Batman Gotham City Strategy Game10-15-2012: The Alliance Open House had an interesting ad for the new Batman Gotham City Stragtegy Game. It appears that this game is a stand-alone game that comes with HeroClix-figures on Non-HeroClix bases.

However, this new Batman game uses the SwitchClix mechanic, allowing you to take the characters off of the Strategy Game base and plop them onto a HeroClix compatible base!

According to the preview, the game includes Batman, The Joker, Killer Croc, Two-Face, and the Penguin! For 2-4 players, ages 14 and up!

11-30-2012: Below is the HeroClix compatible TWO-FACE! Batman beware because this rogue can use Willpower (the best defense power in the game), Ranged Combat Expert, and Running Shot! And to add insult to injury, he can turn off Batman's Stealth!

This is out, why is it still listed "Coming soon"

Wow the character stats are awesome. Love the penguin bombs. I watched a video review on this game and it looks like fun. Im not a fan of the vehicles nor the switch clix rules, but having these models switch between the bgc and heroclix is awesome. Two games in one! Im getting this

Posted by: Pandab0mb on 3/20/2013 2:13:52 PM
The dice aren't usable in any normal HC game. They only have the numbers 1-3 on 5 sides with one side being the bat-symbol. Don't get it just for custom dice, for you will be dissapointed.

Posted by: krusticlese on 3/20/2013 11:34:56 AM
I love the fact Killer Croc is off his base, gives a great image of the SwitchClix base.

The dice are cool, too; just hope the paint/ink does not easily rub off!

@The Yellow Fear: We're in agreement that the tokens will stay the whole game, but why will it matter?

Posted by: Tristan on 12/17/2012 11:19:23 PM
@ Tristan

I think so, seeing as the card says nothing about removing the tokens after dealing the damage.

I have to know. Do the Joker Gas tokens stay on the cards the whole game or Joker's death?

Posted by: The Yellow Fear on 12/14/2012 3:39:22 PM
Corc's special move is "Claw, Claw, Bite"? Ain't that the standard attack routine in AD&D? LOL

Posted by: MEsch on 12/7/2012 7:55:36 PM
Croc is an interesting piece and a monster close combat piece. The ability to shut down willpower, indomitable, and power cosmic/quintessence might come in handy.

Croc is a close combat monster! He's great!

Me again! Nobody else interested in this set/game or what?
Croc is my least favourite of the 3 dials so far. Not that a potential 18 damage from a single action (click 4 with loaded dice!!) wouldn't be fun but the dial is just less Adam West camp than the other two.
Those solid AVs with Bat Enemy (typed the right TA this time!) could prove useful for sharing though, and he's under 100 points.
Drat i've talked myself into it again!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 12/7/2012 1:38:41 PM
Another fun dial for Harvey.
Shame the Bat Ally TA follows "replace then modify" or he could have been the best AV booster for allies ever! Potential 13AV on the second click! Also a pity he has willpower up front, I'll probably choose to push past it every time for the 3 damage from RCE and almost auto-hit 50% of the time from a 13AV.
STOP MAKING ME WANT THIS GAME WIZKIDS!!!

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 12/7/2012 8:27:31 AM
Loving that penguin dial!!!!
I was debating whether to get this and those penguin bombs are a point in the game's favour! Hopefully the game itself is a nice quick play that my less nerdy mates/wife can enjoy and then I get to use the figs later myself for clix. Bring it on! I'm excited by this now. Now if only the price is right...

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 11/26/2012 2:07:17 PM
I believe switch clix is going to be like tab app game figures that can be use in two different game types.
And it's going to be a merge ability but with multiple characters and with vehicle size bases.

Posted by: GLprime on 11/24/2012 2:15:33 AM
from what i have read, it will become a mechanic once teen titans will be released as team members can merge onto a single team base and split up again. this will grant them new teampowers, also, it sounds like a variation of the split and merge ability, we already have. as sweet as this may sound, way too much new stuff in a short amount of time. so the strategy game will introduce this mechanic and once the teen titans set is released it will be a new game mechanic.

"SwitchClix" is what Wizkids is calling the ability to move one sculpt off of one dial to another. In the Teen Titans, this has a direct effect on HeroClix since both dials are HeroClix Dials. In BGC, "SwitchClix" means the same thing -- you can move one sculpt off of one dial to the other... the difference is that one dial is for for the BGC Strategy game only, while the other is for HeroClix. You can't play a BGC dial in HeroClix or vice Versa. So no, I don't consider this a new HeroClix mechanic at all.

The problem isn't the sculpt-movement, the problem is the naming. Seriously, if they would didn't use the word "SwitchClix" with the BGC Strategy game then there wouldn't be a problem here. There's be no confusion and people would realize "It's a non-HeroClix-strategy-game that comes with HCW compatible dials on the side".

It's kind of like buying a new boxed GAME OF LIFE, and finding bonus Community Chest cards that you can use in MONOPOLY (and only Monopoly). Fantasy Flight uses this model very successfully.

@The Le

wait wait wait....so, you're telling us that they AREN'T introducing a new mechanic to the game called "Switch Clix"?? Because I'm pretty sure if you go to the home page here and click on the Teen Titans set article, they talk all about it.

Sure...this particular game is a separate thing not related to the main Heroclix. But the Switch Dials mechanic is very much a reality and I think that's what we were talking about here.

More the power to Whizkids/NECA. I'm not trolling here. I love Clix and I will definitely be playing regardless of how many new mechanics they introduce. I'm just worried not everyone else will.

Posted by: ChronoFett on 10/17/2012 10:19:18 AM
What's the problem fellas? BGC is a STRATEGY game that has absolutely nothing to do with HeroClix. To cross-promote it, it comes with extra HeroClix dials. That's it. The Strategy is likely aimed for a larger audience beyond just HeroClix. So if you're not interested in the BGC strategy game, then there's really no need to buy it.

The BGC game will likely be a good fit for mass retail stores like Target or Hot Topic. It's a good strategy for NECA/WK to expand their lines of business.

Remember, BGC is NOT a HeroClix game. It's a separate strategy game that really has nothing to do with HeroClix.

All will be will.

Wizkids heed this warning....Too much product will start to drive away customers. Slow down on releases please. Sculpts have improved significantly but we are being overwhelemed with gameplays and sets.

Posted by: Andy Bee on 10/17/2012 4:42:08 AM
There are way to many sets and way to many changes. I can't keep up and have stopped trying.

Posted by: G Pelletier on 10/16/2012 4:25:54 PM
I agree that we are getting too many new mechanics too fast. The game is starting to feel totally different now. And do we really need another Batman set? I can think of TONS of figs that still need to be made.

Posted by: JB on 10/16/2012 9:01:50 AM
Ugh....just Blech. I mean...serious ugh! Please WhizKids...please...for the love of God. Slow down on the new Mechanics. My god. Must you introduce 3 new mechanics in one year?! I barely understand how to play vehicles and the implications of that in tournament play (which haven't even come out yet) and now you're gonna have players switching their dials around. This, after throwing out "Improved Combat Abilities" with no real major announcement. Which just followed "Tiny Size", "Split/Merge"......

Give it a rest.....give us time to catch up.

Posted by: ChronoFett on 10/15/2012 9:19:14 PM
It is it's own game, but the figures can be detached and then placed on Heroclix compatible dials. I assume the two dials will be distinctive enough not to be mixed up.

The mechanic, called "Switchclix" will be in March's Teen Titans set also where the super-boosters will have Team Bases that you can remove figures from their regular dials and place them on the Team Base (which will be 2x4) to give them different abilities. The confirmed bases are Titans Tower for the NEW TEEN TITANS (Robin, Starfire, Kid Flash, Changeling, Cyborg, Wonder Girl, and Raven) and a street scene for Gen13.

Posted by: lordoracle on 10/15/2012 4:54:50 PM
Please , you have to stop with all the diffrent mechanics. They will try to play this in some tournaments and it sounds like it is its own game.
