The ambitions of the villains in this movie are indistinct and their considerable efforts of deception come off as meaningless. The Extremis procedure seemingly turns ordinary people into augmented super soldiers and gives them the ability to regenerate. OK, but the rest of their capabilities and limitations are left vague at best. It seems they are able to tear apart Iron Man armor(s) with ease, too much ease if you ask me. I mean in previous films the Iron Man’s armor stood up to: tanks, Jets, electro-whips, other armors and even alien weapons. Come to think of it, didn't Iron Man’s go toe to toe with the Mighty Thor himself in Avengers? Yet an amped up soldier is capable of tearing the armor apart like it was a Christmas goose? Yeah sorry, I’m just not buying that.
There is also a neat bit in the film showcasing Starks latest process for armoring up a piece at a time. I had no problems with his armor remotely attaching itself to Stark while he was in a reasonable proximity. However, having the armor fly in pieces from Tennessee to Miami is a bit of a stretch, even for a superhero movie. I mean, the Armor is powered by the electro magnet in Tony’s chest, so how did it have the fuel or energy or whatever to make it that distance? If my observations suggest I’m not suspending realism enough keep, in mind Tony Stark does not have super powers. Stark is a normal guy who uses a powered armor, that’s not exactly unrealistic in today world of cloning and advanced robotic engineering.
