10-01-2015: We're back with a brand new Dragon Ball Z inspired HeroClix Dial -- GOTEN!
In today’s Hiro Clix article we examine a character with a never used, hardly seen generic keyword, the Kid keyword. This keyword has had a hard time shining as all that can have even a small amount of potential is the Power Pack (while using the Fantastic Four TA with FF members) and Molly of the Runaways however, using Fantastic Four members is breaking theme and Molly is the only kid on a team of teens. Thus today Hiro Clix represents a kid with potential, Goten!
Goten is the second son of Goku who inherited much of his power from his saiyan father. He grew up under the mentorship of the Z-Fighter Piccolo since his father was dead (but not forever). Goten’s best friend is the son of Goku’s rival, Vegeta, and together the fuse into potentially the most powerful kid on Earth, Gotanks!
While a traditional kid that rushes into battle, Goten begins with Hypersonic Speed which soon becomes Charge. He however doesn’t lack range with his father’s attack, Kamehameha or Kamekameha to Goten (who pronounces it wrong). As not being an expert on it, this special attack power is not quite as potent and powerful as Goku’s (see Insert link to Goku article) but it certainly has its uses. For 50 points, Goten has a lot of damage potential.
Playing with Goten: Goten is a fair secondary attacker that should be supported by a character with Outwit so he can really lay down the damage. The opening Hypersonic Speed is his only click of it so hiding him behind blocking and walls is a must. A support with Probability Control in his mid-dial would also be helpful to nail his Kamekameha attacks. Being that there are rarely Kid teams anymore, Goten is likely to break them (especially in sealed) but as such, he can at least benefit from his special defense power.
Playing against Goten: As mentioned, Goten’s likely course of action in the beginning is to Hypersonic Speed, shoot/punch, then hide. A good swarm is a good method to use against him since, after all, he only has Toughness for his best defense and most swarms have at least 2 damage. Once he is stopped in his tracks and loses Hypersonic Speed, poking him with the swarm should be quick and easy enough.
