02-01-2011: HeroClix superfan JAMES S. was also at Clix-a-Thon, and we got to talk to him a bit.
The Le: What did the sculpts look like?
JAMES: Zangief... he was spinning. Basically he had his arm extended in the final spin. There was a figure that was silohouted as it jumped/punched kinda like Atom BN. Sagat was in the pose where he's shooting energy. The sculpts were taken right out of the game. This set is gonna grab all kinds of people SF fans, Clix players, even kids in line at gamestop who see how good the quality is.
Guile has his arms crossed and energy coming off them. Chun Li is doing a shadow kick with clear plastic represented multiple kicks. Ken is in the air superpunching.
There was a lot of special effects that haven't been done before that were represented with the clear/transluscent plastic. There some something special about Dhalsim but I'm drawing a blank. It was a bit overwhelming when each sculpt was better than the previous. Blanka had energy coming off him the color was amazing, it was a starburst effect. Any others you're interested in knowing about?"
The Le: Do you remember what other figures were shown? Sculpt details are optional.
JAMES:
•Zangief: spinning attack
•Sagat:shooting energy
•Ken:hyperpunch
•Fei Long:his special flip kick,he's in the middle of it
•M.Bison:only non-action pose,he's floating on energy arms crossed like in the game
•Vega:he's on a wall(ala Spiderman) getting ready to leap w/ claw
•Balrog:lunging uppercut
•Cammie:some kind of handstand kick
•E.Honda:either chopping or doing 1000 hand punch
•Guile:throwing energy
•Blanka:crouching energy attack
•Ryu: definitely saw him not sure of pose either getting ready to throw energy or fighting stance
•Dark Ryu: again can't remember pose lots of energy though
•Akuma: didn't know who he was at the time but his sculpt is awesome
•Dhalsim: I saw him but can't remember his pose
•Chun Li:shadow kick
My brother also said there was a few others but I'm only familiar with the above. Actually I thought Akuma and Evil Ryu were evil versions of Ryu and Ken. I remember the ones I did because as I said it's like they came right off the arcade screen. I've been trying to get in touch with others who were there.
My brother thought he saw the Jamacan kickboxer, Indian, and another version of Ken but he might have them mistaken with the above. It was a slide show and the program just kept repeating so I think maybe he didn't realize it was on repeat and thought he saw more than he did. The SF set really showcases what NECA is capable of. Hope this information helps.
Thanks James!
