Worst HeroClix Ever - ParasiteWe continue our Worst Clix Ever series with a real oldie but definitely not goodie - DC Hypertime's Parasite.

It's a funny thing, because at first glance Parasite doesn't seem too bad, especially with Golden Age goggles on. He's got nearly a full dial of Leap/Climb and a starting click of Poison and 6 clicks of Steal Energy. He's even got a couple clicks with a 10 attack value!

But then you take a step back and you realize -- he sucks. Continued below...

Worst HeroClix Ever - Parasite

His first click of life really says it all -- he can't get into position anywhere with that awful [6] speed, can't hit anything (at least in today's game) with a less than stellar [8] attack value (and no range), but he does have Poison... which won't do much good with the oodles of damage reduction in today's game. Granted, Poison was more potent back in the olden days, but geez just look at that defense value!

HeroClix Swarm BystanderOne click of Impervious and Toughness means nothing if you start with at [12] Defense and no power. Just one decent hit and he's past those damage reducers (and poison), and still nowhere near an enemy to steal energy from.

All this isn't necessarily terrible... until you factor in the heinously high cost of 107 points! The TA has always been an expensive ability, but on this figure it's just makes a sucky HeroClix worse. In a 300 point game you might as well just give your opponent those 107 Victory points to save the embarrassment. Heck, I'm not sure this figure is worth it in any point game!

Congratulations Parasite, you're this week's Worst Clix Ever.

Your Comments:
@Mantis Warrior, the current PAC doesn't say any of them are "non-optional" because NONE of them are optional... you can no longer "turn off powers" or choose not to use them. The closest thing to that is that you can't use certain powers without the appropriate action type (eg. you can only use PW if you use a Ranged Combat Action).

sad*

What is also said is that he was a unique, I.E. the super rare back in the day.

Its the best looking Parasite figure so at least he has that going for him.. Lol

not gonna win many games with that. i guess push right away
and have a pc character and empower to make anything he hits
worthwhile. much more workable unit at 70 points.

Absolutely one of the worst pieces ever, indeed. This piece didn't even get the benefit of getting to age poorly; he was obviously horrible fresh out of the box when this set was new. Even when the game was just getting its sea legs, this piece was bad.

Mantis Warrior is ALWAYS wrong! Although the current PAC doesn't say "non optional" for steal energy.

Posted by: Mantis Warrior on 8/25/2014 10:54:18 AM
"awful review" is so, so wrong. Parasite has NEVER been up to clix standards, even in Hypertime. Not for that point cost.

Mantis Warrior is also wrong: You can't turn off Steal Energy! It's never been an optional power, I think — certainly not since Indy

Wow... I would disagree with you on so many levels.

firstly you are comparing a figure that is how old? That was quite comparable and useful back in the day. You could at least pic something Modern Age and do a Worst Fig of that format.

Second, a figure is only useless cause the player using it wants it to be. If you are having fun it shouldn't matter, and if you are good player you can utilize any piece.

Agreed. In fact, its so bad that I never even looked at fielding the new version in the Superman set.

Posted by: superfriend on 8/25/2014 6:43:21 AM
I still own this figure...

Posted by: Blitz23 on 8/25/2014 5:51:38 AM
Yeughhh! Now that's a bad clix! What I love most is that even if you manage to push him to his at-least-I-can-beat-on-bystanders click 2, if he hits he'll just Steal Energy back to his appalling top dial and get himself whumped right back! Any figure that requires you to paint yourself a life-size comic speech bubble that says "I'm turning off steal energy" to staple to your own head in case you forget when declaring the action is truly dire!
The throwing a tantrum sculpt is pretty funny though!
