers onwards that got me into the game (and occasionally made me buy a comic as the backstory on a character's card sounded so interesting. Why Wizkids stopped doing this after Galactic Guardians I will never know but it has reduced my desire for clix like Gen13.

I kind of like all 3 of these dials because of the unique combination of powers.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/13/2013 11:35:28 AM
@Creed. As of the end of the FlashPoint event which launched the "new 52" universe, all of the former Wildstorm universe is now part of the DC universe. That is why we were able to get the Wildcats (in Batman and SOG) and now Gen 13.

We already know there is a nu52 version of Fairchild in the set as well, at least in the Fast Forces set which features the nu52 team "the Ravagers". The Ravagers team and comic ties heavily into both the current nu52 Teen Titans comic and the nu52 Superboy comic. The nu52 Legion Lost comic also tied in for a while. I think an nu52 version of Warblade is also in the stories. Not 100% sure because I was only reading the Teen Titans comic.

Are these characters even from DC? Wtf!? What a stupid figure release. With all the other super teams out there.. They choose Gen 13. Waste. Huge huge waste.

Posted by: Creed on 3/12/2013 8:29:44 AM
What the hell is Wizkids doing to this game..? I have no desire to play heroclix anymore.

Posted by: Blitz2301 on 3/12/2013 8:26:37 AM
Does anyone know if this is a specific place - like Yancy St would be for the Fantastic Four - or if it is just a generic street? A specific location would make owning it more desirable.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/12/2013 7:04:28 AM
Disappointing preview as we have seen this sculpt since the set was announced. It was also shown at NYTF. Also it likely means we will see the dials of the attached pieces over the rest of the week, which means nothing new in terms of which characters are in the set all week.
