Mage Knight HeroClix Spoilers

Mage Knight HeroClix

Hillside, New Jersey – February 11, 2013 – WizKids Games, a subsidiary of NECA, announced today plans to release an all-new fantasy miniatures product based upon the popular and long-lived world of MAGE KNIGHT. The first game to utilize the extremely versatile and innovative Combat Dial System game platform, MAGE KNIGHT boasts over a dozen releases, including an award-winning board game based on the property.

“MAGE KNIGHT is what started it all and we’re happy to return to the world WizKids Games created,” said Justin Ziran, president of WizKids Games. “MAGE KNIGHT is a beloved franchise, by both the fans and all of us here in the office. We’re committed to offering something that is compelling and respects MAGE KNIGHT’s long history.”

Planned for release in fall 2013, MAGE KNIGHT: RESURRECTION will be a full fantasy miniatures line utilizing the Combat Dial System game platform it pioneered. There will be 25 miniatures in the line, with content pulled from all corners of the MAGE KNIGHT universe. Each figure will incorporate SwitchClix technology, and include two dials  one designed for the MAGE KNIGHT 2.0 rules, and a second HeroClix P.A.C.-compatible dial. MAGE KNIGHT: RESURRECTION will be offered in both full starter sets and collectible booster packs, two formats familiar to the collectible industry and fans of the collectible franchise.

From Wikipedia:
"Mage Knight is a miniatures wargame using collectible figures, created by WizKids, Inc, and is the earliest example of what is now known as a Collectible Miniatures Game. The game was designed by founder Jordan Weisman along with Kevin Barrett. The game is the first to use WizKids' Clix system, combining roleplaying and wargaming elements with aspects of collectible card games. Mage Knight achieved success after it was introduced in 2000. Your Comments:
Just purchased an Epic Campaign starter with a few figures and was surprised to only find the Heroclix rules. I would imagine that there would be some references to Mage Knight 2.0. I was interested n checking out how to play that game, but a disappointed that the rules weren't included.

I'm not collecting this set, but Phoenix Concord is the TA that the Superman Allys needed.

Why didn't they use the "Atlantis" keword instead...

@Loki: The dial has been moved to the Yu-Hi-Oh spoilers page. Thank you!

Breaker the Magical Warrior is YuGiOh... Not Mage Knight.

@0uroboros: As I understand it, the two dials are like this.
Dial 1 is fully HeroClix.
Dial 2 is fully compatible with Mage Knight 2.0.
I could be wrong, but this is my current understanding from what I have read at Heroclix.com. See this article.

WizKids needs to make the non hero sets Modern Age tournament legal when they are released. Having them be Golden Age right away is insane. This rule is why pieces like this have limited appeal. I would love to play Aquaman leading pieces like Shyft Ravager, but it will never happen.

Awesome skeletons!

Love these Orcs! Their an awesome minion army in the making!

@The Le: That's Invulnerability, not Impervious on Khan Bonespike.

I love that one guy who called people who don't know what a Solonavi is mooks, yet can't spell it.
I'm wondering what the difference between the two dials per figure is going to be. The way me and my friends see it, you could just cut the cost of the figures in half to fit them into Mage Knight teams... at least that's what we calculated, when I was allowed to bring my Amazon Draconum to a Heroclix game (waaaaay back when I was getting started) at 216 points.

As Mage Knight fans we need to make sure this set gets sold out at every game store the same way the board game did. Wizkids needs to be sent a message that Mage Knight fans are very much alive and want product. And then you will see the sets increase to the normal size. Someone at the top thinks Mage Knight won't sell, and we have to prove that guy wrong!

I think I see an Atlantian Technomancer.

Thrilled that this is making a comeback.

Posted by: superfriend on 7/15/2013 7:25:12 AM
I'm guessing the Solinavi pictured with the first 4 is the chase figure if you don't know what a Solinavi is then go do some research you mooks

Well, if it's 2.0 compatible, you should be able to use your old stuff if you still have it knocking around. Believe it or not, I actually found all of my pieces just last week so this is perfect timing!

former mage knight warlord here. my question is: how are supposed to build a viable army with only 25 figures. I mean, I would expect 25 to be the opening count of a single faction, not an entire set. anyone else care to weigh in?

Posted by: godslayer on 3/9/2013 10:10:08 PM
Plz Plz Plz dont mess this up like you guys did last time and the Switchclix mechanic will definately make it interesting cause for me MageKnight is where I clixed
