my friend used a Gideon to steal the blobs extra layers of fat power Gideon already had toughness. My friend argues that Gideon would then take no damage unless he was hit with penetrating damage. Is that how it would work?!?!?!

@TheFriendlyFoe...the word you're looking for is Ignored. "Blob ignores..." As you point out in the definition of Penetrating Damage; said damage, can be ignored.
Compared to the older Blob, this fat-boy is as sweet as the powdered sugar left on Blob's face. Nom!

Nevermind. "can" be evaded. My bad.

Blob's "Layers of Extra Fat" special reads "Blob ignores all but 1 damage dealt to him."
You say "Please note that Blob's special power ignores Psychic Blast and Exploit Weakness! Both of those standard powers deal Penetrating Damage, which is defined here. As you can see, PB and EW have no effect!"
As it is defined, "Penetrating damage is damage dealt that can’t be reduced (such as by the Toughness power), but can be evaded, ignored, increased, or transferred to another character."
Therefore, the damage dealt by Psychic Blast and Exploit Weakness deal damage that can't be ignored, meaning Blob would still take full damage, am I right?

with as big as he is and considering other figures Im shocked half his dial he can only dole out one damage. Lame

This Blob piece is really nice for 76 points, you guys are crazy to be complaining about this fig. For the points you get more then expected, if your opponent has characters with outwit take them out, send this guy in and finish up the rest.

This blob is awsome. if you play him on a team, he's gonna cause concern. he's a great tie up for the rest of the team to gt some shots off. great strategic piece, and tough for 76 points. he will get played.

The Blob forgot to wash his face after he brushed his teeth. hehehe
Still love it.

@Wangchung: why would you send a 76 point BLOB up against a monster like the HULK?
Posted by: The Le
on 3/11/2011 10:11:39 AM
this is kind of a let down. hes got a super good defense ability but this guy tops out at 3 damage???? what happens when he tries to go up against an opposing "big" character like hulk or the thing? he cant even touch them. for literally half his dial he cant even harm someone who has toughness :/

Traits can't be outwitted, special white powers CAN.
Posted by: Jake
on 3/11/2011 9:25:48 AM
Awesome. And by the wording there is no way that his trait or special defense can be outwitted, does not say use/posses anything, just says ignore all but 1 dmg

One outwit and this character becomes average! I wish his defense power was a trait instead, and then he would be a great piece for the points!

@Alex: as I mentioned, the vote was extremely close. As a matter of fact, BLOB was the clear #1 with Monday's voting, but he dropped to #3 on Tuesday's voting!
Once I added both days together, Blob got the win with just a 1.3% lead! It was really close.

his abilities screams mastermind henchman. Plus his low defense makes him easy to heal with support.

I agree with you HODAK. But I would like to go further! LOW ATTACK and DAMAGE. I play against you with nightcrawler???

Wow, that SP is something else especially since Psychic Blast and Exploit Weakness are basically useless against Blob. Nice!

I don't even like the Blob but this is a nice piece. A great tie up piece that I can guard my frail snipers.

It saddens me to see clix with unique or interesting powers that have combat stats too low for (their points) to use competitively.

pretty cool. Will definately see some play in a brotherhood of mutants team.

The Immovable Object trait actually is quite a detriment, but Extra Layers of Fat SP helps make up for it!! The Defense SP should ahve also Blb to use Toughness; no way should weenies likes cops and bystander tokens with 1-damage be able to harm Blob!
All in all, a good representation. I think he is costed too high, especially w/ his negative Trait, but Game Design struggling with costing.
