The story itself is not terrible but the handling overall is a little thin. The plot holes are plentiful and there are moments that don’t make sense at all. For example, at one point a couple of grenades slow down “the Rider”, yet he shrugs off Javelin rockets in a later scene? Also, exactly how did Moreau know where to find Johnny Blaze? I thought he was supposed to be keeping a low profile. The use of humor in the film is also a bit dicey. There are moments where it works, while other times the humor feels awkward and ill-placed.

Final Thoughts
So, is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance better than its predecessor? The answer is yes, but that still doesn’t make it a great or even good movie. It’s an OK “popcorn flick” and does have some fun moments. It didn’t disappoint me but it didn’t wow me either. I would say this movie would make for an enthusiastic DVD rental but it did not set the big screen on fire. I’ll give Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance two flaming skulls out of four.
