Any chance to another set of Heroclix Halo? Anybody know something....?

i got a brick

I love the new halo figs! Playing them was so much fun, I disagree with anyone who says they shouldn't be compatible with other clix. Cross over battles are were its at!

Posted by: Spider-Man 071 on 10/4/2011 9:28:15 AM
Halo HeroClix is 100% compatible with the current Golden/Modern Age HeroClix -

I certainly wish they weren't at all, but for tournaments they should be only Golden Age.

Posted by: ajsprint on 9/2/2011 10:07:38 AM
@mbZero: I was the only judge in the Akron OH area (Cuyahoga Falls) for many years. When I took a step back, I appointed the duties to two "new" judges. Now I handle all the scheduling and marketing, while the new judges gets to run it all (and keep the prizes). Sometimes i miss judging, but not often.

I also lived in Pittsburgh for many years before moving here, so I was usually in Phantom of the Attic getting my weekly comic books. I was also in a gaming club at Central Catholic High school for a yaer.

Posted by: The Le on 9/2/2011 7:39:47 AM
@The Le: say, weren't you one of the head judges at one point in time? I remember hair10 was the big kahuna, but I seem to remember you from somewhere...

dairoka said: "HYDRA and Police TAs have mechanics similar to this, and none of them specifically state "until the action resolves" or "for this attack"."

Well done. That's good enough for me. I concede to your logic!

Posted by: The Le on 9/1/2011 7:41:26 PM
@LE. So, since the power doesn't specifically state that the -1 DV doesn't last until the end of the game, does that mean it lasts until the end of the game?

It's a bit more clear if you read it without the targeting restriction.

When MARINE makes a ranged combat attack targeting an opposing character, modify the opposing character's defense value by -1.

HYDRA and Police TAs have mechanics similar to this, and none of them specifically state "until the action resolves" or "for this attack".

Activation: When Marine makes a ranged attack.
Criteria: is the target an opposing character who has been hit by another friendly character this turn?
Effect: Modify the DV of the target by -1.
Duration: When Marine makes a ranged attack.

There is nothing in the description of the power to imply that this Modifier lasts beyond the Marine ranged attack, or until the end of the turn, or that it would act like Perplex.

Posted by: dairoka on 9/1/2011 6:39:08 PM
@dairoka: I see it as two seperate events. The moment Marine attacks that opponent, it is given a -1. If it acts like Perplex, then the target would keep that penalty until the beginning of the next turn. If it acts like RCE, then it's only until the action resolves... but unlike RCE, Flanking Fire doesn't specify until the end of the action... so again, I think this power needs clarification.

Posted by: The Le on 9/1/2011 6:18:10 PM
Looks like Halo is shaping up to be a set I'm going to be collecting. I don't play it, but these clicks are very useful for their points.

Posted by: dairoka on 9/1/2011 5:31:01 PM
@ LE, re: Marine Flanking Fire. "The special power doesn't say "until the action resolves" or "for this attack".

Actually, it kinda does.

"When MARINE makes a ranged combat attack targeting an opposing character that was hit by another friendly character this trun, modify rhe opposing character's defense value by -1".

The effect: -1 DV to the target.
The target: the character that MARINE is targeting.

The -1 DV only applies to that Marine for that attack and only when all of the requirements are met.

Posted by: dairoka on 9/1/2011 5:23:03 PM
@Kragnorak, I see what your're saying, and yes, you could:
Perplex the Marine's Attack Value by +3 and Perplex the Marine's target's Defense Value by two, then if the Marine qualifies for Flanking Fire, his target would get an additional -1 DV, for a net +3 AV and -3 DV. The way you phrased it was a bit misleading, though, because "6 extra to hit" looks like you're referring to Perplexing the AV by 6.

Posted by: dairoka on 9/1/2011 5:14:39 PM
@marvelironman It should be for everyone since there is only one "Grenade Pool" that your entire team shares.

Posted by: The Le on 9/1/2011 3:18:11 PM
Can't wait for this series. Way better than the Superman series.

Is Extra Grenades for all of your characters, or just Spartan?

Posted by: sparkdemon on 9/1/2011 12:50:48 PM
Doesn't matter how many times a character is perplexed -- the final must be within +3 and -3. From the rulebook:
----
"Whenever the sum of all modifiers applied to a single combat value is greater than +3 or less than -3, the sum of all modifiers is instead +3 or -3, respectively."
----
So you could theoretically perplex a target character to +99, but the rule of three kicks in after that, and drops it down to +3.

Posted by: The Le on 9/1/2011 12:34:21 PM
That's not getting around the rule of three; that is the rule of three. You can't affect a stat by more than three. Affecting the attack and affecting a target's defense, though obviously related, are different stats. A tip for you: it's more efficient to lower a target's defense if you plan on attacking it with more than one character than it is to boost your first attacker's attack. The target, even when hit, will still be affected.

Posted by: mbZero on 9/1/2011 10:58:29 AM
I am not a cheesemonger, so the Flanking Fire power brings to mind a rules question I never thought of:

Is it possible to get around the Rule of 3 by Perplexing up AND down?

i.e. if I have 5 Perplexers can i Perplex the Marine up 3 times and the target down twice and then have him Flank for a total of 6 extra to hit?

Posted by: Kragnorak on 9/1/2011 10:26:51 AM
@bgreyloc: Are you sure? The special power doesn't say "until the action resolves" or "for this attack". So it could literally interpreted as lasting until the beginning of your next turn.

Posted by: The Le on 8/31/2011 8:17:57 AM
The flanking fire special, modifies for that attack only, by the marine.

Posted by: bgreyloc on 8/31/2011 7:46:18 AM
Arbiter/MC look really cool and all, but something isn't quite right. He feels about 20 points over priced to me. They're very good, though, I will say.

i am so excited for this set!!!

Posted by: sgtfury on 8/25/2011 10:29:29 AM
It's only 1 click anyways and they r the vest of the best of non spartan units and like I said all the heroes listed off can easily hurt them

Posted by: Jeris on 8/24/2011 2:32:51 PM
I am a little suprised myself that ODSTs have Invulnerability. I can see it on spartans, but not ODSTs. Toughness would be much more fitting.

Posted by: Spider-Man 071 on 8/24/2011 8:20:50 AM
@Jeris
I have no problem with ODST's having Invulnerability against Covenant forces, thugs, etc... I DO have a problem when it comes to Spidey, Batman, Hulk, etc...They're a bit too powerful IMHO. I will admit that first power is pretty cool, and completely accurate.

Posted by: Owlman166 on 8/23/2011 5:19:37 PM
@friendly neighborhood super soldier: still doesn't explain Lois lane not figuring out Clark is superman, she's around both of them all the time heck I'm suprised lex luthor hasn't even figured it out, i think ur giving metropolis too much credit

Posted by: Jeris on 8/22/2011 6:59:51 AM
@Kragnorak:

I don't think that it is that the people of Metropolis are dumb. It is more likely that they simply cannot fathom the thought of someone with the powers of a god choosing to lower himself to that of a simple human.

Posted by: Friendly Neighborhood Super Soldier on 8/20/2011 6:07:53 PM
@owlman: sure y not invuln, they r using armor from the future and taking alot of hits from energy weapons, not blunt objects or fists and if u want spider-man to hit them harder use his superstrength and if u want batman to get in his full damage outwit their defense if ur using one of the better batmans

Posted by: Jeris on 8/20/2011 5:19:49 PM
Invulnerability?! On an ODST?! What??? I don't think so; Maybe vs. covenant forces, but against Batman or Spiderman?! No! Just, just no...

Posted by: Owlman166 on 8/20/2011 8:11:09 AM
Jeris, why would Supes need a better disguise?

People in Metropolis are so dumb... (How dumb ARE they?)

They are so dumb that you can disguise yourself with a hunch and a pair of glasses inside a building full of investagive journalists and the news STILL won't spill!

AND you can even spend hours in close contact in BOTH identities with their top reporter and get away with it - I would say he's confident for a reason!

Posted by: Kragnorak on 8/19/2011 9:56:10 AM
I like the odst but it makes me worry that they might not have made buck. I'll still like the set but I think it'd be a mistake not to make the coolest human in the halo series thus far.

Posted by: Dren on 8/19/2011 3:37:23 AM
@obi wan: giving them just regular old energy explosion would suck, grenade mechanic is new, fun and better than energy explosion

@Joe: that's easy, buy halo heroclix. Superman is the most generic, overpowered, worst disguese wearing hero ever

Posted by: Jeris on 8/18/2011 7:57:23 PM
Okay now this ticks me off I have to choose between the Halo or Superman heroclix with superman being pushed back.

Posted by: joe on 8/16/2011 2:05:05 PM
Hehe, I'm glad they are reusing sculpts because I never got the older sets. This way I won't get OCD and feel the need to collect them (perhaps the vehicles).

Master Chief is 150 points (with Cortana's aid). That's Iron Man level. Do you guys feel that is about right?

There's something wrong with the dial design. The standout part of Halo gameplay is the regenerating shields. I don't see that on this dial. No regeneration which means once your shields are blasted off, you are SOL. I would have rather seen them come up with a cool shield mechanic than the grenade mechanic.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 8/15/2011 2:41:38 PM
Obi-Wan, I think that re-using the sculpts from the Halo Action Clix is not such a bad thing as, honestly, they were alot nicer sculpts than the majority of the stuff that WK/NECA has put out, I can say that as I have the majority of them for Halo obsessiveness sake lol.

Posted by: JD on 8/15/2011 2:10:41 PM
They keep over complicating the game. Instead of making a whole new grenade mechanic, why not just give them energy explosion?

Also, I don't mind bringing in other categories to heroclix, it makes the game more universal and allows for a larger fanbase, which will help to keep the game alive. The only thing I don't like about this is they are re-using sculpts from the failed Haloclix line that was not compatible with heroclix. Its just sad that Wizkids has gotten lazy about sculpting. Re-using the same model for different characters in the same set and now this?

Posted by: Obi-Wan on 8/8/2011 1:07:45 AM
I think a team consisting of Master Chief, Marcus Fenix and Captain America would be bad ass!I can't wait for this set!

Posted by: Spider-Man 071 on 8/5/2011 9:38:58 AM
Is that Elite Zealot a Super rare? His # appears to be 017, if I'm correct.

Posted by: Owlman166 on 7/26/2011 7:31:56 AM
Arby and the Chief! I WILL HAVE THIS DUO! Now if only I could see a Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield duo figure in a Resident Evil set...

Posted by: The Blue Hope on 7/25/2011 3:48:37 AM
Master Chief and Arbiter duo? Heckz Yes!

Posted by: 3GSniper on 7/24/2011 1:23:55 PM
I have another comment to counter those that complain about video game characters in HeroClix. HaloClix and Street Fighter Clix ARE comic book characters! I can tell because my girlfriend owns a Halo comic book. Do I complain when my opponent pulls out a character like Manos or Dirk Anger that I have never read about in a comic book? No. Why then would I care if he pulls out a Gears of War character?

The fact is that comics and video games have a large amount of overlap in terms of their place in media and our hearts (as Charlemagne implies). That is why in my garage I have game material for a Street Fighter RPG as well as a Marvel Comics RPG and a DC Comics RPG. That is why I have played Marvel vs. Capcom and seen Wolverine, Ryu, and Chun Li take on Dr. Doom, M. Bison, and Red Hulk. That is why there are video game advertisements in comic books going back to the late 1970s. Street Fighter was even a popular anime, and we all know the close relation between manga and anime.

Now, when reading comics, I often see interesting crossovers and guest stars. There is a sculpture sitting in my local comic shop commemorating the issues of "Superman vs. Muhammad Ali" for example.

So I honestly don't see the problem. As far as I'm concerned, anything that has been depicted in comic form should be fair game as long as WizKids can get the rights. Which means there is room for Godzilla, Transformers, Masters of the Universe, etc. etc.

Comic fans love debating things like "Who would win between Ryu, Ken, Wolverine, and Batman?" Thanks to WizKids/NECA, we can finally know the answer!

Posted by: Kragnorak on 7/24/2011 9:37:39 AM
This is going to be Cool!

Posted by: O-Mc on 6/25/2011 3:21:34 PM
I largely agree with Highlander34, except for one thing. I completely agree that expansion and variety is very good for the game... however, I take issue with them (WK) releasing two full-size sets only a couple weeks apart from each other. With Superman and HALO coming out roughly two weeks apart from each other it means that instead of buying a case of each like I originally wanted to, I'll only be buying a brick of each.

I think by doing it this way they'll actually end up losing money 'cause just because the amount of product being released has increased doesn't mean that the amount of my paychecks has too. If they released these even 6 weeks apart instead of 2 then I might be able to get a case of each. Or do they think that Superman fans and HALO fans are completely different demographics?

Posted by: Charlemagne on 6/11/2011 6:11:10 PM
Who said there wouldn't be any ODST guys. They have to put out 45 figures so I wouldn't give up hope on that front. As far as the market being flooded it just more options for people to play. If you don't want something don't buy it. I'm not a big DC fan and usually by less of those sets and would spend more on some of the stuff I do like beter like Marvel, Gear of War, Halo, etc. Expansion and variety is actually good for everyone overall.

Posted by: Highlander34 on 6/11/2011 3:33:57 PM
The Bad:
Reused sculpts
No ODSTs

The Good:
Heroclix Compatible
I love that there is going to be a grenade mechanic, that has been lacking in Heroclix for a long time.

I really wish WK would wake up and re-issue some ODSTs. They are hard to find and can be costly to collect. I was hoping to find them in this set and I'm disappointed to not find any.

Posted by: ninthdoc on 6/10/2011 12:55:53 PM
meh...just hoping that this "Grenade Mechanic" is a HALO-only mechanic...not something I'd be willing to incorporate into Heroclix.

That said, wouldn't those dials be costed for the Grenade mechanic and if this isn't useable in Heroclix, then those figures are "overcosted" since a mechanic they paid for in their point cost wouldn't be accounted for on the Heroclix side of things, hereby bloating their point costs.

Posted by: lancelot on 6/10/2011 9:23:39 AM
If I were big into video games, I would love to see them come to life much as clix have done for my favorite Marvel crew. If game play is close, having them on a map would be no problem for me. It may even gets other to give clix a try! The more the merrier IMO!

Posted by: thor1 on 6/9/2011 5:06:53 PM
I am super psyched!

Those of you who are upset by too much product, you do have the option of not buying the things you don't care about....

I say, the more product, the better! It's awesome that everything is compatible. It doesn't mean venues have to allow LOTR clix in superhero tournaments, it just means we have more options and can play out some fun scenarios, should we choose to do so.

It's also nice to not have to learn too many games. That always stopped me from getting nuts with Halo and Horrorclix. It's hard enough to keep up with the HC rules!

Posted by: Preacher13 on 6/9/2011 5:04:41 PM
I really have zero desire to collect or play against any of these video game (or LotR) licensed properties in an HC game. I'm REALLY hoping the folks at my venue largely ignore this stuff.

Posted by: hair10 on 6/9/2011 1:13:54 PM
I think this is great, I'm totally excited about all the video game heroclix sets coming out. It will be interesting seeing Magneto go against Master Chief and Ryu.

Posted by: RJ on 6/9/2011 1:06:34 PM
now if only they would redo aliens/Predator 100% compatible.

Posted by: Slade Wilson on 6/9/2011 12:03:36 PM
I love collecting but like many cannot keep up. I think the backlash will be guys gaming for a LONG time w/old sets and much more custom rules to allow the new sets at local non sanctioned games.

Posted by: Jimmors on 6/9/2011 10:39:48 AM
100% compatibility is nothing to complain about - I would have bought more Horrorclix if they were 100% compatible for example.

Is it more expensive to be a completist? Yes. Do you have to be a completist? No. Am I a completist? Yes. Am I aware that this is my stoopidity and not Wizkids/NECA's? Yes. Do I have fun collecting even though I cannot possibly keep up? Yes.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 6/9/2011 9:53:43 AM
(less than)(less than) I feel like the market is getting flooded. Because we have the normal dc and marvel sets which is fine, but now we have fast forces sets, halo, street fighter and gears of war. It's getting to be a little too much.

Posted by: Nafets920 on 6/9/2011 8:17:53 AM (greater than)(greater than)

I agree. The 3-4 "normal" full-size sets per year took care of a big chunk of my gaming $$, especially with all the Chase figures present in the last few sets; I was glad GSX did not include Chases!!

With Gravity Feeds and Fast Forces sets being released every month or so, the market is getting glutted.

The non-comic HeroClix-compatible releases may end up causing me to buy less HeroClix product overal.
