Superman remains concerned that the Parademons are only marginally concerned about them and are more focused on taking as many civilians with them. Batman concurs that the Parademons are not killing any bystanders but is perplexed as to what the reasons are for abducting them. Here, I find it odd that the scene doesn’t show any of the Leaguers pursuing the Parademons with the abductees. I mean, shouldn’t Superman or Lantern have chased them instead of staying on the ground to just go mano-y-mano with the hordes? Anyway, with the second wave of the Parademons arriving, the newest member of the bunch makes her entrance, slashing away and driving the Apokoliptian mass of ick and scum back.
The reactions of Flash and GL are spot on when they first see Diana: Barry at a loss for words and Hal “God’s gift to women” Jordan calling dibs on the Amazing Amazon. Superman has the simplest thing to say, yet is the first one to speak to her.
Superman: “You’re strong.”
Wonder Woman: “I know”.
This might be a possible hint as to where their relationship may be going. Superman and Wonder Woman have always been on equal footing with each other. Batman may be part of the “Trinity”, but Superman and Wonder Woman have a different relationship of knowing they are physically the most powerful man and woman on Earth, yet their upbringings are what make them so interesting to pair up. A princess of the Amazons trained in war but is unaware to the subtleties of the world, and a farmboy investigative reporter who comes from another planet and the powers of a god. With the DCNu altering or totally removing previous relationships they had, it would be an intriguing twist if DC decides to make the pairing more intimate in canon and sate the curiosity of many fans had since Supes and Wondy were created.
Again, we shift back to S.T.A.R. and the dilemma of saving Victor’s life. Professor Morrow states Victor ‘s body is being eaten away by whatever energy he had been exposed to (again, raising my point earlier about how Silas didn’t even feel any heat without wearing or using protective gear). Moving forward, Silas decides to use the tech he has studied and compiled within this “Red Room” to save Victor. This is a far cry from the origins of Vic as we knew it from before. Here, Silas isn’t even 100% sure of the safety of the tech he’s going to use. He injects Vic with nanites and uses the “Promethium Graft” on Vic who reacts by spouting out binary codes. Uh-huh. We’ll get back to that.
