Let's take a look at the Batman Gravity Feed set coming out this November. It features 10 HeroClix figures with new dials.

10-18-2012: Here's an interesting Gotham Underworld figure -- the Hired Goon! He may start out with a click of Stealth and some Ranged Combat Expert, but he'll keep coming back to life over and over again!

@ ChronoFett

Wizkids has a history of special powers not working they way they should but in this case there is precendence for the Catwoman's special power could work on the gauntlet. As I've stated the BFCs Damage Control & Malfunction can effect the gems even when attached to the guantlet. The gems are still objects/relics even if they are attached to a resource.

Since the gauntlet (ie resource) has gems (ie relics) attached to it AND it is assigned to a character the figure should possess the objects as well which is why I think the power should work.

However the rule arbitrators are currently leaning toward not letting Catwoman removing the gems from the gauntlet because of the adjacency wording (apparently because they said that Catwoman isn't adjacent to the gems when attached to gauntlet and the gauntlet itself isn't attached to a character's card although if that's the case she shouldn't be able to remove relics from figures with no character cards if they go by the exact wording of the power). So I guess right now it a wait and see situation until they sort things out.

@phep

I'm afraid I would completely disagree with this. Heroclix intentionally uses very specific language to indicate a very specific game effect usage. Almost anything can be figured out by looking at the specific wording used.

It what you are suggesting is true, then why not simply say, "If Catwoman is adjacent to any relic or any character IN POSSESSION OF A RELIC"?? There. Done. Explained with no room for doubt. A character has the I.G. and is in possession of the Gems attached. Done and done.

But it doesn't say that. It says..."If Catwoman is adjacent to any relic or any character WITH A RELIC ON IT'S CHARACTER CARD." They are very intentionally using the exact wording of relics when you would take a power action, roll a dice, and take possession of an independent relic placed at the beginning of the map.

Let's look at the official Heroclix Rules Book:
2012 Rulebook; page 19---RELICS
"Certain immobile objects are listed as a ”Relic”. A relic will be listed with a range of numbers. Relics can’t be destroyed.

Once per game per character, if a character occupies the same square as a relic, that character may be given a power action to roll a d6 that can’t be rerolled. If the result of that roll is within the indicated range of numbers, the relic IS PLACED ON THAT CHARACTER"S CHARACTER CARD and the character will gain certain abilities, as described on the relic’s card."

Even if we are talking about an older figure with no card, this Catwoman's ability is focused on a very specific wording for a very specific effect. Check everything you can possibly find on the I.G. It will NOT contain that wording. Those Gems attached to the I.G. are not considered relics according to the Rulebook in this situation.

@ ChronoFett I think Kragnorak might be correct about Catwoman being able to remove the gems from the gauntlet. While the gems are relics attached to a resource (ie gauntlet), it would still need to be assigned to a character so the gems would be attached to the character (the phrase “place this object on that character's character card” when using relics simply means that the character in question has the object in its possesion and older heroclix figures without cards can still use relics). Also it's been ruled by the Heroclix arbitrators that game effects that works on objects can affect objects attached to resources (like the Damage Control battlefield condition for example).

What's with The Joker sportin those MC Hammer pants? Must be too legit too quit ... (oh no didn't)...

Posted by: The Real Captain Cold on 10/25/2012 8:28:23 PM
@Kragnorak You are correct about the gems being "relics". However, the answer would also be no here. When added to the I.G., the gems are officially part of the "resource" that is the I.G.
Notice Catwoman's ability says, "If Catwoman is adjacent to any relic or any character with a relic on its character card". The Gems, when attached to the I.G. are not on your character card. Only independent relics that have been picked up by a roll of the dice would be on your character card. If you placed a Gem on the map at the beginning of the game without the I.G. then Catwoman's abilities could apply in that case.

Bruce looks... SICK! I'm almost tempted... what's up with "rescuer" for Bats?

Posted by: MEsch on 10/23/2012 8:23:00 PM
I like the Hired Goon mechanic. That is what I want to see on a Wolverine dial, so that he and other regenners are prone to getting back up again.

Posted by: Kragnorak on 10/23/2012 1:51:25 PM
@ChronoFett,

The Infinity Gauntlet might be a Resource but the Infinity Gems themselves say "Relic" on the card. Therefore Catwoman can steal all the gems off of your gauntlet, correct?

Posted by: Kragnorak on 10/23/2012 1:47:36 PM
@NobleKitty Sorry, I'm afraid that is incorrect. Catwoman eliminates "relics". The Infinity Gauntlet is a "resource".

All Catwoman can get rid of is the Special Objects you roll to pick up. (Gem of Cytorakk, Iron Man suitcase, One Ring, Zodiac Key)

So, no, the Infinity Gauntlet lives on!

Posted by: ChronoFett on 10/23/2012 5:57:02 AM
So. Catwoman is a quick and cheap answer to the infinity gantlet? Just move her next to the figure with it and BAM! no more gauntlet.

Seems legit.

The hired goons are an interesting idea. Always nice to see miniatures of the NPC types.

its just you, considering that only one new figure out of four in this set has indomitable so far

Posted by: guyncognito on 10/19/2012 8:38:22 AM
Is it just me or is every piece in dc have indomitable anymore?
