Wizkids Dicemasters 09-05-2013: On December 4th, Wizkids will release a new dice-building-game called Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men. This new "collectible" dice game will consists of specialized cards and dice.

We're particularly pleased with the 99-cents booster packs. It should be a very interesting game indeed.

The Avengers vs. X-Men Starter Set comes with 44 custom dice, 38 cards, two dice bags and a core rulebook. The starter is labeled for "2+" players, retails for $14.99 and should street on December 4th.

The Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men blind foil pack, which also releases December 4th, contains two cards and two dice (featuring Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor and others). The gravity feed contains 60 units which retail for $0.99 each. The Avengers vs. X-Men game will be the first WizKids dice game in a collectible format. No rarity scheme has been revealed.

I've been on a superhero CCG kick recently, picking up dead card games of Overpower, Marvel Ultimate Battles, and the lesser Marvel ReCharge. A dice/card game sounds interesting. I like the relatively low price point and the blind packing. I'll try this.

I haven't wanted to buy into Heroclix because it looks great but can be pricy.

My problem with Ultimate Battles was that it died before it expanded, so it only had 12 hero cards of which 3 are more than overly common. The ally and action cards were also limited but involved more of the Marvel Universe in the battle. Overpower, older and longer running can be hard to find but had many, many more heroes.

I'd like to see a list of heroes and villains. Already looks like they're using more heroes than Marvel Ultimate Battles so that is promising. I don't want to keep pulling Iron Man, Hulk,and Wolverine endlessly from the blind packs because Ultimate Battles burnt me out on those folks.

I hope this pulls in the big characters, but also some lesser known folks too that aren't being pushed by the Marvel movies.

Guys, if your interested in this game you should try playing Quarrios. Its the same thing minus the heros.

Very interesting. There was what looked like finished box art shown by WizKids for a DC Comics dice building game shown a while back. Toy Fair maybe? Based on the Gods Among Us video game I think.

@pandab0mb: Me too. I think the price point is very attractive, and I am a big fan of Zombie dice. I hope Dice Masters has the right blend of simplicity with tactics. I'm always looking for games to play at work in under 30 minutes, and this game has potential!
