Next, we find ourselves back at the S.T.A.R. labs disaster area where we last saw Vic Stone get flash-fried by being too close to a Boom Tube (an inconsistency, as I mentioned previously, that I hope gets addressed in the future). Silas Stone, Vic’s dad decides not to let things end that way.
Interesting touches here is that Professors Ivo and Morrow appear to be colleagues with Silas in S.T.A.R. Long-time League fans know who these people are and what role they play, but it’s interesting that they are placed in S.T.A.R. and at the same time. Could they eventually become their former selves as they were portrayed before, or is this an indication that some characters are not going to turn out as we once knew them? An interesting bit, and another thing to look forward to in the future.
Now, back to Metropolis, where we last left the “boys”. One of the first things I find odd is the abandoned printing press Superman brought the rag-tag group to catch their breath apparently is the Daily Planet’s. This is odd because the time of this story is 5 years earlier. In Action Comics, the Daily Planet is pretty prominent as Superman begins his legend while Clark works for rival The Daily Star, so I’m not sure why the Planet would have an abandoned printing press at this point in the DCNu history.
Moving on, we find the gathered heroes having their hands full with the horde of Parademons. Batman and GL continue to bicker, trying to defend themselves and the populace who believe they are causing this, while Flash discovers Batman is just a man. “I thought you were a vampire or something”, Barry says (which is a natural perception a person would have, given Batman’s chosen motif). Batman calls for a strategic regrouping as he feels there’s too many of the enemy to handle. Flash simply points out to “Tell that to Superman”.
