The Le: So what are you working on these days?
Seth: The biggest thing I've been a part of is the launch of Nanovor, the game I've been working on at Smith & Tinker since I left WizKids. It's a great little turn-based battle game where you collect and evolve electronic monsters called Nanovor. You can find out a lot more and play it for free at www.nanovor.com. Along with being part of the game design team for Nanovor, I've also been doing a lot of writing related to the project. So you'll see my name on a couple different Nanovor projects (including my first novel!) in the coming months.
Let's see; I also wrote a supplement called IRON AGE for Mutants & Masterminds with Jon Leitheusser last year that I'm pretty proud of, particularly the history of Iron Age comics I wrote for the opening of the book. Jon's now the line developer for M&M, and you can bet you'll see more M&M from me whenever he gives me a chance to write for the game.
I'm also excited to be part of the all-star lineup of game designers contributing to a book Green Ronin is putting together called FAMILY GAMES: THE 100 BEST. It's the followup to one of the greatest books I read last year, HOBBY GAMES: THE 100 BEST, and in both books game designers write short essays about some of their favorite games. If you're looking for great writing about great games and an easy shortlist for games you should play if you haven't, you can't go wrong picking them up. If you want to see what game I wrote about (not HeroClix, but still one of my favorites!) you'll have to grab FAMILY GAMES when it comes out later this year.
I've always got a bunch of projects going on, so if you want to keep up with what I'm up to you can always swing by my website at www.inkslinger.org. I'm just about ready to launch a new blog talking about writing and game design called the Funlab, and I've got some posts planned that might be of interest to HeroClix fans.
If you want to piece together what I'm up to 140 characters at a time, you can find me on Twitter at @inkslinger. And if you want to see how much I've been playing Fallout 3 when I should be writing, you can find me on Xbox Live as InkslingerS.
Oh, and if you come play Nanovor, send a friend request to 'Seth' so we can battle!
See Part II of the interview!
