Awesome Clix: Dr Voodoo

At first Dr Voodoo may seem a little pricey at 134, but he's got a good punch and lots of utility. For starters he's got Running Shot with 3 damage and Flight, which makes him a decent secondary attacker. But with Null of Legba's Staff (Penetrating/Psychic Blast), that upgrades him to a primary attacker, especially against tent-poles.

And thanks to all that Perplex and Support, he's also a great utility piece!

WoW, nice sculpture and dial ... #DOWANT

Posted by: Guilherme Maron on 10/26/2015 3:47:51 PM
He lived a charmed life when I faced him on a table. My usually bad dice rolls were even worse.

Posted by: Joe Decker on 10/16/2015 9:47:10 PM
The Mystic Ability is nice. Flight is a non-optional choice for a sorcerer supreme. But its the character that makes the figure so cool. Yes, its a great sculpt. But its a lesser-known Marvel great brought out onto the field. We need more of that. Where's my Shevaune Haldane figure or my Death's Head II [Minion]? This is how we improve the play. Not just game mechanics. Fuel for imagination.

Posted by: Jason Ilgenfritz on 10/16/2015 4:27:16 PM
I think that psychic blast special is enough to make him awesome.

Posted by: Rocolo on 10/12/2015 7:35:22 PM
A buddy of mine had a team consisting solely of different versions of the Sorcerer Supreme, including this guy, and it was impossible to beat. Even if you managed to take some of the other Dr.s off of their Penetrating/psychic blast, it just didn't mean anything because of Legba's Staff. And everyone I hit did mystic damage to me. Rough.

Posted by: Fritschie on 10/12/2015 10:00:16 AM
Well with running shot and penetrating that means he's really good right off the bat. Plus the mystics means he's gonna deal damage even if you miss every attack. Support means that he'll keep the rest of your force alive. All in all he's a very good support piece.

Posted by: Upchuck9000 on 10/8/2015 6:07:47 PM
That penetrating damage is pretty strong plus he can use perplex. Also support is really good too. He'd make a great support/secondary piece for any squad.

Posted by: Emperorsauce14 on 10/8/2015 6:01:42 PM
Why is he awesome? He's the first piece I've seen with multiple clicks of the same color! Prob, barrier, incap and mind control at the same time makes him usable in any situation. Great sculpt

Posted by: BioHunter on 10/7/2015 4:20:57 AM
With Running Shot and Legba's Staff, he'll run around tearing you apart while his ES/D protects him from you doing so in return. And if you focus on taking him out, you'll take a beating because you've ignored the primary attacker.

Voodoo Magic.

he is black enough said

As a figure:One of my favorite 'support' characters of all time. That perplex really helps. And no pushover, like many other supporters.

As a character:the definition of brotherly love. Damballah!

I am pretty new to the game so i'm not up to speed on all the strategies and best ways to use him but man what a cool sculpt. The detail with the skulls and bones on the outside of his outfit are amazing looking.
I have run into the Mystics Team ability before so i know you want to about how you attack him before rolling dice. Perplex, support and Blue is Probability Control i think? Oh yeah i could find some uses for him i think! LOL

Posted by: Steve on 10/6/2015 10:40:02 AM
What can Voodoo do to you with his hoodoo that makes him awesome?
1) He isn't the prime version so tour opponent will smile at you more often during the game.
2)His supporting powers are outstanding whilst still offering himself up as a secondary attacker at the very least.
3) You can sing "Voodoo People" by The Prodigy while gaming.
4) His back dial is all blue. But you won't be with those cool powers on offer!
5) Because The Le says so!
6) Avengers keyword gives him more theme team options than you can shake a hoodoo staff at.

You know what makes him amazing? Using him as a herald of Galactus. You can hit the other team with him first thus causing Galactus to deal tons of pen dmg, and when his master gets hurt you can heal him twice thanks to the free actions you get.

Posted by: Gio on 10/5/2015 10:57:44 PM
Doctor Voodoo is highly underrated. I know everyone gushes over the prime Brother Voodoo, but opening clicks of running shot and PPB with perplex are very nice. If he takes a hit you've got the ability to start mind controlling with PC. Oh and he's a mystic unlike the prime so some people will be hesitant to attack him with their heavy hitters because they will lose their top dial stats. A very solid piece for his price in my opinion.

When the Spider-Man/monsters set came out, I put together a killer mystics team a few times and every time the Doc made the team. Paired with a semi-stable mystics figure, this guy tears up the competition. I prefer him paired with the Ghost Rider piece from the same set. SOOOO much unmitigated damage and the ability to heal? Yes, please! For less than 300 points, you can team up Doc Voodoo with the Ghost Rider and you're looking at 7-8 points of penetrating dmg from them combined or Ghost Rider getting real tanky with 19 DEF and invulnerable. The real kicker is how much DMG is given back simply from them being mystics. Also, Dr. Voodoo's power suite leads me to believe that he is designed to fight the power cosmic team and he can stand up to any equally priced figure

Posted by: UhhitsJon on 10/5/2015 10:24:04 AM
A little heavy on cost, but very versatile for an avengers or mystical theme team. His 7 range, running shot and psy blast make him a legitimate threat to most figures. Toting a 19 defense at range gives him some staying power. Best suggestion is play him with phoenix force (colossus) to get the most out of his mystics.

Posted by: Bill Rock on 10/5/2015 9:31:48 AM
I think Dr Voodoo is a great figure to play because he doesn't lose a lot value wise as he goes through his clicks. Sure he loses some powers, but his defense only drops to 16 and then goes back to 17. It's a pesky tie up figure that can be used to occupy another figures attention while draining it of its clix. Don't forget that he is also a Mystic which causes attacking figures to lose clicks just for attacking him.

Posted by: BP on 10/5/2015 8:49:06 AM
Dr.Vodoo is a great support/semi attackers for Avengers teams. Keep him back so he can perplex and support when need be and if people get to close ZAM magic in yo face!

Posted by: Anger_Ranger on 10/5/2015 8:26:32 AM
Dr. Voodoo is a great addition to any team. Great move/attack ability, great penetrating damage, support, perplex, mystics, and a flier. Wonderful piece. Be aware however, this piece loses a ton of power when based by an enemy.
