06-24-2013: It's the Blue STrike Force Dial!

Looks like it'll inclide Gambit, Beast, Wolverine, Psylocke, Cyclops (the best mutant ever), Rogue, and Jubilee!

From wikipedia: "Wolverine and the X-Men is a comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The title features Wolverine in his role as the headmaster of Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, the students of the school, and various members of the mutant superhero team, the X-Men. The initial issues of Wolverine and the X-Men mainly featured the Jean Grey School and its faculty and students. The main antagonist in the book was a new Hellfire Club made up of homicidal genius children, led by Kade Kilgore."

@ Superfriend. good point about the secondary market splitting off the figures. I'd not thought of that but it is one reason to re-print them. As for Rogue can anyone clarify the special power "take who you are"? Can she steal attack one turn then defence the next and keep both. Or, when she steals, does she lose the previous replacement even if she steals the other combat value. I think that's the intent but then the last line of the power should read "This lasts until she choses to replace any combat value through the use of this power".

Another thing about team bases. If you try to buy them on the secondary market, they do not come with the figures. The on line stores all separate the figures from the bases and sell the figures separately. Often the base itself is cheaper than any of the individual pieces.

Not sure why folks are so hung up on the team base issue. The Deadpool set had several pieces to go on the AvX team bases. I do not remember people raising a complaint about needing to play in the AvX events in order to have the bases for those figures.

Posted by: superfriend on 9/18/2014 8:59:34 AM
I won her the other day but since I dont have the team base it's kind of a waste. I guess its a good thing I like her.. lol

Posted by: Bliss on 9/17/2014 9:20:35 AM
A nice 'locke for the points but I'm with The Le on this one. What's the point? That sculpt was hardish to get hold of and the re release makes it... still kind of hard to get hold of. It adds to a team base but doesn't add a new character, just a replacement. It's not a big enough prize to stir excitement for the teambase and if you do love the teambase... well you already own this sculpt!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 9/17/2014 7:53:58 AM
FYI, if you go to HeroClix . com , hover over the "DOWNLOADS", select Retailer Assets, that page loads and you can see all of the monthly OP kits which all feature 3 new dials, 1 new sculpt, 2 reused sculpts. The reused sculpts so far seem to be from the characters which were only obtainable in the team base boxes.

Posted by: superfriend on 9/15/2014 12:58:53 PM
Have not heard a reason why the OP kits have gone from set related to these themed versions. Not sure if players care about re-use of sculpts on LEs as LEs have almost always been re used sculpts until very recently.

As for the team base issue, I'll be using these without the team bases, as regular pieces. The Deadpool set had several pieces which fit in the AvX bases. Daredevil, Deadpool, Cable to name a few. They work fine on their own.

Sidestep and the other new powers are going to be interesting. One way I see Sidestep being used is to move a character out of hindering terrain so their movement is not halved.

I was hoping this Rogue would be a better representation than the other Rogue clix. The 90's Rogue is my favorite. I like the attitude, costume, and big Southern Belle hairstyle. Imo, she should have Invulnerability. And Energy Steal would be great too. The trait she comes with is really cool, but I just cannot believe she only has Toughness. Anyone who read the 80's-90's comics or even watched the 90's cartoon knows she would have Invulnerability. But I do have to say this is the best Rogue sculpt, so I am definitely buying it.

On the other hand, Psylocke is really cool. I really like her powers. Almost all of the clix in this set look really cool.

I'm really looking forward to this WatX set. I just hope it's not going to be too expensive lol.

Really starting to hate this side step power. I think Cyclops should have it mid dial and running shot to start and Beast should have charge to start and maybe side step mid dial, but to start them both off with that power is kind of lame. No complaints other than that. And that Rogue is amazing.

Posted by: L on 6/28/2013 5:12:20 PM
Disappointed that Psylocke and Rogue are with the base rather than in boosters.

Posted by: annoyinglizardvoice on 6/28/2013 3:24:05 PM
Team bases are killing the game. Horribly unfun.

Posted by: John r. White on 6/28/2013 11:19:29 AM
@Superfriend: It's a trade off. It's definitely less useful because you need to have 2 specific characters next to each other, but it's also comic accurate (which appeases to the comic fanboys).

On the other hand, if you could break comic accuracy by playing multiple Wolverines adjacent to one Jubilee.

Posted by: The Le on 6/27/2013 1:46:39 PM
One more thing. Powers/traits like Jubilee's +1 when adjacent to character X are overdone. Its a thing that makes the character better, but it is very situational. What if I have been unlucky and never pulled the figure for the +1? What if I personally like character A but severely dislike character X? I can see it once in a while, but it feels overused.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/27/2013 1:33:02 PM
Not trolling, just trying to point out how annoying the repetition is.

Back to the pieces. Some of these pieces are getting too crazy. The white powers, which are supposed to allow for uniqueness are being overdone. Does any character really need more than 1? Before you answer, remember that the game ran merrily along for at least 5 years without any white powers.

For example, for Gambit, I would toss the 2 traits and keep the white movement power.

Unless you mean he gets used waaay too much in every comic out there. I do not think Wolverine is over rated. Of course its just my opinion, but the guy has taken on some of the most powerful characters in the MU. I mean he stabbed thanos while he wore the infinity gauntlet. Fought Galactus (sorta). He is awesome. For the record I like Captain Marvel more.

Looking forward to this set a lot. However after the Teen Titans set, cannot say I like the idea of the team bases. Unless the large (team bases) booster's can be brought by shops for there customers as separate item other than as 1 per brick, then as a customer I cannot see me getting many more in the future.

Posted by: Dread on 6/27/2013 9:44:16 AM
@superfriend As long as you are not trolling or being unnecessarily mean, you are more than welcome to contribute your comments, including your previous one!

Posted by: The Le on 6/27/2013 8:42:58 AM
@Le - Please stop moaning about Improved Movement every time it shows up. We get it, you don't like the way it was implemented. It reduces my desire to come here and see these.

Point. Wouldn't you have rather heard my reaction to these new figures than what I typed above?

Posted by: superfriend on 6/27/2013 7:03:42 AM
This is just great! The expansion I always dreamed and asked for! I love X-Men 90's and Jim Lee customes! Jubilee and Gambit rocks!!! I hope Jubes will not be as expensive as Starfires! And if they are...Nothing to do, I will have to pay for them! But worth it! LOL

Posted by: JasonCR on 6/27/2013 6:52:41 AM
After Raven, the one piece show in the original promo for Teen Titans ended up as a Super Booster only piece, I was not surprised at all to find out Rogue came with the Blue team base. Bummed that Psylocke does too. I would like to get both the Blue and Gold bases more for the characters attached than anything else.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/26/2013 11:10:26 AM
I WOULD NOT EVEN FEEL BAD ABOUT PLAYING THIS TEAM BASE. (UNLESS MY OPPONENT ONE SHOTTED ME WITH THE JUSTICE LEAGUE.) LOOKS FUN.

Posted by: APOV1 on 6/26/2013 7:12:17 AM
WOW! I see a lot of potential from this and can't wait to see the gold strike force team dial(got to see it up close at origins). Just imagine roll a 3 on the asset dial gives you the ability to regen while using working together and a chance at an additional turn.

Posted by: Predator on 6/25/2013 3:50:06 PM
Jean is coming, no fear. But at that point in X-Men history, the team had two groups. jean was in the Gold Strike Force. And from pictures taken at Origins, we know that we are getting the Gold team as a team base as well.

Jean Grey
Iceman
Archangel
Colossus
Storm
Bishop

All confirmed.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/25/2013 6:32:37 AM
seems like a missed chance to make the 90s cartoon team base. if only they switched out phylock for jean...

Posted by: vidious on 6/25/2013 5:49:34 AM
Sweet! I don't like team bases but this is awesome.
