#2 Zangief

Zangief's always been an interesting character. Originally he was a slow lumbering hulk of a character with lots of damage and few moves. He was hard to play successfully. Over time he turned into... welll... a slow lumbering hulk of a character with lots of damage, but even more moves.

He was definitely boosted in the speed department in the Marvel vs Capcom series and SF II Turbo series, but overall I'd say he's the most improved character since his debut. Not as newb-friendly as Ryu, not uber cheese-fest like Akuma... Zangief is just right...!

Zangief easily takes the #2 slot as one of the Top 5 best Street Fighter characters. Heck, now I'm starting to wonder if we should have made him #1 instead!

To be honest, I've grown up on Super Smash Bros. Melee and Halo, though I believe I did play this game several years ago at an arcade. It was a blast. i can't quite remember who I played, but Vega looks awesome. I just ordered him as a single, and I'm going to put together a martial artist theme team when he arrives. Let's see, I got Karnak, Bullseye, DC75th Bane ...

is there really a need for all these self indulgent top 5 lists that are so subjective as to be rendered moot points, i keep seeing these articles and thinking they are about heroclix, sculpts or dials only to be disapointed when i start reading only to see its another "this is the best character because i like him" lists
i love the vast majority of your articles but all articles like this one do is over saturate your articles list with useless fodder that makes it harder to find the info i was looking for

@everyone on this that posts comments to writers of articles: this is not a complaint to the people who express their opinions or to the people who write the articles, it's just that these articles have no basis other than the opinion of the person(s) who write them and these just aren't facts at all and I don't mind they write their opinions and I like to see what other people think but they should start calling this section "In the opinion of..." or do polls if they have time to make them (idk how to make polls on things like this so idk the difficulty of it) but with that being said here's my fave 5

Though i was displeased with leaving off Blanka, I was glad to see Vega (whom i played well enough that home rules made it illegal to use him)

Oh please -- I'd hardly call "leaving Ryu and Ken off the list" to be controversial in any way. After all, they're easily the most uninteresting characters in the game.

Is that Vega click photoshopped or pro-painted? That can't be factory!

This is an odd list - I never specialized in any of those characters. Of course, I have fond memories of using E. Honda against my roomies that were big believers in twitch characters like Ryu and Fei Long. The disgust when I beat them was great.

Although I'm sad they didn't make characters like Sakura, this will be a fun release.

Regarding the videos, I would've preferred to see some more real gameplay rather than Chun-Li unrealistically beating up on Thor with an unmanned controller. I doubt that is going to happen in HeroClix after all! The Guile one was dead on, though - back when he was a full charge character he would never be able to cheese those sonic booms.

@Jeris It's about compromise -- Jamlyn helped me put together the list and insisted on Guile. He and I go way back; we met in an arcade and constantly went toe-to-toe in Tekken. Some people have "drinking buddies"... Jamlyn and I are video-game-buddies.

With as much hate that u have towards guile which I think he's ok but not in my top 5 either, that just leaves me with where is blanka, dhalism, M. BISON but I'd have to say I like zangief at 2 but chun li is my #1 bouncing off the walls for a head stomp and u could win a game by spending more time in air than on the ground
