Guardian of the Galaxy Heroclix Spoilers...

Guardians of the Galaxy HeroClix

From wikipedia: "The Guardians are active in the 31st century in an alternative time-line of the Marvel Universe Earth-691. The original members of the team include Major Vance Astro, an astronaut from the 20th century Earth who spends a thousand years travelling to Alpha Centauri in suspended animation. He is also the future alternative universe counterpart of Vance Astrovik, the hero known as Justice.

Other original team members are Martinex T'Naga, a crystalline being from Pluto; Captain Charlie-27, a soldier from Jupiter; and Yondu Udonta, a blue-skinned "noble savage" from Centauri-IV (the fourth planet orbiting the star Alpha Centauri B). Each is apparently the last of their kind and they are forced to unite as a team against the actions of the Badoon, an alien race which attempts to conquer Earth's solar system."

according to Wk official rulings page Thanos's Trait: choose the gauntlet or the tribute: was in tending to get around first turn immunity.. they are saying that even tho it says: at the beggining of your first turn: it was suppose to be the beginning of the game: so for all who owns this piece(cough, cough) me! take my damage fools!!! its the rules! now let me ask? choose the gauntlet or the tribute!? >:)

Posted by: decoder on 8/23/2014 12:27:01 PM
Another question: the chases from DP AN GOTG are all uniques yet there is a team base?? Now dosent that break the only one unique on your team at a time rule?

Posted by: decoder on 8/18/2014 8:36:34 AM
Hey guys question about the new Thanos!
Ok his trait the: choose the gauntlet or the tribute states "on your first turn" but with the first turn immunity rule it states" you can't deal any damage on the first turn. So is his trait pointless? Cause exampl: say I roll first, I can't do anything do to first round immunity? Ok another example: I choose to pass my turn then they pass back to me? Round 1 over? Ok another example: he rolls first turn and chooses to pass to me, I still can't use his trait... And the only way I see that this trait would work is if the other guy is dumb enough to move/ or do anything that first turn :/ so tell me guys is this a wasted trait?

remember when I sais I coudnt wait to get my hands on thanos or magneto? just bought them both :)

Posted by: decoder on 8/12/2014 2:20:23 AM
Isn't this supposed to be releasing soon?

Posted by: white phoenix of the crown on 8/11/2014 7:01:29 PM
i saw that chase magneto and instantly was like mine haha

Posted by: decoder on 8/9/2014 1:52:47 PM
I think this set releases soon. Wonder if we'll get any last minute spoilers.

Posted by: Bobby on 8/7/2014 8:50:19 PM
Just seen the new thanos dial and can't wait to get my hands on it :)

Posted by: Decoder on 7/30/2014 2:27:09 AM
actually a new Thanos would be cool to have so if Wk makes him a chase again.. im prolly gonna buy one, like to see a small galactus sculpt to something i can have bored control with instead of a giant piece taking up the whole map

Posted by: decoder on 7/24/2014 10:24:37 AM
i just want drax the destroyer!!! he was one of the first clix ive played

Posted by: decoder on 7/21/2014 5:29:03 PM
Now that WK has Nerfed us I'm now forced to buy GOTG just to compinsate for the loss in tournament legal peices which I have very few thank you very much :x

Posted by: The Wanderer on 7/12/2014 11:26:43 PM
Cannot remember where, but I saw something that showed the side of the booster box and a few pieces from the comic set. new pieces:

Thane and the Black Order (from the Infinity story).

"Figures have not been announced". Then it is time to announce some.

Starter: Starlord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot, Ronan.

Posted by: superfriend on 7/2/2014 10:42:07 AM
Excellent. Hopefully (1) WK included all the stuff in the starter this time and (2) my LGS will get them in. Then I can pick one up tomorrow.

Popped out to e Bay and found there are also Target exclusives for this like there have been for most movie sets. The gravity feeds at Target should share the same 8 commons but have 4 different rares and a different chase.

Hobby set 01-08, 09-12, 17.
Target set 01-08. 13-16, 18.

Posted by: superfriend on 7/2/2014 10:38:55 AM
@Superfriend: According to ICV2, it's supposed to come out today...

The single-figure foil packs retail for $2.99. There are 13 different figures, and five figures specifically unique to the core hobby SKU. The rarity breakdown is 8 Common figures, 4 Core-hobby exclusive Rare figures, and 1 core hobby exclusive Chase figure.

The Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Starter Set includes six figures, two maps, a rulebook, the HeroClix Powers and Abilities card, and tokens. Figure contents have not been announced. MSRP is $24.99.

The Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Mini Game will include two figures, an exclusive fold-up game board, a quick-start rules sheet, Bystander tokens, and dice. Figure contents have not been announced. MSRP is $9.99.

Hey, I just realized, the movie set is supposed to hit soon (today?) @LE - could you confirm that?

Maybe while we wait for news of the comic set, we could find some pics of the movie set to tide us over.

Posted by: superfriend on 7/2/2014 7:16:31 AM
Well, to be fair, the WOL previews have been givings us 4 to 6 pieces each week. That is more than we were getting from the HeroClix site itself.

Hoping the GotG previews start soon.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/27/2014 7:25:19 AM
@superfriend: Been wondering about that myself. I'd say things have been slowing down since LOSH was released... and in the last 4 weeks we've seen almost nothing (except for War of light, but even that is over at newsarama... not exactly a heroclix centric place).

Even The Flash HeroClix isn't slated till Xmas... that's an awful long time between DC sets. Lately it appears WK is more interested in selling OP kits to make money than boosters.

Posted by: The Le on 6/20/2014 12:06:20 PM
really beginning to wonder what has happened to previews.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/20/2014 12:03:36 PM
This set looks pretty good; really like that Drax clix! And Groot is huge!!!

Posted by: rwint1968 on 6/19/2014 7:49:48 PM
yes they finally added a deathstroke avatar! ive known deathstroke all my life so now i can swith between him an deadpool haha faves!!!

Posted by: decoder on 6/14/2014 3:44:10 PM
@twolv
Vance Astro appears to be in the set. There is a picture from a magazine I have seen on line with about a dozen pieces including Vance Astro, but google and bing are both unwilling to show it to me currently. I found individual pics for GotG Iron Man and Starbrand pieces, but not the pic from the magazine.

@LE - maybe you would have better luck finding the pic. I think it was in Game Trade Magazine.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/9/2014 7:20:40 AM
hope they gring vance astro out with caps shield
we have part of the team Hollywood charlie 27 Martinex nikki and Cosmo plus drax from gal.gaurd

Posted by: twolv on 6/6/2014 9:28:33 PM
dying on the vine for an official release announcement with pics of more figures.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/6/2014 7:27:55 AM
@Lord Logan
Sorry you were not happy with what you got. I know a number of people felt this way about the set.

Your only defense against that is to stay up to date with sites like this and a few others and read the latest news and rumors of upcoming sets. The original name of the set, Mighty Avengers, was originally how the set was referred to and talked about. To me, the name change was just that, a name change. It did nothing to make me think the contents of the set had changed.

Two thing that differ hugely in my experience from yours.

One, I buy a bunch from every Marvel and DC set, regardless of the characters. I always find some fun combinations to play/

Two, I rarely ever pre-order, instead picking up boosters a few each week at the local store. This helps the store and it keeps me excited that I might pull something new every time I go. My last trip I pulled several pieces I still needed: IIM Crimson Cowl, Thunderball and Northstar.

Posted by: superfriend on 6/2/2014 8:44:58 AM
I am happy to see Guardians get there own set. And I'm not talking about the movie.

Posted by: Lord Logan on 5/30/2014 10:48:07 AM
I was so pissed that the Mighty Avengers set was called Chaos War. I pre-ordered a case of Chaos War thinking that is what I'd get but when I pulled figures I soon realized that they lied for the sake of advertising. I hate the consistent remakes of characters we already have 20 versions of (Iron Man, Thor, etc). The only figures I truly wanted from that set were Chaos King And the Hercules/Thor duo. Lucky for them I got them in the case.

Posted by: Lord Logan on 5/30/2014 10:47:19 AM
Wondering if the announcement on Heroclix dot com which included the picture above will count as the official announcement of the set. I know there was a picture in a magazine of about a dozen pieces, but I would like to see an announcement like the ones done for Deadpool and SLOSH which clearly showed a handful of sculpts from the main set, the gravity feed, the fast forces and an LE.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/28/2014 7:50:10 AM
@Mantis
Not disagreeing with you about over kill of a theme, just pointing out that WK has been doubling up with sets of the same theme for a while now. Word is there was enough concern about set name confusion that the set called Mighty Avengers was changed to Chaos War.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/27/2014 11:36:23 AM
@ Superfriend. Sorry meant to say comic and movie set"at the same time" is overkill. But that may be me jumbling release schedules:)

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 5/23/2014 7:02:03 AM
We got a comic and a movie set for Avengers and Iron Man 3, so not really a surprise we are getting both.

We will do what we have always done, buy in to each as much as we want and leave the rest behind. In general, I find myself happier if I skip the movie sets, yet I played against a CAWS Winter Soldier piece recently which I found to be very interesting and I may try to pick one up.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/22/2014 12:16:00 PM
Comic book set AND movie set!? Sounds a bit overkill. Mind you the comic sculpts don't look like the costumes I recognise for the characters whilst the movie trailer looks a bit more 'classic' in the costume department so perhaps I'll have to mix and match.

Oh that Groot looks brilliant in the comic set, but then he has no costume anyway!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 5/22/2014 5:18:22 AM
These sculpts look pretty cool.

Groot looks to be a giant in the scale of Giganta, Colossal Boy, Validus and Mordru of SLOSH. I hope he is. I like fielding Giganta as a member of the Legion of Doom. Makes me wonder what other giant size characters we might be getting.

Rocket Raccoon looks amazing too. Love the oversized gun which is as big as he is.

Even if a few of these guys were in the Galactic Guardians set, they still have very few versions out there. I'm looking forward to this set.

Posted by: superfriend on 5/21/2014 11:19:25 AM
There is a new image floating around from a magazine showing roughly a dozen sculpts from this set. Some are already here in this article, some are new. Here are a few names I remember

Iron Man
Starbrand
a new Thanos
Vance Astro

Posted by: superfriend on 5/5/2014 12:15:34 PM
This set really needs a publicity boost. Completely overshadowed by War of Light and Flash at this point.

*** Spoiler Alert ***
Angela has been very recently revealed to be part of a certain group in the Marvel Universe. The question is, did Wk know about it in enough time to give her that realms keyword?

Posted by: superfriend on 4/30/2014 7:08:04 AM
This week's Agents of Shield time slot on ABC is going to be a "behind the scenes" look at several upcoming movies including a trailer of the Guardians of the Galaxy Movie! Might be a few hints of character selection there.

Posted by: superfriend on 3/17/2014 7:39:19 AM
I definitetly get the Inhumans FF just for Karnak and Gorgon other wise not all that intersted

Posted by: The Wanderer on 2/23/2014 2:42:51 PM
not at the figures, at myself for buying them. just not interested in most of them.

Posted by: superfriend on 2/17/2014 1:35:37 PM
@superfriend: Why are you ticked at the movie figures?

Posted by: Analysis on 2/17/2014 12:14:03 PM
So anihilus, black bolt and many others are getting their 2nd or 3rd release. While Shazam! has yet to get one. Once again.. Very impressed by Wizkids developers. Not.

Posted by: HeroixHater on 2/17/2014 12:10:45 PM
I'm all about getting new characters into Clix. After that, I'm most interested in characters we have not seen in a long time. if we get mostly folks who were not in the Galactic Guardians set, I'll be happy.

To avoid getting the same characters over and over again, I'll be skipping the movie set like I skipped the Batman movie set. how do I know this is the right move? Because I'm still ticked at the IM3 and SMOS pieces I bought.

Posted by: superfriend on 2/17/2014 7:09:49 AM
Yay another Galactic Guardians set! (Rolls eyes)

Posted by: HeroclixHater on 2/14/2014 7:21:36 PM
@Mantis Warrior: Trust me...it sounds like a good way to get low cost clix, but you do NOT want WizKids in your house.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/14/2014 1:49:52 PM
@ Analysis. The problem is Wizkids/Neca lives across the Atlantic!!! If they lived here I could get Black Bolt/ Crystal for £3! If you're reading this Wizkids I have a spare room :)

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 2/14/2014 7:44:23 AM
@Mantis Warrior: The problem is that you live across the Atlantic. In the States you can get Black Bolt and Crystal for less than $15 a piece.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/13/2014 5:38:03 PM
Finally a non-super-rare-stupidly-expensive-on-the-singles-market Blackbolt. One of my few must have but don't own characters will finally be mine!! Hope the dial is reasonable too but in all honesty I'll but the Fast Forces just for him regardless. The other inhumans are pretty old but not in need of too much updating? Karnak from Sinister (or was it Supernova) is still useable and FF Lockjaw will be hard to improve upon. Chrystal I do need though as she's another super-rare who slipped the net.

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 2/13/2014 5:10:54 AM
I really hope thats Annihilus in the far upper left corner Ravonous and my Annihilation Seekers need there God!

Posted by: The Wanderer on 2/12/2014 6:10:03 PM
I'm a big fan of the original Guardians of the Galaxy so I'm hoping we get to see a lot of them.

It's the Inhumans I'm not so sure we needed to see remade so soon.

Posted by: Analysis on 2/12/2014 2:46:16 PM
Disappointed to see another load of these guys so soon. I'll avoid buying much of this so I can get extra Deadpool instead.

Posted by: annoyinglizardvoice on 2/12/2014 2:12:29 PM
I'll double check the original text, but I'm pretty sure it's a 20-sided map, which will go perfectly with my 9 sided-die.

Posted by: The Le on 2/12/2014 1:47:34 PM
20 sided map you say. I think I smell a type-o.

Posted by: skavinger on 2/12/2014 1:12:03 PM
Interesting that we are getting another Gamora so soon.

Posted by: superfriend on 1/8/2014 11:01:41 AM
Webhead2099 -the green chick in the white armor with the sword in the bottom middle isgamora, and to the left of her is peter quill star lord, these are their cocostumes from the current run of guardians

Posted by: basslion09 on 12/25/2013 12:37:13 PM
More clix for my 10,000 point team. Wonder what gamora looks like

Posted by: Webhead2099 on 12/24/2013 1:25:50 AM
hope vance astro has caps shhield hollywood simon williams the female yellow jacket

Posted by: twolv on 12/24/2013 12:49:27 AM
@ChronoFett: My bad. I didn't post days 10 and 11 because it was lame -- not even Clix related. I'll get it up shortly.

Posted by: The Le on 12/22/2013 8:15:51 PM
Ummmm.....anyone have any idea where Day 10 and 11 are?? What happened?

Posted by: ChronoFett on 12/22/2013 3:32:33 PM
Agreed!! Day 9 is the best preview yet. Killraven!! If you don't know him, look him up! Goody but oldie character from 70s.

Posted by: chromedome on 12/21/2013 1:29:51 PM
OMG!!! Starhawk and Yondu!!!!Merry X-mas to me!
Now come on Capt. Marvel in the Legion set!
Starhawk! Awesome!

Posted by: princeoforphans on 12/21/2013 8:16:00 AM
ANGELA!

Posted by: white phoenix of the crown on 12/20/2013 6:47:31 PM
Omg, idk whether this is a movie set or upcoming set, bit either way I love seeing gamora and Pete in their current uniforms , long shot but hopefully I get the space armor iron man

Posted by: basslion09 on 12/20/2013 5:06:11 PM
I know we've gotten a smattering of this team from Hammer of Thor forward, most recently in Galactic Guardians. Adding these to those will give a great variety in building teams based on this theme. And we haven't see Yondu since the first carded set!

Posted by: superfriend on 12/20/2013 12:32:13 PM
yes i agree i cant wait for this movie and set GROOOOOOT!!!

Posted by: ThaChickenMan on 12/20/2013 12:11:12 PM
Now this (day 9) is what I call a preview!
