Critical Miss: Full HeroClix Compatibility
This will easily be the most contentious issue with Star Trek Tactics. The set itself won't simply be "borrowing" HeroClix game mechanics, it will in-fact be fully compatible with the current HeroClix game. As such, this single decision will likely splinter the community into two distinct camps: those who allow full compatibility and those who will not. I suspect that most venues will not allow a Klingon Bird of Prey to line up against Superman, which is problematic because it's supposed to be allowed.
This could very much hurt the game, because there's nothing more frustrating than buying collectable figures that none of the judges will allow you to use.
Critical Hit: Full HeroClix Compatibility
On the other hand, we can't deny that HorrorClix didn't do that well in the gaming arena. I know that some places did very well with it, but let's be honest -- if HorrorClix was really that profitable then NECA would have resurrected it a long time ago. HorrorClix was about 80% compatible with HeroClix, yet it didn't survive more than two expansion sets (and the last one was really good if you haven't tried it).
This is definitely one of those bullet points that is both a Critical Hit and a Critical Miss.
There's actually a lot of people out there that will use this point as their ONLY reason to hate Star Trek Tactics, and I think that would be a very narrow opinion to take. If you're going to hate, then please bring more to the table than just that.
