The Le: Have you modded any non-HeroClix figures?
Toychop: A couple, but nothing even close to the madness that HeroClix triggered. When I was six (maybe seven years old) I took a M.A.C. figure, one of these awesome-yet-forgotten guys.
I took that tiny gray dude, swiped red nail polish when my mom wasn’t looking, some supplies from my dad’s workshop and cobbled together a little Iron Man. Snips of black electrical tape for his eyes and mouth, some yellow reflector tape for a chest lens, a coat of clear nail polish for sealant and BAMMO!, a figure with an unblemished record against an endless wave of ferocious Lego robots. Next to Mego Spidey, he was the favorite toy of my youth.
Other than that, I’ve mostly just done touch-ups on action figures. Friends bring me their DCUC and Marvel Legends whenever they come out of the package with broken parts or scuffed paint jobs.
