I wish I was going.
They have a dealer's room that is bigger than a football field. The entire Battletech crew is there with the actual figures they photograph for their books. The celebrities are nuts. I met Gygax, Arnenson and Garfeild there. The statues are insane, like full size D&D monsters. My buddy was grabbed by security when he tried to talk to the lead actress from Heroes years back (they just asked him not to go near her).
They have tables of magic cards that are only filled with power 9. They have high level artists hawking their wares. There are games running 24 hours a day in a dozen different hotels. You can talk to anyone, anytime about anything nerdy and it's OKAY. For four days it's like being a nerd and a geek is not only allowed, but everyone you see or talk to is one.
I remember the mad dash for the new MTG set when the dealer room doors opened. The remember the lady in the angel costume that was made entirely with real feathers. Of course stormtroopers, stormtroopers and more stormtroopers. Plus a few ghostbusters. It'll get busier for them with the new movie announced. The prices on magic cards are insane. There are entire booths of LARP stuff. There are several rooms showing anime constantly. I've never been but the live dungeon is probably amazing. I'm really keen on entering the costume contest one day.
